  • Can I still salary sacrifice the full value of the phone if I use discounted gift cards to purchase it?

    • Yeah, because your tax invoice should still show the total price paid, otherwise it would cause price match hell for retailers.

      • Even though it says the full value was paid by gift cards and not cash/card? I can't find anything on the ATO website regarding it :/

        • +1

Yeah, regardless of method you pay same $x value of AUD for item. Cash/card/gift card doesn't matter for tax purposes.

E.g. having bought phones from JB in the past for work purposes on the Telstra deal, $700 gift card gets applied to handset but invoice will still show full value of phone.

    • You are not directly using your salary to make the purchase, so I would say No. Talk to your accountant for other tax deductions you might be able to claim.

      • Our work allows us to purchase with after tax income and then claim a salary sacrifice. It doesn't specifically have to come out of my pay.

  • The code did not work for my second order of 10 cards, then saved $1000 in total…

  • So what are we spending it on

    • +4

      Iphone 20 pro supermax.

  • +1

Stupid question, but these can be used online on the Apple Education store, right?

    • +2

      Yes.

It can be redeemed on the Apple Education Store and Apple On Campus (AOC) Education Stores (e.g. Australian Education Union, University of South Australia).

    • +4

yes and also the AEU store http://www.apple.com/au_edu_5000447/shop

      • Sorry for the dumb question but who would be eligible to purchase on this site? I find this is cheaper than the normal Apple Education Store

      • Stupid question: what is the difference between this, and can any uni students /staff (or need to be from specific uni) enjoy this price? Can non uni students / staff buy enjoy the same price too since they don't check ID?

        • +1

sometime they do ask for your student ID to validate the purchase but it doesn't happen most of the time

        • +1

I buy through education store online then authorise my partner to pick it up on my behalf while I wait outside. My theory is theres enough hoops that an employee wouldn't bother taking it any further and I doubt they are going to deny a sale because the buyer isn't onsite with ID.

  • Can you use these to buy apple care for laptops? thanks

  • +5

Purchased 23 cards and loaded to apple balance without issue. Will be used to buy the new M2 MacAir. Thanks!

  • +2

Just purchased 20 x cards at the same time ($2000 worth). Paid $1800 and gift cards all arrive within 10 seconds of payment

  • Do these gift cards expire?

    • no

  • Can I use those GF in US apple store?

    • Can I use Australian Dollar to buy stuff from shops in America?

    • No. Same for the Yanks — they can’t use their gift cards here

  • +1

When I try to redeem the gift cards on my apple account I get the following:

Connecting to the Mac App Store..

To use the Mac App Store, you need Mac OS 10.6.6 or greater. For more information, please click here.

??? Why would I need to be on a Mac to access a browser page?

    • +1

Correct. You need an Apple device to buy more Apple devices. It’s an exclusive club

      • +1

How do I get my first Apple device then? Borrow a device from someone and load money into it?

        • +1

You can load it using iTunes downloaded on Windows.

  • +1

As the Rock would say "FINALLY !!! THE 10% OFF APPLE GIFT CARD HAS COME BACK TO Oz BARGAIN!

  • This is heaps better than Coles/ woolies crummy points rewards, direct savings. Thanks op!

    • You could use Coles points to load Opal card too

      • Don't have Opal here in SA.

  • Could I buy an iphone with these?

    • +1

      Yes. Buy it online

    • +2

You can buy any Apple product with this, so enjoy

    • -5

  • +3

    OOS?

  • +2

    Sold out.

Still haven't received mine after 30 minutes, guessing they are going to cancel my order again like last time.

  • Noo out :(((

  • OOS

  • oos

  • Can I use a prepaid Mastercard to buy an apple gift card?

    • Well they're sold out now, so don't even bother

  • Activating 200 gift cards was a real pain. Kind of relieved that it’s game over… for now

    • +1

You bought $20,000 worth of gift cards?

      • +1

        Ready for Mac Pro M2.

  • Thanks op, managed to get 20 cards for myself and another 27 for a friend before it sold out, all delivered instantly.

  • I grabbed x10. Thanks for the post OP.

  • +1

Damn. Wanted to buy a bunch but was at a swimming lesson with kid. LAAAMEEE SAFETY.

  • Just received email confirming my second order was cancelled. Drats!

  • Is this the best deal you can get for Apple GC?

    • +2

      30x point is

  • Just worked fine for me.

    Thanks,

    C

  • Back in stock!!

    • That it is, bought a few more!

  • Back in Stock - Just purchased 25 x $100 . Thanks DB

  • Hows this different or any better than JB HIFI 10% off?

    • Stack this discount with the AOC store discount

    • Pretty much the same
But you get these delivered instantly so don’t need to flaff about with physical cards/activation, etc

    • iPhone is just about never discounted at launch. This gives 10%.

      *except for carrier deals

    • You can customise the device (adding RAM or SSD). JB HiFi and other retailers only sell pre-configured devices.

  • Is it likely we will get the flybuys 30x deal later this year? Contemplating waiting for that deal instead

    • +2

      That plane has taken off

      • What do you mean? I haven't seen a 30x since last year unless you mean you don't think we will see that deal ever again?

  • +2

    OOS again?

  • Damn it!

  • Literally just added to cart

  • They keep adding stock, so keep refreshing.

    • +1

I think the stock is a constant amount, just people's orders are getting cancelled so their transaction is cancelled and the previous stock is available again.

  • How does one avoid getting the order rejected :( 2 of mine went through but when I tried to reorder with a different e-mail it seems like the order won't go through

  • The code posted by OP isn't working :/

    • +1

If you had ordered earlier, then using the same email ID isn't applying the discount anymore. Using a new email Id worked. But the gift cards have not come through yet though.

      • Fk. Only 1 GC per 1 email ID?

        • +1

Just received a cancellation email that my second order was cancelled.

  • Drats, forgot to put in the discount code on checkout

    • +1

me too! i emailed them and they canceled the order within the hour!

      • I redeemed the gift card already :(

  • Aside from accidental damage, is there anything that apple care provides that is not covered by Australian consumer law?

    • -1

battery, ram, accessories and USB SuperDrive

    • hmm i see no option to pay for apple care with a gift card shame.

  • How are others using Apple GCs aside from buying from Apple Store or Apple Education stores? Thank you in advance!

    • You can use them to pay for stuff like Apple One

    • +3

Besides being able to use it to purchase Apple hardware and accessories, you can also use them to purchase:
      * Apple services such as some repairs and AppleCare (not 100% sure on this)
      * Apps for your Mac, iPad, iPhone or Apple TV from the Apple App Store (including any in-app purchases)
      * Books from the Books app
      * Music, Movies and TV Shows from the iTunes Store
      * Apple Music streaming
      * Apple News+ access to some paywalled content
      * Apple TV+ streaming
      * Apple Arcade gaming
      * Apple Fitness+ access to fitness class videos
      * iCloud Storage plans
      * Apple One Subscriptions
      * App Subscriptions, such as Streaming Services, Newspapers, Magazines etc.

    • +2

I use mine to pay for iTunes purchases such as Apps/Movie rentals.

You can also use your Apple credit to pay for subscriptions if you subscribe through Apple. But be warned this is only worth it if the subscription service charges the same amount whether you pay them directly or through Apple.
You just have to check the price the App shows on your device and then the price shown on the subscription website.

Some examples: YouTube, Binge charge more to subscribe through Apple. Stan, Disney+ charge the same amount through Apple. At least for the tier's I am subscribed to.

Also what sucks is Apple recently changed their T&C's to allow Subscription services through Apple to change their pricing at specific intervals. So this just means I have to check the prices I am paying every month and make sure they don't go up to guarantee I am getting a discount.

    • I use them to cover our iCloud subscription. We have a 2TB subscription for the family and you can only get these subscriptions directly from Apple, so thanks to this deal they are now effectively $13.50/month instead of $15/month (managed to get two $100 gift cards when they restocked, so I'm set for about a year now).
