    Cheaper from Shopping Express

I'd rather spend $4 more to deal with Amazon if something goes wrong vs Shopping Express. Especially for a storage device. OP is right to post despite being a few dollars more.

Crucial MX500 is a quality drive. You’d have to be really unlucky to get a dud.

        • +2

$4 is nothing for peace of mind

@MagnamoniousRex: It’s actually ~$6 difference. If you don’t mind the extra then go ahead with Amazon.
I think it’s completely unnecessary though. You have the option of going through either retailer or manufacturer and are backed by Australian Consumer Law in the unlikely event something goes wrong.

@FireRunner: The law can be on your side, but the time you need to spend having the law enforced will vary dramatically.

It's why I'm happy to buy some things from Kogan and Shopping Express, but certain other items I'd never consider it.

              • @kapone: Is Shopping Express RMA process as bad as Kogan’s? I’ve never returned to them so have no experience

        • I've had one die within 12 months before. It's always a possibility.

Shopping Express currently has this for $111.60 delivered + payment surcharge

    • +1

It's $112.72 delivered including Visa or Mastercard surcharge (1% surcharge). That's not bad at all.

I suppose Shopping Express would be the way to go unless you want the Amazon returns policy.

Also if you select Zip or Afterpay for payment then the surcharge gets dropped and it's then $111.60 delivered.

  • Got this at $119 from Pc Byte couple weeks ago. Local C&C ofc.

  • How do they compare to Samsung

    • This probably isn’t as good as the EVO 860/870 but will beat the QVO 860/870. Much cheaper than either those drives

  • I think $119 for a SATA 1TB SSD is too much even if it is on special.
