Just managed to get the $20/month credit via chat 😁

        • Hi, could you also PM the details please? Thanks.

        • Hi can I please also get a pm of the details? Thanks in advance!

        • Hey mate, would you be able to PM some info? Not having any luck on my end

        • Could you please pm me on the details too? Cheers!

    • +2

Definitely persist! I managed to get it first go, but took some convincing. $20 port-in credit for 12 months, reduces the plan fee to $49/month.

The agent said no at first, asked him to check with his supervisor. Offered $10/month, I said I was told at the Telstra store it would be $20. Had to wait a while but eventually got it done.

    • It seems there's a PM list for more info by you? LOL.

I'd love to be included if that's something that's happening.

    • Could you kindly PM the details to me also? Ta

  • I went and got this deal, but, I didn't need to switch from an existing number, they got me a new number (which I got them to put on the e-sim - means I can put my other sim with my other number in there too if I want). So you don't need an existing non-Telstra number and you don't need to port it across to Telstra to take advantage of the $69 deal!

    • so are you paying for two plans?

      • For the moment. Haven't decided what to do about that yet. I could always find the cheapest plan possible to keep the other number.

        • Try ask Telstra chat and disconnect old service then move it to ur new service so u keep ur old number

          • @Bambini88: Still looking for the answer to this matter, too

  • Just to confirm - if I port out of telstra onto a woolies (Telstra wholesale) prepaid SIM for 1 month, I then qualify for these types of JB/Telstra port-in deals. Correct?

    • +1

Yes you do qualify. I ported out from Woolies earlier today.

  • Took up this deal, JB refused to return the phone after signing up. Tried at a different JB same result.

I'll just sell it on eBay.

  • no charger no deal

    • +1

I just read there is no charger. Hopefully doesn't cost too much

    • +1

Yes you'll never buy a new phone then since Apple started that and the pretty much everyone else has sadly done the same

  • Does a soft cover come with the phone when you buy from jb hifi?

    • +1

      Nope

      • Thanks. Will get an ebay one.

    My experience earlier this evening:
    1. Keep in mind that you cannot walk out of the store with the phone until the porting is complete. If it taking a while, they will give you the SIM to put into your existing phone and you can return to pick up the new phone once the port is complete
    2. I was able to get a $10 per monthly credit by telling Telstra Chat that I was advised I could got a $20 per month port-in credit. They said the $69 plan is only eligible for the $10 discount and the $99 is eligible for $20. If I did indeed get offered $20, I would need to get this in writing from JB HiFi and then Telstra would honour the $20 per month discount….I took the $10 as I didn’t want to get anyone in trouble and felt $10 per month is reasonable enough and didn’t want to risk encountering other chat agents who were less willing

Now in 2020 with this same plan, I was able to switch to the $65 per month month-to-month plan without any break fees essentially meaning I had a phone that was unencumbered on a month-to-month plan instead of a 12 month contract. This was my second best ever Telstra freebie - not sure if I can get in on that this time!

I got the same deal. That loophole was closed up thanks to us :)

      • +2

Yup. I’m thinking once the price - and data - rises go up 1 July for the direct from Telstra month-to-month plans, I might try and give it a whirl again to really ensure that loophole is closed!

PS: No dice pushing for $20 monthly port-in credit - I shamelessly tried again this morning.

    • What was the first best ever Telstra freebie?😂

      • +1

The time they added a phone onto my old legacy staff plan and forgot to attach an MRO.

      • +1

        Galaxy S20 Fe

    • Your new plan is going up $3 but getting another 100gb, so not a bad deal

    • If you've signed the paperwork and paid for the phone, why would they not let you leave before porting is complete? Is that allowed?

      • +1

Guess they want to confirm you're on Telstra before handing over the phone to you. Otherwise I'm guessing the contract is invalidated and they don't receive the commission but have given out a phone.

  • Judging from eBay these phones aren't selling for $1049 (albeit the ones on eBay aren't brand new, but I also don't have a reputable account that people will trust sending all that money). Profit in this deal may have to come from using Zip and convincing Telstra to apply discounts.

  • Optus 55$ plan 80gb +20gb free add on, 50% off for 12 months, no contract. Thats already a $500off for me Plus 5g reception very good in my area, 700mbps min during peak hours.

    • This 50% off is not applicable on the first service, when you sign up for 2 mobile services one service will be eligible to get 50% off or you can also have a home internet plan to get this 50% off on mobile

  • Able to share data on this plan ?

    • Nope. This was what stopped me. Telstra allows data sharing on their plans (direct from Telstra) but the JB rep told me the JB plans are on a different billing system to the Telstra direct plans and on the JB/Telstra billing system, data sharing is not possible

  • Sucks I'm already with Telstra with pixel 5

  • Got this yesterday. Thanks.

  • Will Optus price match this?

    • +1

Probably not. Keep an eye on HN/Optus plans over next day or two though. They might bump up the GC value or something!

      • +1

Optus will match other OPTUS MVNO's like CIRCLE so if you have a good deal, say on a 12 month discount, Optus will port you in for near the same deal with permanent discount applied and you get 1.5mbs unlimited when inc full speed data is used up! Bargin but I love FELIX 20mbs data speeds over slower 1.5mbs anyday and soon will have Telstra coverage roaming as ACCC give the deal with TPG/Vodafone & Telstra the GREEN light!

  • Anyone able to advise if this will be a much better phone then a s10, very tempted as I have poor camera quality and battery after 3 years.

  • +1

    Got the phone last night.

Went on live chat and asked for port-in credit.
They initially offered $10 p/m but I said I've had $20 p/m in the past and they gave it to me without a fight :)

    • Jealous - I've struck out twice on getting $20 so settling on $10.

    • Can anyone help me with a live chat link please? I can only find options to 'message us' and it doesn't sound like thats as useful for this.

      • Message us is the option you select on the app to contact a Telstra representative.

        • OK thx mate!

    • Does the port-in credit get done after the purchase or before?

  • I went to JB Hifi at North Lakes. There was no mention of this offer there, only the normal 6 @ $499

    • I took this offer up at JB Kedron last night. There was a sticker next to the phone with the $399 offer and the sales guy asked if I was aware of it. Definitely ask the team, or try Kedron if you don't have luck at North Lakes.

    • It's even advertised on their website. Just scroll down a bit.

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/google-pixel-6-pro-5g-128…

  • When it comes to going for the port-in credit, how do you go about applying for that?

Do you purchase the phone from JB-Hifi with the deal and then talk to Telstra or beforehand?

    • +1

Yes - sign up first and once your service is active you can talk to Telstra later.

  • +4

Happy days! Signed up for the new plan, got the phone, on Telstra service activation requested for $20 port-in credit through online chat.

Availed the Zip Pay $50 cashback (instantly added to Zip Pay rewards section - but can be redemmed only in $20 chunks) and yes JB Hi Fi Perks $10 coupon!

    • +1

So is this deal good enough for a +/-?

      • Yea pretty good I would say.

    • So port-in is not guranteed? Right?

  • +1

Has anyone had any luck with the return/refund phone thing, or is it safer to just grab the gift card?

    • My tax invoice has the final price of $1049 on it but also includes the $650 gift cards JB used to subsidise the purchase to $399. I think that would prevent the phone from being returned for a full refund…

      • It would just refund for gift cards I would’ve thought?

        • Yeah, I'm not sure. Reading a few other posts, it seems that people attempting to return the phone for a refund or gift cards have been refused.

          • @speirsy76: Yeah it will says Online GC of $650 then the rest will be $399 paid via Debit/JB GC or something else.

            • @AirJordan23: All JB gift cards will be called Online GC. They would think you used gift card to purchase it. Same thing as those JB deal few years ago where they provided you gift cards which you can use it at the exact moment to purchase anything or phone they have on sales. They just skip these steps. So basically is $650 GC provided you purchase the pixel 6 pro be it 128gb, 256gb and 512gb.

If they asked just said you used gift card to purchase it. Anyway, YMMV.

              • @Clementt: Ah okay, thanks for the info. Let's see how it will turn out.

  • +2

Confirm please do you need to be transfering a number to Telstra? Is there anyway to get this if you are an existing Telstra customer?

  • Has anyone ported from a corporate Telstra plan into this and gotten the GC?

  • Is this still available on Sunday?

  • +I have $50 cashback in Commbank rewards

  • If you get $10 credit from Telstra, how does the minimum over 12 months work?

  • So has anyone actually got a refund?

    • Keen to know too, though I doubt it, they were pretty clear that returns weren’t possible when I signed the contract

      • Give it a try lol. Let us know, why not

    • Yes, I did Sir! Happy days.. I believed you are eligible for a refund because they did hand me a note to sign at checkout which said that the phone is in sealed condition and can be refund within 30 days if not opened. I even ask what's that for. The manager said in case i want to returned it after I open the box and get a refund, then they can use the note and refused me a refund. Guess as long as you don't removed the seal on the phone, you can get a refund.

      • why would you want a refund? you will only get back what you paid for it $399.

        • And $650 gift card that was used to lower the price from $1049

          • -3

@Clementt: you obviously won't get the $650 gift card as well.

            • @9hundred: Sorry, how is it obvious? Haha I don’t follow how it is obvious that he won’t get the 650 as well. Plz explain

  • So if a family member ports over from Optus prepaid to Telstra, can we then transfer plan ownership to me who is already on Telstra with a contract that has ended and keep my same number?

Give me old phone to the family member to use back on optus with a new optus number?

  • Signed up today. Porting wasn't finished in store so went home without the handset. Just got ported now. Reached out to telstra chat and got $20 credit applied first try. Will be using zip pay to get the extra $50 off the phone.

  • -2

Anyone want to sell theirs for a quick $400 hit me up

    • Why would anyone want to sell the phone at the same price (with $1 profit) when the rrp is $1049?

      Can easily get around $500-700

  • just got $20 port in from from the second person

definitely try more than 1 telstra chat at the same time, and don't give up. Tell them your friend got it, and that's why you signed up to the plan

    • What did you tell them? On 3rd try still no credit applied. Told them every scenario already lol

    • Is that mean $20 per month for 12 month credit? Thanks

      • +1

        Yes it does.
