$8 porting out fees by Vodafone kills the deal, unless someone wants to use Vodafone long-term.

    • +3

this shouldn't affect prepaid plans, like this deal.

    • When does this start? I wasn't charged when I ported my number to Belong in May.

      • +2

Not sure when it kicked in, saw someone mentioned it in another deal few days ago.
They have it on their website now - https://www.vodafone.com.au/support/plans/close

It might be for the postpaid.

I think you are right (@happypanda) , talked to some one named Amrit on live chat they said same thing

"XXXX to let you know that $8 is charged for keeping the same number with different provider and is for all prepaid and postpaid services.
It is a policy and if you wish to keep the same number then the port out fee will be charged."

Lucky me I had not bought their service just yet.

I will never buy their prepaid service again (now not even if they pay me $8).

I hope this is not a new thing that will be done by all service providers because to be charging for leaving their service ON A PREPAID Service is totally ridiculous.

Can I ask how you found out about this @happypanda ??

          • @USER DC: Wonder if Kogan has the same $8 fee to port out.

          • +1

            @USER DC: https://www.vodafone.com.au/documents/sfoa/VF_SFOA_Ss3_Descr…

That states that the $8 port fee only applies to post paid services, prepay is free.

          • @USER DC: It says VF account number, which means postpaid service. Maybe there is a way to switch to prepaid before you port out the number.

            • @Neoika: Yup I think you are right talked to another couple people (and even asked them to confirm it with their manager) on Vodafone Chat, they said same thing, $8 charge only for Postpaid. But again Amrit was the first person I talked to, and that's what he/she said.

Anyway the other two people said, like there's no way you'll be charged fees because you pay for it before hand, $8 charge can only be added to billing accounts (as it gets added to the final bill) something like that.

I aint too sure though, I think I'll skip it this time just to be safe.

              • +1

@USER DC: I don’t use shopback but I did port to VF last week and will report back if they try to charge me $8 when I port out in 3 weeks time.

                • @mapax: How was it ??

                  No charge ?

                  • +1

@USER DC: Just ported out this afternoon, so far no charge.

    • what? since when?

    • Wonder if Kogan Voda also has this porting out $8 fee….

      Thanks for your advice.
      I have purchased.
But I guess I won't be porting into this

  • How do you get the $5.60 cash back?

    65%??

    • Sorry, I just checked, it is $5.20.

  • "Prepaid cards - SIM must remain active for 60 days after activation", which means you'll need to pay for another recharge to get the cashback though, no? Or is it considered active as long as you don't port out, even if you don't pay for another recharge?

    • +3

no need to recharge, just park the (burner) number with VF for 60 days

      • +1

Voda approval takes much more than 60 days after my previous activation. Activated 18 Dec 2021. Approval 12 May 2022. Super long approval cycle. The approval came way after my burner number became inactive. Not going to touch it.

    • +2

I always get the cashback after I port my number out in a month. I think they don't record the sim number, even you don't activate it you will still get the cashback.
Edit: last year I forgot to activate a Woolworth sim but I still got the cashback from Cashrewards.

Thanks OP, got one. No sign of any tracking yet but from previous Vodafone deals it does take a bit of time.

  • +1

Aside for the super long approval cycle, be prepared with the "hit and miss" (more misses) Voda experience. I (and many) are still waiting for the other promo of $10 Coles gift card to show up after activation. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/705008?page=1#comment-1232…

  • are you eligible for this … if you already got the previous deal (posted by avoidfullprice deal 24/05/2022)..??

  • +2

Still waiting for my cashback from a year ago with the same promotion from shopback.

    • A year??
