You have to agree to auto renewal when signing up. Make sure to deactivate it asap or they will auto renew for God knows what price

    • +7

No you don't have to, click the "Details" button next to auto-renew and you can switch it off immediately before you proceed.

    What’s inside Kaspersky Total Security?

    The FSB.

    • +3

You would rather NSA and five eyes?

      • +4

Not fussed by any of them.
I figured most could get access if they wanted.

        • +2

Yes this is true as they all use zero day exploits to target anyone on any platform

      • +2

LOL, pay your money to "fark" youf privacy.

Let them try hacking first, otherwise they going to become too lazy ;)

        • +10

To be fair there is no credible evidence that Kaspersky has done anything wrong with regards to privacy.

The USA allegations are political in nature, describe Kaspersky doing exactly what the software promises it will do. i.e. find and stop malware

The real story is that the USA hordes zero day vulnerabilities so it can illegally hack allies and enemies around the world, putting the safety of its own citizens at risk to the same zero days.

          • +1

            @noise36:

The real story is that the USA hordes zero day vulnerabilities

You mean the non-story. Every nation-state with an offensive cyber capability does this.

But they are linked to the FSB/Russian military. Unlike western countries, they can't do warrant canaries or such. As much as people rally against the 5/7/13/whatever eyes, at least information gets out more then other non-liberal democracies. You rat on western governments, you will probably end up in prison, but not dead, as Assange, Manning, Snowden, etc show.

The real story is that the all countries.and private enterprise hordes zero day vulnerabilities so it can illegally hack allies and enemies around the world,

            FTFY.

        • They have never engaged in hacking activities, yet the NSA spied on American for years and the FBI produced the magic lantern spyware along with their ally Israel producing "pegasus"

      • +1

Most people hate privacy. They have been told to hate it. Cheering on their own destruction. They believe the fake news and think Rus sia coming for them (even though they can't do anything to someone living in the 5eyes), yet leave the door wide open for five eyes (which can do plenty to 5 eyes citizens).

  • thanks, good found.

But how long I have to activate the key after I purchased? Coz I am currently using Kaspersky Internet Security and still have a year left. and would like to try the Total Security after that. thanks.

    • +6

I just bought it too, have 70 days left. It said on purchase the licensed is "active" on day of purchase. However, on the FAQ I read that an unused key has no expiry date. The date on the key for a 2 year licences commences upon the first device that the key is applied to.

I believe that the "active" statement on purchase simply means the key is active to apply. I am going to wait out the 70 days and expect that when I apply the new key, the 2 year timer will commence then. I won't know for sure until then though.

      —-Update——
This deal has a 3 year expiry on the code. It needs to be used within 3 years.

      • +5

You can enter the key even though your license not expired. Once the new license entered, it will not in use until your current license expired. When the new license used, it will give exactly the duration of that license. I've been using Kaspersky more than five years and usually buy license key in advance before expired when they on sale and enter them on my kaspersky.
p.s. if your license for different product and enter the new license for other product, once old license expired and new license going to be use, Kaspersky will give you a pop up to download the license key product.

        • +2

Thanks, didn't know this, tried just now and worked exactly as you described.

          • +1

@szy2k: No worries glad it help, also you can by pass the license region restriction easily.
What you can do is create a kaspersky account on Australia IP then enter the license key on the account.
Afterward you can install all the device you want protected by Kaspersky, login to your kaspersky account (keep all installed device on and connected to internet for now).
From web browser, login to your kaspersky account and there's a option you can transfer the license key to login device, transfer the license key and viola the device is activate.
I done this few times on my parents device located at overseas (asia region) and no issue at all.

            • @Meaty: Amazing!

            • @Meaty: … another tip… switch off your VPN or temp. pause (I use NordVPN)… you will literally sail through the account login (mine was over 2 years old since last used) and well as the checkout process. Other tips previously given in other posts here are also true and proven… Uncheck auto-renewal before checkout is important…. Software will activate when you install (or add to existing subscription) rather than using purchase date as activation date.
The online line dashboard is still messy. Even though I have now purchased this subscription (as a renewal), it still notes the existance of the old subscription and tells me to renew. A nuisance, but can trap unsuspecting purchasers into mistaking it for the new subscription… scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the NEW subscription!

              CONS:
              1. It also installs their Password Manager and their VPN service by default alongside the main Kaspersky Total Internet Security software. There was no option provided to NOT install it. A bloody nuisance if you don't want or need it.
              2. It keeps telling me that my Malwarebytes Premium is incompatible and wants to uninstal it. MB Premium runs quiet different heuristic scans and has never presented anything but a potential competitor conflict in the past. This remains the case and various peer-reviewed forums support this theory. My MalwareBytes Premium is a legacy lifetime support product and not the annual subscription product. It has always provided me with the best security in the last 20+ years I have been using it. Apart from some bugs in the software updates a few years back, it has always proven to be the most reliable pc protection (for me, anyway).

        • Hi Meaty.

I have 9 months of kaspersky internet security left.

I purchased kaspersky total security here and added it to my online account..

          Now it shows 2 licences..

Kaspersky internet security with 9 months expiry.
And kaspersky total security with 2 years expiry..

Is that how it is supposed to be?

Don't want to lose 9 months of total security just sitting there..

          Thanks.

    • +3

This license can't be activated outside Australia, New Zealand and The Pacific Islands. Activation code must be used within three years after the purchase date.

      • "Activation code must be used within three years after the purchase date." where did you see this from? Thanks.

        • After you keyed in the discount code and the price went down to $19.20, it was right below the auto-renew option.

          • @szy2k: good, got it. I could see that sentence only with the auto-renewal switched off. Or else, only the first sentence.

      • Thanks for the clarification. So I could buy two sets, and cover 5 devices for four years as long as I only consume one activation code within the first two years, and the final one within the last year.

        • +3

I just asked the Kaspersky Live Chat and got replied that

"If you purchase Kaspersky Total Security subscription with auto renewal enabled the license will start to run from the date of purchase.
If you purchase Kaspersky Total Security subscription with auto renewal disabled the license will start to run from the date of activation."
"If the you purchase with auto renewal disabled the license will start to run from the date of activation there fore the license will not expire"

So basically, as long a u didn't activate the code and keep it, it will not expire.
The risk is your key is being stolen ("little chance"), or complete forgot you have got the key.

          Hope this helps.

          • @koh: That's very useful info.

            Thanks

          • @koh: Hmmm…with auto renew disabled though, that is where the statement "Activation code must be used within three years after the purchase date." gets added

Understand what chat says, it balances with the FAQ, however there's a very specific line that appears when you turn auto renew off which indicates that the code must be used in 3 years.

“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security banned Kaspersky products from all government departments on September 13, 2017. In October 2017, subsequent reports alleged that hackers working for the Russian government stole confidential data from the home computer of an American National Security Agency contractor via Kaspersky antivirus software.”

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaspersky_Lab

    • +7

Seriously? That's a trustworthy source, it's not like the NSA would spy on us or their own citizens. All they are trying to do is avoid competition

    • +10

I work In cybersecurity. Kaspersky is fine - as other users said, its not about the software, rather just US being unhappy with Russia.

      • -6

You work in cybersecurity doesn’t mean that it’s fine. Would be more convincing if you worked for CIA.

        • -1

@Nathw I work for the C.I.A and NSA, Kaspersky is fine and secure, I just checked.

    • +5

The version of events I’m more likely to believe is:

An NSA employee took work home (they weren’t allowed to) and Kaspersky tagged a file as being suspicious, which was then uploaded automatically to Kaspersky. This is fairly common.

    • +1

"" stole confidential data from the home computer of an American National Security Agency contractor via Kaspersky antivirus software.”"

Actually…When this bloke installed it he did not untick the box at the KSN network screen which shows up near the beginning of the install.

if you leave it ticked and a suspicious malware etc type file is found, that file is sent to the KSN [kaspersky security network] server at kaspersky.

So a suspect malware etc file was sent to kaspersky from this blokes pc

Many millions of people around the world leave it ticked and the KSN is used to determine if new malware is widespread etc.. say 1200 copies of the same file is received it is likely to show a new variant etc worldwide..

Me waiting for eset $2 again. In the mean time, MS defender provides protection.

    • It's such a hassle to uninstall eset

    • +5

I am not an IT guy but lots of IT guys have told me that for home / personal use, MS Defender is all you need.

      • Exactly! Save $19.20 with that move.

  • So if I have internet security now and I buy internet security here. Should I wait for it to run out before activating this key? Or will it just add on to my days remaining

    • +2

You can enter the key even though your license not expired. Once the new license entered, it will not in use until your current license expired. When the new license used, it will give exactly the duration of that license.

  • +2

why isn't there anymore ESET deals?
have they left the Australian market?

    • Saveonit said ESET is only seeking direct now, or something to that effect.
Seems true because last year already I was unable to find any site selling ESET keys.

  • +1

I bought a 5 device / 2 year email key for $13.99 on Christmas day last year from here: https://www.saveonit.com.au/products/index/2330

Talk about inflation, it's $39 now. Anyone know if the Kaspersky license keys stack? If not, does the 2 years begin the moment you buy, or only when you input and activate the key? I've been pretty happy with it.

    I use:
Kaspersky kids to age restrict the games/apps they're allowed to install on their Android tablets, as well as restrict browsing/YouTube content and time.
Kaspersky Password Manager - actually pretty good, can be a little quirky but after using LastPass at work, I am happy with KPM for home.
And obviously the Total Security anti-virus, which a whole bunch of crap turned off that is aimed at Nanna's who have 7 toolbars installed in Internet Explorer and have no idea how they got there.

There are other AV app licenses available at SaveOnIT relatively cheap as well, if anyone isn't keen on Kaspersky.

    • My existing subscription expires in August and bought this, added it to my account and it says it won't activate until my current one expires.

      • I'm chatting with Kaspersky now, and this is what they told me:

If the license was purchase with auto renewal off, the license will start to run from the date of activation.
If the license was purchase with auto renewal on, the license will start to run from the date of purchase.
It is not possible to run two licenses at the same time so if you activate the new license, you will lose the 191 days

My current sub has 191 days left. I did a dummy checkout on the website and by default, auto renewal is on, but it's simple to turn it off.
I'll go ahead and purchase one now with auto renewal off, then hold onto the key until the 191 days is up.
Either you got lucky, or what they're telling me is BS :)

        Edit: Check this out https://i.imgur.com/hSqboj5.jpg

        • +1

Oh right, I did turn auto-renew off. Didn't know it was a necessary step.

          • +1

@ballistykx: Lucky you did! My code just came through and have filed it for safe keeping :)

    • Damn how can I missed 5 device 2yewr for $13.99.
I did buy a 5 devices 1 year for $13.99 from saveonit last December 2021

  • I added "Kaspersky Secure Connection" (VPN) and that cost AU$9 for 1 year/5 devices, so 80% off.
So it was $28.20 for both Total Security and VPN . I would have been happy to pay for 2 (or more) years of VPN if they allowed it as an option.

    • +2

Oh and I got $3.08 from Shopback.

  • I get invalid promo code

    • +1

Yes I got that too, but when I re-opened it in a new page, and this time it accepted the promo code.

  • Kapersky is a fantastic product esp with the password manager considering you often get it like 50-80% off its the best value as well as being a decent AV product

  • Bought it but said it will send an email upon upon payment clearing?

  • Bought 1 device, 2 years: $7.68 - not bad, and 14% Cash Rewards cash back.

    Thanks OP

  • +1

The code is listed on cashrewards with 14% cashback

  • nice find!

  • For tin foil hat wearers, just get linux if paranod about fsb or cia

  • Any deals on Nod32??

  • One more thing to think about. There has been a general boycott of Russian products after its invasion of ukraine. This is another company that probably pays russian taxes. So buying this does support Russia. Take what you want from this.

  • re cashrewards (taken from their site)
Cashback is eligible for new subscriptions only.

    Cashback is ineligible on renewals.

  • IF YOU HAVE KASPERSKY FREE

on my PC I had to uninstall to install Total Security (said you have a newer Kaspersky so no install for you) which is stupid and poor design IMO (also had to reboot PC)

re comment above you DO get a chance to bypass the Password Manager (but not the VPN)…..signing up to the PM includes you having to read a shitload of text and authorising K that they are able to pass your date to "third countries"….it may be all innocent but until they advise no transfer of data and boil down the text wall CONSIDERABLY that's a "no" from me

And also from above as well as injecting to Malwarebytes (stupidly) It also objected to Sticky Password (but not LastPass)…HOPE IT DOESN'T KEEP NAGGING ME TO UNINSTALL

AND LASTLY THANKS FOR ALL THE TIPS- ESP INSTALLING FOR ONE DEVICE ONLY (IS ALL I USE ON A REGULAR BASIS), A CONSIDERABLE SAVING

  • do Kaspersky provide offline (downloadable) definition updates?
or they requires the installed software to be online and connected to their server all the time?

  • nope can't see the deal when i pressed the link

  • +1

I intrigued why people feel like they need to pay for third party internet security. I mean it all sounds amazing but how beneficial it is really? I've used Windows Defender/Security on our family's pcs for years without a single issue. Coupled with other free software like Malwarebytes, CC Cleaner etc for occasional checks/cleans. Never had a problem with any of our mobile devices (Android and iOS) either. Perhaps we've just been lucky every year for the past 15 years.

Aside from corporate clients, are customers of Kaspersky/Bitdefender/Norton particularly high risk users (using a lot of public networks for example) or is it just additional peace of mind?

  • I use this for kids safe which work pretty well on windows and android. Not working well on iPhone as it has limited control and randomly disabled.

  • Anybody know how long the coupon is valid?

  • +2

Can someone tell me what is going on, or if this is a scam?. I purchased the total security using the coupon and paid the money via credit card. I have received an email as below: (Full disclosure: I did sign up under a different name than that of my credit card - dont like sharing all my details). Again I am a bit relecutant to share my driver license details etc.

Thank you for your recent purchase of Kaspersky Total Security

While the transaction itself may have been processed on your payment method, the order per se is still pending on our end due to security concerns.

The safety of our customers being our priority, we must validate your identity to confirm this order.

Our sales administration staff therefore requires additional information to validate your transaction.

Please provide us a scan or photo via email, of one of the documents below, belonging to the person who made the purchase :

    • ID card (both sides)
      OR
    • Driver licence (both sides)
      OR
    • The passport

Our email address is [email protected]

We will process your information within 12 business hours (maximum) following receipt.

    • It was very straightforward and no problems for me, did you get a registration code?

    • I got the same email and reluctant to provide what they requested. Did you provide them?

      • +2

I contacted them and advised I used a different name to my CC details and they said they would cancel and refund. They also said I could subscribe again under my correct details (no need to supply driver license etc that time), at least they did not ban me for going against terms of service. I did that and no problems. I suppose (not verified) they flagged it as a possible fraud/theft because the sign up name was different to my CC details. Good in one way (prevents someone using my CC details to sign up under different name if stolen) bad in that it does not allow anonomity. Good deal for the price Full suite, five users and 2years for under $20.

        • Thank you for the reply. Cheers

    • I had no issues and got the code straightaway
Edit -Just read the comment above which explains why some people got that email.

  • Does this include a firewall? Or just AV?

  • +2

Okay, I installed on my andriod device with the app from google play store. I installed and put activation code in and no issues. The password manager and QR code app's are all downloaded seprately. You also need to sign up to Kaspersky for an account. For safe web browsing you have to use by default google chrome or samsung internet (using samsung devices so no issue), there is no support for firefox etc at this time. A lot of permissions are given to access all the features but nothing unusual about that for something that can locate, wipe, lock your device. Bit annonyed at only 300MB on the VPN (even free version) but you can purchase separately for the ful VPN (I like Nord anyway). I also checked the website and the company has moved a lot to Switzerland and has undergone independent tests to win back confidence regarding Russian connections.

Just two things I would like to know that I could not find in the app:

    1. Does this include a firewall as furyou asked?
    2. How do you turn off sending reports to Kaspersky for suspect files?.

    Thanks All

  • Code seems not working any longer. I don't use VPN or anything. Brought new Dell laptop and need of new security soft wear. Long term Kaspersky user

    • So annoying! I was putting it off all week because I swear it said it expired 11:59pm tonight so I just hopped on to pick it up too and says code invalid.
