  • Is the Sony HT-A9 still out of stock everywhere?

    • +1

Unfortunately it is. I pre-ordered mine here [https://www.audiotrends.com.au] and waited ~2 months before I got them.

  • OP, what are your thoughts on HT-A9? Worth the hype?

    • +3

Coming from a dedicated 5.1 channel Yamaha System with dedicated Receiver: The sub is a must. I cannot stress this enough. W/O the sub, the immersion is still there, and full-on (and mind blowing), but at the end everything feels kinda 'tinny' and 'meh'. With the sub, you now have a comparable full replacement without the hassle of wiring and with Dolby Atmos imho.

      • Is there two sizes of Sub available for the Sony A9 ?

There's a very comprehensive review on YouTube and the reviewer strongly recommends the bigger one. He specifically says the smaller one is simply not up to the task and would be the weakest link in the system. Basically says the small one is a waste of time. Was quite interesting.

Is this the big one or the smaller one?

        • +1

This is the larger one. The smaller one is the SA-SW3 and I agree you need the larger one if going with the HT-A9 or in general.

    • An actual sub is a MUST for any stereo system - 2 inch drivers are never going to create the rumble that even a 6-8 inch sub can

      • Agreed!

  • Combine with 10% off Gift Cards to bring to ~$648

  • out of interest is it possible two wireless pair two of these subwoofers to an A7000, one on either side of the lounge ?

  • It seems like a decent subwoofer, I got a REL T9x, and it has the same design (passive radiator and sealed enclosure). You can keep it close to the read wall or in the corner of the room to enhance the bass effect. Buying the subwoofer is the easiest; placement and tuning need some time to figure out a perfect location.

    • Placed it almost next to the TV Unit near the wall. Not being a self-declared audiophile (my wife disagrees), I think it's doing it's job quite well.

      • Try different locations, ask wife to tell you where it's the loudest, you can keep it there. Most likely a corner.

        • Ha ha, good testing mechanism! :D

I got the soundbar and woofer few years ago (not the same one) for $400ish. If you're paying this much for a woofer might as well get the Bose

  • If you have the HT-A7000

Find and purchase an additional item worth $21+ and use code SNSJULY to save an additional $29on the speakers. I bought a long HDMI 2.1 cable.
