The price may have more to it than meets the eye, But can you please explain why is it so expensive compared to the competition?

I am no coffee connoisseur but if I am spending more than $40-45 for a Kg of coffee, I consider it expensive. $60 is a lot…if that's the regular RRP. I understand that there's a $20 off coupon.

$60/1kg is pretty common for specialty coffee

        Not on Ozbargain.

        • Yeah sure not $60 after discount but I'm talking RRP

      • What is "specialty coffee"? Yes, I am a coffee drinker.

        • Not really 100% sure but a lot of coffee roasters use this term to categorise their coffee in the market.

Hi, I completely understand where you're coming from as I was definitely on the "cheapest instant coffee on sale" side of the fence before I started my time at Rosso. Most specialty coffee brands are about $60 per kg - definitely more expensive than commodity coffee but our price isn't unusual in the specialty market!

All our blends and single origins use the highest grade beans and are roasted fresh in our Tullamarine Roastery by some really talented guys - if you've never dabbled in really high-quality coffee I recommend checking out our Flinders Lane Cafe (or any other specialty coffee shop in your area). So long as they're not in a rush most baristas will be happy to talk you through the different blends and what to look out for, even if you're not much for coffee it's a really fascinating learning experience.

      • Thank you

        • There is a difference between these kinds of coffees and the usual OzBargain deals. I'm not saying Rocco's will be amazeballs - I'm about to place an order myself, but higher end singles (in particular) are special. They're like single malt whiskies, in that each coffee tastes special and unique and memorable. But it also depends how you are brewing. I cold brew every day, which really displays what a coffee is offering. With french press, aeropress, espresso etc, this changes.

I was thinking $20 per kg for a true Oz B post.

  • You could be getting ONA or something else reputable for that price.

    • +1

ONA also makes a great product - we have massive respect for them and their team.

Our customers love our coffee and our Cafe has some of the best reviews in the city - we think any ONA fans will be really impressed with how well our coffee compares.

Fair enough. I guess the OZB people's palates will decide if it is worth it!

  • I think $60 for local coffee is quite high, and i drink a lot of coffee. I like to support local business but i think this is way to high.

    $60 a kg!!!

    • It's like They're eBay Jack

  • Is it $20 off per order or per 1kg bag? I added 2x 1kg bags to the cart and only got $10 off each bag?

    • Hi zztopgtb - it's supposed to be $20 off per bag, I've logged in and fixed the code for you! Just try and refresh your page and it should work now.

      • Great thank you!

  • After you add shipping on top, it's tough to choose this alongside other current (quality) coffee deals. Sorry OP, I'll get my fix somewhere else this month, but if you can discount the sampler in the future to get me through the door I'd love to give you guys a go!

    • Hey mate, thanks for the feedback, It's always appreciated.

I bought it up with the team and we're confident you'll love the coffee - use the discount code: ZEDSTER20 for $20 off the sampler pack.

      • That's an awesome gesture! I'm pondering whether I can use an extra 750g of coffee this month as I already have an order on the way, but really appreciate it regardless.
