[ACT] VDSL2 Broadband 75/20, $40/ Month for 12 Months (Min Cost $110, Canberra Only) @ iiNet

70

[Possibly limited to just Canberra and for VDSL2 service]
iinet appears to have their 75/20 for $40/mth for 12mths no-contract at a qualifying address. Not sure which service mix and locations but my fttn address works. (ie unsure if limited by location or if service provider POI is still a thing).

Minimum cost is $110 due to $60 setup fee and $10 for hardware delivery (creates a future return / payment obligation).

You may be able to avoid that and the $10 charge if you can request / convince them modem is not required.

May want to add this is VDSL2 not NBN

  • Says Canberra

  • +2

Not NBN and only in Canberra.

"There's a fast NBN™ alternative available in your area, Canberra! iiNet Ultra VDSL2 is run through a network that is owned, operated"

      • Sounds like a great deal for those that can get it

Worth a look if you are in one of the few area in Canberra with access to the network, significantly faster / more consistent speeds at peak times compared to similar NBN connections.

    • I'm outside of it as it seems, which suburbs are covered?

      • Using the iiNet address checker is the most accurate way.

This rather old spreadsheet of node locatisons should give you a decent idea of the areas covered if you don't want to use the address checker - please be aware that for some of these there is only coverage for parts of the suburbs listed.

I am on this, and would highly recommend. Have been on it for about 3 years and literally have not even needed to touch my modem in this time (touch wood).

Reverts to $80 a month after the initial 12 months in case anyone is wondering.

    • After 12 months of $80/month you can call up and get the $40/month deal again, effectively making it $60/month ongoing.

  • what is vdsl? How does that compare to NBN?

    • +2

Same tech as NBN's FTTN but better as in this case the copper involved from the node to your house is not 40+ year old phone cable. Also iiNet owns the entire network and doesn't have to pay thorugh the nose for access / backhaul so its easy for them to provide decent speeds without charging huge premiums.

A friend of mine uses this. Every 12 months he calls up and says he wants to cancel his service and they offer him the discounted rate for another 12 months

  • I got this applied on my existing account in Canberra (was $79 per month). I had to pay the $60 sign up fee.
