Asus Transformer Prime TF201 32GB Wi-Fi No Dock $450 @ JB Hi-Fi

380

JB Hifi Northland

Sticker had the price marked down to $579. Was still undecided on what tablet to buy, out of interest asked for best price and was told $450! I wasn't going to hang around wondering if he had made a mistake, had to take it on the spot. Looked like there was heaps in stock. Can't find a better price anywhere.

So he's posted a south-facing image from Northland in East Preston. Obviously just trying to use the entire compass. ;-)

        its western culture!

        • +4

Jeez, that gag went south spawnpoint! :o

      • "Go West young man!" (eg, Perth or Calif.)

  • What's so great about it?

    • +5

nice sturdy tablet that turns into a slim laptop with a dock - some of them have bugs with wifi or gps due to the metallic case. So dont forget to claim the dongle http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68431

Very tempting at that price but wanna see if there is much improvements in pad infinity when it comes out

    • Yea what shorty said. The infinity is coming out in 1-2 months time so this price might not be such a mistake.

      • +1

The TF-700 (infinity) is said to be a even higher model than the TF-201, priced to start at $100 more. Probably won't drive down the price too much since JB have it retailing for $792 with dock.

        • I've been waiting for infinity for months. When is it coming out in Australia!

        • june 10 in italy, maybe a month or so for us

    • More ports than other tablet devices too, on both the dock and screen

    • +11

If its normal then please show us where it is sold at $450 normal (not special) price.

  • No dock is kind of the normal price I believe

    • +1

+$150 for dock = $600. See my comment above.

Got mine with dock for $619 from OW a few weeks ago so I say good deal
JB Garden City wouldn't budge on their ticket price of $792. Stingy bastards

        • What can we say…

5 years ago => JB, you have done it again!!

Nowadays => JB, you haven't done it for ages..

I am kinda surprised that no one complains about JB's pricing but HN or DSE. I saw PLENTY item are as expensive as those retailer yet it seems there are far less complaint towards JB…

        • I agree bagachin.

Just got back from Big W to pick up an iPad 2 for the missus after the bloke at JB refused to price match them, cos they were "seriously low on stock".

  • Great deal! Also tell us if you've encountered any GPS issues.

  • The transformer pad 300 might be worth it for those who want 3G and the dock.

Specs are very similar to the transformer prime. http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4596&idPhone2=…

    • +1

tf300 is a lower cost version of the prime with plastic shell to fix the issues the tf201 which had with the metal case. But I rather prefer the metal casing with the tf201 (it feels sturdy and more slick!) obviously as long as ur wifi and gps is working!

This pretty much sums up the differences http://whrl.pl/Rdb2Hj

    http://are.goodsvideo.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info…

64gb version shipped to aus for about $340 AUD

if you log onto the page and its in us just change to AUD up the top, may need to go to site homepage for changing to aud, no dock but still cheaper then this

    • +1

lol have u ordered from there? It looks rather suss to me…

      • not yet but im going to shortly, also its from the uk so cheaper really

        • yes i order from overseas all the time but wouldnt go near that site tbh with u

would be very careful ordering from there but if u really want to take the plunge and risk it… let us know how u go!

        • If off to the UK in July, I think I will stock up on the SGIII and maybe also a TF201

      • I'd be wary of that site too, looks to be just a FocalPrice clone

    • ESET NOD32 wouldn't even let me go on the site:

      • oh my well ill wait for the tf700 and buy it from ofiice works or jb hifi then

  • Waiting for TF700 :)

Got one 3 days ago for $520 with dock at TGG!
using their 20% off on RRP (one day sale) and and 20% off TGG gift card from aus post!

    Issues i have encountered….
    1) haven't tried GPS out doors yet (>5min), no satellite lock…
Ps, my SDS2 manages to get a lock indoors :p
    2) WiFi and Bluetooth issue when used simultaneously…
    - Bluetooth mouse(DELL) works flawlessly with no wifi performance degradation….
    - Bluetooth headset will connect but not work on my desk (~1m from wifi router)
    - Bluetooth headset will connect and work on my bed (~2.5m from wifi router) may be with minor wifi performance degradation
    - Bluetooth headset will connect and work in my kitchen (~5m from wifi router) with major wifi performance degradation (struggles to stream video on LAN)
(performance degradation is based on streaming video from a local server— bit crude)
from my initial judgement its some kind of radio design issue…

so to conclude if you wanna stream video from a NAS and use a Bluetooth audio system… stay away

    • which store was that from? what did TGG charge you before the 20% discount?

I had to drive an hour to Warrawong TGG to grab a 64gb Prime with dock.
They had $799 rrp less 20% sale, bringing it to $640, then like you I stacked it with the 20% off gift cards, meaning it then cost me $512.

Then I went to the USA for a week and got my $58.18 GST back off the $640 I paid. So my TF201 64gb with dock only cost me $581.82.

Next I will claim the $640 cost off my tax as I can claim it as a work tool. Potentially another 30% tax break. I dont think there is any more that can be done (legally)

PS. I have ordered my GPS dongle but it still hasnt arrived.

      • TGG brighton…
But i got the 32gb version.. advertised price was $749 but rrp was $799
are you sure you have the 64gb version?? coz the web price is $879
i don't remember them having 64gb version but did not look for ether…

  • TF300T at JB Hi Fi for $498 w/o dock
    $598 w dock
Just come out last week. Springvale, VIC had one dock version left. Suppose to take care of wifi issue.

    • I just bought the TF300T (with dock) for $550 at MSY Dandenong.

  • is there anyway you can get this for the same price at another JB?

  • well just called JB Northland and they said the lowest they can do is $519. dont know how the OP got $450

  • +2

Just got one minus the dock for $412 brand new at JB in Shepparton.

    • That's a great deal, can you provide a receipt or something?

      • nvm :)

        • did you manage to get one at $412? =)

        • I actually got mine for 420 which is still pretty good, but I've been thinking of exchanging it because of light bleeding, haven't decided yet

        • that's still a good price! Could you upload the receipt too =p, whcih JBHIFI did you get it from?

        • To be honest, you don't really need a receipt, I didn't need one I just used my mouth and told the salesperson that I other JB HI-FIs were selling at this price. I got mine from Parramatta. :)

        • could you upload the receipt please?
