Agree with you. This silk material face mask provide Zero protection against dust, germs, smoke and virus; unless you wanna cover face as thieves or criminals.
Better don't wear mask at all.

          No.

Aw, you can come up with statistics to prove anything. Forfty percent of all people know that

        • +2

Pretty sure the ones my chemo nurses wear are effective and don't cost hundreds of dollars.

    • Feel the silk on your lips XD

Not saying people should actually buy this but if you sneeze/cough when wearing it, then it will almost definitely greatly reduce the quantity and distance of spread of infectious crap that your sharing with those in your immediate environment.
If everyone wore protection of even this level, things like the flu would not have as big as effect on our workforces and social lives as they currently do.

yep, tiny little spit won't get on each other's face when they talk.

    Joke of the year

When you check out it actually says the price was $9.95. This is still a fantastic deal!

    Fast fashion covid style.

  • What a bargain to get covid !!!! I still not going to buy it.

  • -3

I’d pay $25.99 if they were used :o

    • +4

      Sounds good
Anyone wants to buy it and sell the used one to @MisterEd ?

    • Is that some sort of weird kink of yours, or?

    It's leviOsa, not levioSA

  • +2

If they sold it for $25 RRP, it was a very conservative pricing. It should be $100 at least. Such a precious item.

How is this on the front page? Who is upvoting this rubbish?

If you're going to wear a mask, wear a P2/N95. We need to make these the minimum standard for mask use. All cloth masks do is create a false sense of security.

      • lovisa is a massive business that would do just fine without ozbargain so i somehow doubt that

      • -3

$3 comfortable mask for those who don't want to wear mask but don't want to get fine in certain venue including in the train, so best of both worlds.

        • +3

$3 to have a modicum of protection against the selfish t*rds who won't wear one on a train and go coughing everywhere.

There's a reason why Asian cultures wear masks when they're unwell. They're polite.

          • -1

@Koffee: Why doesn't the gov standardise the mask and make certain mask illegal to sell and wear in Australian public?

            • +1

@htc: That's up to the government. All I know is the Victorian Government has signs up saying its mandatory to wear them, yet there's nobody around to enforce any of it.

          • -6

@Koffee: If your mask works why are you worried about what others are wearing?

            • +6

@Shamasaurus: It's common knowledge that both parties wearing a mask is more effective than just one.

And if someone is wearing a mask, they won't spray their germs as much all over the surfaces around them.

      • At the hospital you will be asked to put on one provided by the hospital and change your mask on entry.

Not sure how you think this is an ad? User has been a member since 2009 and it is their first post of a Lovisa product

Ozbargain is a supportive community and the down votes on your comments suggest that others think you aren't being a supportive member of the OzB family.
Also, your allegations have absolutely no substance and by using 'potentially' in your rationale really diminishes your contention, as every deal could 'potentially' be affiliated. I think that $3 for a cloth mask delivered is quite reasonable, and even though I personally don't see any value in this product, other people might

          just give up.

    • Accusing members is not acceptable and honestly rude. Use the report link in future.

Only if you get your room-temperature IQ outta here first.

    Covid give positive votes.

  • You can't buy the material required for $3 wholesale, so it's not silk (probably rayon) and it's a useless device anyway with a fake rrp.

  • +1

This is a guaranteed waste of money. A cloth mask is better than no mask, but with so many N95 masks available - why would you pick this crap?

    Five-star review from Tamara

"Love this colour and the opportunity to coordinate my mask to my wardrobe. A very on trend colourway this season."

    • So embarrassing.

  • +1

    Was $25.99

Was that the COVID price gouging cost when masks were sold out almost everywhere during lockdowns?

  • Does this work as a good liner for a n95?

  • +3

Thanks OP. My missus had rosacea when using normal surgical masks and she found silk masks gentler to her skin. I checked around and found this and this study from good journals supported efficacy of silk as face mask. Note that they found better protection from natural silk so the main question is if Lovisa one is synthetic or natural silk? I couldn’t find such info so didn’t encourage her to stock lots.

It’s good that most ozbargainers barely had dermatological issue as we have so much hate here.

Obviously I know there is no hard evidence that masks work, so this product is a great way to get the virtue signallers off my back and maximise comfort. Plus, it’s a fashionable colour!

      • Agreed. However, silk masks might not suit everyone, I found them harder to breathe in and most don’t have nose bridges such as this Lovisa one (harder to wear glasses). Anyway, imo the price is acceptable to give a try.

  • The other day I forgot my mask and used a Woolies receipt instead. I think it may be a more effective barrier than this mask

  • This thing is a dream to wear… so silky
