    Biltong has defintely jumped on the inflation train. Feels like 3-5 years ago I could get it for $45-50 per kg.

        I get the point you're trying to make, but when it's the same price constantly, it's little-to-no different from stores that artificially jack their price so they can then offer a "discount" and post that as a bargain.
        Those sorts of purported deals are routinely condemned here. I'm not sure why this should be treated differently?

    When making jerky we prefer to avoid fat because it’s the part that goes off the quickest, is there any reason why this type of product is preferred?

      It might be true when making jerkey commercialy, but there are few things that tase as good biltong with nice yellow fat.

      Its a bit like comparing good freshly roasted ground barsita coffee with pods or instant coffee.

      That said I don't know what the OP biltong tatses like and I have not had commercial biltong that I thought that tastes great, but I'll keep on trying and will likely order some.

      As above, taste. It's like bacon or roast, some extra fattiness bring it to a whole new level.
      I haven't tried any of OP's products but def prefer the fatty variants from the local biltong place.

    Biltong jerky is definitely teeth killer. I got one tooth broken apart when biting the jerky.
    I spent hundreds dollars trying to patch the tooth but ends up pulling out.
