For $150 more (can be cheaper if you can get discounted ebay code), you can get Dell G3223Q 32" UHD 144Hz, 600 nits brightness delivered.

Though Dell doesn't have USB-C connection.

Edit: Dell has 1 less HDMI connection than the deal's monitor.

also, some people prefer 28" instead of 32".

for console gaming 32" is probably better but for PC gaming 28 is easier to fit in your field of vision when you're using keyboard and mouse.

I'd think that UHD @ 28" is wasted pixel. Might as well go for QHD for cheaper alternative at that size?

        • +2

Well the working monitor Dell S2722QC is kind of OzBargain favorite, and it's a UHD 27' monitor. Personally I think you can always scale to 150% if you find the original ratio on 27 inch is small.

          • @Masticccc: Of course, that compared to its QHD competitor is only $50 difference. I'd definitely get the UHD one if I'm in the market for it.

However, what if I tell you the competitor to this deal is a whopping $300 less (the S2721DGF).

I'd personally go for the 2721DGF if I'm in the high refresh rate 27-28" monitor.

That being said, I'm not accounting for people who values +1 HDMI and +1 USB-C input. But is it really worth $300 more?

@juns: Well I only comment regarding your opinion is that "UHD 28' is wasted pixel", while in fact many ppl enjoy UHD at this size. Now you talk more about price/performance, in this case "is it worth 300$ more to get x2 pixel density on the same screen size". Again this is more of a taste, if they really need UHD, then they will agree to spend 300$ more, if not then they won't. In the end this is still the cheapest IPS 4K high-refresh monitor, if you lower the price you either get a VA or just 60-75 Hz monitor to keep that UHD.
For me I already have a 2K 27' monitor (Gigabyte M27Q) so I decide to jump upto 32' 4K with the Dell G3223Q at 846$ so UHD 28' is not my choice.

@juns: 2712DGF doesnt do HDMI 2.1 also, many PS5 games do not support 1440p even though now PS5 officially supports 1440p.

So, really, 4K options even at 27/28 will benefit console gamers. I can see the target market of 28" 4K market to be used for those who would like to connect their PS5 to the same monitor as their PC.

Decent price for the spec. Same price at scorptec as well

  • Anyone know if this will play nicely with Mac? And whether this has USB-C power delivery?

    • +1

I have the Dell S2722QC which is fine with my M1 mini at 4k, so this would likely be fine. Did some searching regarding USB-C power delivery but couldn't find anything (the S2722QC has this).

      • Got the same Dell monitor, looking to get something with a higher refresh rate and this caught my eye, hopefully I'll be able to find a definitive answer for the power delivery!

    • I have this monitor connected to my mac mini. It works great. 4K @ 150Hz works fine.

  • Just FYI, my old Viewsonic was marketed as 144hz but was actually a 120hz panel factory overclocked, it used to flicker at 144hz. Apart from that it was a good screen for the money.

  • Is this full bandwidth HDMI 2.1?
