These are great, paid $21.50 so will put in a price protection claim, thanks OP. Edit Mine not the zero and still $21.50. built in heat sync case good.

Funny you can't get the RPi4 easily to cheaply now.

    • +1

      hilarious

      • Username checks out =P

Just saying the non zero case I got has been great, havent really monitored temps but the pi 4 been great as a music streamer. Still installed the other small heat sync but don't need the big one anyway

        • Which music streamer software are you using? Likes/dislikes?

          • @rentonc: Hey mate, using volumio. It's a paid version (~$45 per year I think) but all works great. I've got an SSD plugged into the back of my pi with my own FLAC collection also so can finally play those over wifi. Control with phone app and/or web interface.

They got a free version you can try I think.

Good thing is the RPi4 finally fixed the gapless playback issue and basically replaced my Chromecast Audio (but still have that plugged into the optical input on the DAC, and RPi4 into the USB input.

Oh yeah it sounds better too.

    * Flirc Raspberry Pi Zero Case

  • Can confirm, a great case. She does get a bit toasty with higher CPU use but very stable. The case acts as the heatsink.

Works great for my pi hole

  • Very good case. Had thermal problems with my official plastic case in summer, but this case is always cool to the touch.

Wish you could get a Pi for a reasonable price to go with the case!

Bought the case for future pi zero ;) Been looking around for the standalone pi but mostly core electronics has with kit format which is costly for pi zero. Been on the lookout for more than a month.

  • Have one of these for the Pi2. Brilliant little cases.

  • I have been using one of these for my 3d printer and they are quality.

    • With that little Z-height it may as well be a 2D printer. :)

The pizero that sits in my draw gathering dust might as well have a nice case

    • Have you got a Pi-Hole on your network?

    • Pretty sure you could use or sell, some pretty advanced smart home apps

  • Does the pi zero 2 fit in this one?

  • I have a Pi Zero W from a few years back. Would this suit? (Apologies, I’m a Pi noob)

    • I checked Amazon and it seems fine. I have a non W too but I can’t justify $25 if I don’t end up using both.

    • Pi Zero W

Zero W has WiFi and Bluetooth. Neither are likely to work well with this case, as it's a metal case. Expect reduced range, possibly severely reduced.

        The cover is plastic.

Users report it's fine. Maybe if you're in the fringes of reception it'll be affected.

Ordered one for my Pi ZeroW. Liked my own DIY case made from Lego, but thought it could do with the heatsink effect from this case, if I ever actually get round to constant use.

Given it's aluminium, anyone with any experience on how the wi-fi signal is impacted when you have your Zero W inside this case?

    • Amazon review said impact seems minimal / okay.

      • +2

Yeh saw that, but thought I'd check if any OzBers out there with real-world experience.

Tend to trust the OzBer user base reviews a bit more than Amazon ones.

Ive got this one and the standard RPI one running homeassistant and Hyperion talking to each other from about 20m away (router at the RPI one).
Never missed a beat with the WiFi.

          Love these cases.

  • Can you actually buy a pi zero right now?

    • -1

Depends how much money you want to spend.

      • In other words, no.

      • Glad I got a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 4GB for $92 last year, the money was never an issue as they are awesome value but guess nobody expected a bit supply issue (like GPUs)

        • I have several Pi 3s I got for about $30-$35 a piece back in the day. Thems were the days. I have to admit I've wanted a pi 4 for like 3 years now. At this point just waiting for pi 5.

          • @Budju: Yeah, all good devices, for what I am doing a 2 would probably be fine but was happy for a small computer for the price, still bloody cheap.
