Might explain why i haven't seen a decent deal in the KFC app for a while

    • +2

Last month might be the last we see of the $4.95 box. :(

    • +3

Yeah, I noticed that KFC no longer has the cheap combos, there was a burger meal deal for $7.45 but now I think it's mostly $12 and up for a combo.

  • +3

    People still eat this garbage?

    • +2

Apparently, they don't care, and on the grapevine,
      I hear they <3 it

New jingle, "nobody does chicken prices like KFC".

If you are in SEQ, north from Deagon and Caboolture, check out a store called Fresh and Save! They currently have fresh chicken nibbles (wings cut in half so the little drummette and little wingette pieces) for $4.99 kg (at the Morayfield store). Use the southern crumb mix that you can buy in stores and deep fry or cook in the air fryer and they are brilliant!

I buy it as it is cheaper than buying cooking oil at Coles. Buy a family pack of KFC, press the pieces between two boards and you will extract about a litre of oil!!

  • Kfc stop oversalting every piece there's some savings

    • +3

      That's Preservative 621.

      • 6 cups of salt per chicken

        • Really? I recall looking at the pack of ingredients several years ago, and it was flour, assorted herbs and spice, MSG (Preservative 621) and a few other things.

  • Dunno why kfc does not buy some farmland and go hydroponics to grow all the lettuces and tomatoes etc..

      Because they're no McDonalds Realty

Every few years there's a show about dodgy restaurants rewashing meat (washing the uneaten meat of customers and serving it to new customers). KFC can take the partially eaten chicken left by customers and recycle it into nuggets, popcorn, and gravy. It's the great chicken cycle. Now, KFC is a reputable fast food chain and won't do that but the image is now in your mind. You've seen it and can't unsee it next time you have a chicken nugget.

  • KFC has really gone downhill over the last 10 years. The price right now doesn't really justify it vs going to any other local fried chicken establishment or even Red Rooster.

    • I love Red Rooster! But there are so few of them around. KFC is a love hate thing for me. The advertising draws me in, and with the first bite I'm happy, then when I finish I feel bloated.

That's the natural reaction of eating KFC

    • +1

You must of enjoyed it when they used palm oil before canola

KFC is getting so expensive that for the same money I can get a restaurant meal like Pho.

      • Depends, a bowl of pho is now like $16. Cheap as chips meal is around $22 and you feed two people with that.

I had kfc for the first time in a year or two the other day (used to eat it way too much), I went the safe options with crispy strips etc and straight up couldn't finish it because it was so gross. On top of that I had to pay extra for sauces, which they both didn't give (2 missing) and all were wrong type.

10/10, would recommend as it's put me off for another couple years which is a win.

I'm still upset they raised the burger deluxe combo from 7.50 to 10.50 like wtf

    • $8.45 on the app, where you lookin?

      • +3

        Might be store dependant?

        Update
I know last week it was @10.50, it's now $8.45 under Colonel's Offers

Noticed hot n spicy chicken now attracts a $1.35 surcharge over original! Original recipe is no good.

It's not just KFC and honestly this is kind of a good thing. Went from getting takeway/fastfood to cooking exclusively form home every day in the last 3 months because of increasing cost of eating out. Shaved off nearly $500 from monthly bills. Lost a bunch of fat, abs starting to show out of nowhere and just feel more energetic.
KFC just taste like oversalted hart disease inducing garbage anyway compared to what they were 10 years ago.

A KFC ultimate meal was like $10 15 years ago. So it hasn't gone up much compared to other fast food places..

My local KFC decided it was now Halal. No bacon on your double zinger, can you even imagine such a cruel world.

Anyway, I haven't eaten it since. I don't mind them choosing whom to support but if they're going to decide they won't cater to my preferences as equally as anyone elses, then I'm happy not to give them any more cash.

still won't stop the rate of obesity rise in Aus..that much i'm sure

    • What will?

  • The price of KFC should fluctuate like the price of petrol. So — up or down at a moment’s notice based on the global oil price a whim

    • KFC should be linked to the price of oil. After all, that's their major component ….

  • Cheap as chips rised from 20.95 to 24.95 in one year, crazy.

    • Still $22 in my app. Sydney

      • I think it was up to $23-24 for 1 week.

  • Did somebody say KFC?

    • +1

      Did somebody say inflation?

  • KFC is so expensive now that we should be able to buy it with crypto currency. $15,000 in bitcoins for a single chicken tender.

  • KFC is the most expensive junk fast food out there, just got more expensive. meh

  • They should change their name to KAFC, Kant Afford Chicken

  • Hope this inflation BS die soon. It getting lot of people upset including me :)

  • +1

Well yeah, oil price is going up. It'll effect anything that uses oil, and KFC has more oil it it than Texas.

  • It worries me people get upset over KFC raising their prices, it's literal slop….

My fave kfc burger is the zinger burger. Today I tried the zinger stacker. It was $1.50 more but too much chicken… I also got all lettuce! Worth the $12.95 meal deal to me.
