Is apple a good brand. Never heard of it.

    • Better than orange.

    • Never heard of it.

      Username checks out.

  • Can someone tell me which is the better one? iPad Air or Normal iPad?

    • +3

iPad Air you can use the Apple Pencil 2 which charges by attaching it to your side and is USB-C. Normal iPad you have to charge using the Lightning port.

      • Ah okay. Yeah USBC would be nicer.

Is the iPad air the newer one with a nicer processor and display and camera and stuff?

        • Yep. The one currently available to purchase from the Apple website with that nice blue one

iPad Air is leagues better, it sits much higher in their iPad hierarchy.

      It goes like:

      “Normal” iPad (9th gen)
      iPad Mini (6th gen)
      iPad Air (5th gen)
iPad Pro 11” (idk what gen it is anymore for the pros)
      iPad Pro 12” (see above)

All of them are now USB-C with support for 2nd gen Apple Pencil, except for the “normal” iPad. The 1st gen Apple Pencil is super clunky and inconvenient in comparison.

Apple edu air 5 64gb is $849 so not much of a deal, pay the extra $14 v OW for peace of mind 14 day return.

    • 2-3 weeks from apple though

  • Sorry I'm not an Apple person but my wife's ipad pro 10.5' got damaged. Is this a worthy replacement or should I go another pro?

    • +1

iPad Pro 10.5 is from an older generation of Pros. The new iPad Airs easily blow them away. Definitely a good upgrade.

64GB model will miss out on Apple's new Stage Manager feature.

    https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/technology/ipad-air-5-2022…

    • Thanks for the comment, this is def something people want to know before purchase, rather than find out when it’s too late!

    • The 64GB model doesn't meet the requirements set forth for Stage Manager, but does support the feature.

Here's one article that explains it:

"Why does Apple keep saying that virtual memory swap is a requirement for Stage Manager when the 64GB iPad Air 5, which supports Stage Manager, clearly has no virtual memory swap?"

      Source: https://9to5mac.com/2022/06/14/ipad-air-5-lacks-memory-swap-…

That said, I wouldn't purchase this model with the expectation that it will support the latest and greatest features moving forward with iPadOS 17 and beyond.

      • Interesting article. It does smack of Apple setting up their product ranges and their price structures to encourage the upselling.

    • Good to know, thank you for sharing!

  • Thanks OP - was in the market for an Air and just saved 10%. Cheers

The Air always seemed like a bit of a tough sell - especially the 256GB model, even at ~$1100, that's basically the same price as the 128GB 11" Pro on sale, and only around ~$100-150 less than the 256GB 11" Pro (again, on sale of course, but comparing sale to sale prices). I would always suggest going with the Pro - the higher refresh rate display is noticeable, the device feels a little more well-built and premium, and the bezels are a little thinner.

Personally I would have preferred a cheaper, but less powerful Air. The issue is that we now have the classic iPad at ~$450, the Air at ~$900 (cheapest), and the Pro at ~$1200 (cheapest). It would have made more sense to give the Air an A15 and possibly a few less nice features, but have it slot in at around the ~$700-750 mark. Anyway, that's just me :)

  • Thanks for this, I was planning to buy one today and was able to get it for $835 at Officeworks, although there's hardly any in stock!

  • thanks op. OW price matched for $835.05

  • Thanks heaps. I was also in the market for 1 and OW price matched the iPad Air 5 256GB Wi-Fi version for me at $1051.55. Appreciate your post.

  • Seems like the price is bumped up, so this deal is expired.
