There's no Jack here. dealbot was expecting a rise in prices in December where the S2721DGF was $429. Now here we are in July and it's $399. Gotta give credit where it's due given how everything is going up these days :)

      • Well said good sir or madam

      • +3

Theres this weird thing about inflation where, as demand drops, companies give sales/discounts to sell product before consumers start to reel back in spending. I guess its a good thing for those who can afford it.

  • -1

    Bring G3223q to $600 pls

    • Doubt it, M32U just get lowest at 799$ so probably 750$ would be more reasonable (though I dont see it coming soon either).

      • I will just wait then (using AW3821DW and 2 LG 4K monitor just want another one for PS5)

      • Which one is better, G3223Q or M32U?

        • +1

          https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/gigabyte-m32u-v…
Personally, the main thing to decide is whether you need KVM or not, as for myself I already have a sub-monitor with KVM (M27Q) so I don't need another one with it. Also G3223Q doesn't support Gsync officially so if you are green team that's also a thing to consider (you CAN use Gsync, but need some tweaking).

          • @Masticccc: Aren't they both G-SYNC Compatible (Tested) according to your link?

            • +1

@sh4wnc: Pretty sure it's a hit or miss for the Dell G3223Q, cause I'm using it right now and it was stuttering as hell at default setting (some people using it fine at the beginning). Also Dell didn't mention G-sync compatible anywhere, whereas the 2k sibling G3223D they clearly said "G-sync compatible" so in paper it's not.

              • @Masticccc: what does default setting mean in this context for g-sync? They have more than 1 other than on/off?

        • +1

G3223Q if u dont have color calibration tools then go for Dell one. Dell has very good pre-calibrated color profile. Also, the Gigabyte has bad quality control and warranty.

    How much is the AW3423DW?

  • Is it still worth it to buy a S2721DGF? It's quite old now. Better off waiting for a successor or something better for a few hundred more?

    • +13

Well, if you buy one today, it'll be brand new!

    • +1

The closest I think they have to a newer model in the same segment would be the S2722DGM, which is a bit of a step down in my opinion? (VA panel, no usb ports, etc.)

    • +2

Doesn't exactly feel old, it has all the features you want from a gaming panel at a budget price.

    • +18

It's still a 27" 1440p Nano IPS panel at 165 Hz, if that appeals to you. I see this kind of monitor as the best "bang for buck" for PC gaming right now (current-gen consoles are a different story).

There's a few things newer monitors in this category do better, but you're often paying a bit more than $400 to get those features, and often not getting them all at once.

      • somewhat better contrast - LG's Nano IPS panels are often around the 850:1 or 900:1 where a typical IPS is around 1000:1 and some newer panels on competing products can hit up to 1200:1 (a long way short of VA but still impressive for IPS)
      • KVM switches
      • USB-C input
      • 4K input downsampling - something the panel in the S2721DGF should be capable of, but Dell doesn't support and will not be upgrading the firmware to do so, so you can't plug in an Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, or Google Chromecast for instance and get 4K output.
      • higher refresh rates (170-240 Hz)
      • wider colour gamuts (some panels have better support for more complete DCI-P3 and even AdobeRGB coverage)
      • proper sRGB modes - again, something Dell could support but don't on this one
      • more comprehensive HDR support - the HDR capability of monitors like this should be seen as "it can accept a HDR signal but not really do anything with it beyond SDR". I personally just turn HDR off because it's easier to keep everything in SDR.

To give my own $0.02, I have two of these, and I don't see myself upgrading until one of the following is true:

      • ~27" 16:9 or ~34" ultrawide 4K QD-OLED panels at 240 Hz are available with fewer trade-offs vs something like the AW3423DW (such as better support for triangle sub-pixel arrays to reduce colour fringing, and coatings that better mitigate grey-shifted blacks when viewed in bright rooms), or
      • there are monitors that can hit 600 Hz (for perfect playback of 24fps, 25fps, 30fps, and 60fps video content on the one panel) without significant trade-offs.
      • +2

Thank you, a very helpful post. Thanks for taking the time and effort to post this info, exactly what I was looking to figure out.

Bought the Dell G3223D last time. Fantastic monitor 👍
Prefer it over my xiaomi 34 ultra wide.

  • +8

I rate the S2722QC for Wfh office setup. Usb c is 👌

  • +3

If someone was theoretically buying one of these as a Max Mini display, would I be correct in thinking the S2722QC is probably the best choice given the PPI (~163ppi) being closest to 220 mark of the native iMac/retina displays?

    • +4

S2722QC is fantastic. I've got it side-by-side with my MacBook air retina and they both look great together.

      • Awesome, appreciate it!

      • Thank you. :)

      • Great to hear. Is yours an M1? I've read about flickering issues with these Dell monitors.

        • +1

Yeah an M1. I've had flickering issues with the other non-USBC ones (S2721QS), which was sorted by using a particular USBC-to-HDMI adapter with the appropriate HDMI cable. I've never had a problem with the S2722QC.

The adapter was this one, currently just below $20:

          • +1

@cobberboy: Good to know - I pulled the trigger this morning and bought the S2722QC. Cheers

    • +1

Same question. Mum’s been asking for a second screen just for her MacBook. No gaming.

      • +12

I think you're being too restrictive in banning her from gaming.

    • Can’t comment if it’s the best choice but I highly recommend reading/watching these two links before buying a monitor for a Mac.

In summary there is a performance hit when scaling for any non 5K displays and your panel will be scaled but not look like a retina one. It you are not doing anything intense like video editing and don’t mind the similar but not retina look you will probably be happy for now though.

  • Any 32” 4K USB-c monitors on sale?

  • +2

Damnnn, no AW3821DW deal? I've been waiting so patiently :(

  • I was looking at the 27" 1440p but it seems Dells lack audio out? I find it super convenient to plug in my speakers to my monitor so I can switch between laptop and desktop and have sound work on both via HDMI/DP cable.

    • Dgf monitor might have it?

      • Yes

  • Any recommendations for a nice 32 inch monitor that doesn't have to be gaming capable?

  • +2

AW3821DW please! If you can please do it, I promise to go through your facebook page and then purchase it!

  • any Woolies employees, get 5% off the eBay GCs through plusclub

  • Any good laptop deals? With consideration of 20% off eBay store, it's only slightly cheaper than Dell's own website price…

  • Why so many choices!

I need them mostly for office work (looking at numbers, line of codes), Netflix, and casual gaming (No FPS game and No AAA+ title).

I dont want to spend too much as well, if the differences are not much for my need. Will S2721DS be sufficient, or it is better to go S2722QC for $100 more?

    • Get the QC for that 4K goodness. But you may as well get the QS and save $50 unless you want USB-C (which the DS doesn’t have) 🤷‍♂️

      • Thanks for the input! My laptop does not seems to support video over the USB-C port. So sounds like the QS is the one.

    • I use the DS for the same purpose and it's great. Considering buying a second.

Don't see the appeal of 4K at the distance I sit. Also easier on the GPU when gaming to only output in 2K.

Hard to beat the monitor at that price.

  • So I know the S2721DGF can be used as a dock for a laptop, but can it also be plugged into my PC via DP + USB C so that my PC can also control the mouse and keyboard? I would only be using once at a time either PC or laptop. I appreciate any help!

    • I don't understand your question?

Are you saying USB C adapter to display port to the monitor?

Lots of options but I'd need to understand your requirements to help

If you're gaming don't use an adapter or HDMI if you can't avoid it

      • So I'd like to plug my laptop into the monitor for both display and use of keyboard and mouse. When my laptop is not in use, I'd like to plug my PC to the monitor via a DisplayPort cable and if possible a usb C connection to monitor so that I can use my keyboard and mouse.

I pretty much want to keep my Mouse and keyboard connected to the monitor and be able to easily switch from displaying my laptop to my PC. Hope that makes sense.

        • +1

Yeah this use case is becoming more common, you want to look for the ones that have both USB C and KVM capability, this will allow you to do what you're wanting. Same thing I'm looking for but in a large ultrawide

        • +1

Gigabyte M27Q does this (I use this, has a built in KVM, slightly slower than the Dell in response times but not majorly, and slightly better contrast ratio). Note the type C is only 10w so won't power your laptop but will connect a display/accept it as a USB hub.

I actually have a ugreen USB 3-port type A + ethernet dongle in the USB port and i get gigabit ethernet/extra USB ports so it swaps my mic, ethernet, webcam, USB audio dac, and charges my benq lightbar, and I just swap between inputs.

I have the S2722QC from a previous deal connected via Type C to the laptop and that acts as my laptop charger. 2 type C cables into laptop. Rest into the monitor or PC direct. Works great.

  • Anyone have the S2721QS and notice terrible backlighting? Bought two for work, and the corners are really dark (and especially the left and right edges) with both. Have two S2721D's at home and the backlight is nearly perfectly uniform.

Both had scratches on the stand and the packaging was a bit rough, so could be returned stock as others have noticed :(.

  • Damn !! Just ordered S2722DC for $356 through dell and got it delivered today. Can I return it and buy S2722QC? Or Can I ask Dell to exchange my DC to QC? I can pay the extra $$. DId anyone tried that ?

    • Dell has a pretty good return policy I think, so you should be able to return it and grab the other one.

  • Thoughts on the G3223D or the S3422DWG for gaming and media consumption?

Also considering the Samsung Odyssey G7 32" if it ever goes on sale too.

    Thanks guys.

  • Planning to get a 4K as a second monitor, solely for Netflix and casual browsing. My main monitor is 1080p and I have a 3060Ti. Which of these should I get?

  • Any good work station/desktop stations on special?

  • Are these a good deal? or have they been cheaper before?

  • Is S2721DGF good for WFH, if Someone can share their experience?

    • +1

Should be good enough. Also S2721DS or QS is good enough if you don't need high refresh rate for gaming.

    • +2

I have been using it for my gaming and my WFH monitor for over a year. I am so happy with it.

IPS panel and the size is great for a office monitor. It has got two HDMI ports so they are connected to my Xbox and my company laptop.

I highly recommend it if you wanna use it for both purposes. But if you do not play a game…then you have cheaper options for WFH monitor out there.

      • Thanks, looking to get one mainly as work monitor and occasional gaming.

  • Would it be an overkill to get another S2721DGF as a second screen? Should i just get the DS or QS?

    • do you need 165hz refresh on your second monitor? if no, then yes overkill.

I suppose still get it if you already have it as your main monitor and want your second screen to match.

    • I did, no regrets

    • I went full overkill with a second G3223D. Probably just fine with two DGF's

  • Would there be a noticeable difference if upgrading from 2 x Dell U2311H (2010) monitors? Used for general WFH, but also some photo editing and gaming (AC: Origins, Death Stranding, Cyberpunk… Monkey Island). Primary monitor is on a DP switch to switch between the work laptop and desktop, 2nd monitor is always connected to the desktop - so would probably need to stick with 2 x 24" monitors.

    • If you go to 27" 1440p IPS monitors, you will see a massive quality improvement, as long as you have a PC powerful enough to run them that is. It's night and day compared to my old Benq XL2411 24" 1080p.

      • As tempting as that sounds, I neither have the space on my desk for 2 x 27" + laptop, or the GPU for it (RX 6600 XT) - ha! I think 24" 1080p is my only option here, unfortunately, but I'll see if there's a way to make it work. Not sure how much of a noticeable difference it is just with faster refresh rates, or if panels have improved in other ways - perhaps it's not worth the upgrade unless also going to 27".

  • I moved from 2x 24" FHD screens to 2x 32" 4K screens (Dell S3221QS) and they are a great combination.

    • 2nd monitor with curve good?

  • +1

    Thanks Op! ordered the S2721DGF….

  • thanks OP bought a G3223D

  • Thanks OP bought another S2722QC

  • Snatched a S2722QC, have been waiting for <400 price for a while. Thanks OP!

  • How many gift cards can we use for ebay checkout?

Tried using 3 and it's not letting me confirm and check out

    • I used 5 this time

      • Somehow didnt work on browser. Checked out when I used mobile ebay app.

    • $1500 max

  • If anyone's desperate, the code brings the AW3821DW down to $1599.

  • Do you really need a 4K monitor for WFH? I am tossing up between getting S2721DS and QS.
    Any suggestion?

    • -2

FHD is the best for WFH some softwares don't support higher resolution very well.

    • At this price, worth considering imo. No issues on my end with software - but I only really deal with Excel, Power BI, outlook etc in accounting.

Definitely prefer the extra pixels over my home setup (S2721D at home, Q for work). Make sure your work laptop/desktop can run it though.

  • S2722QC or S2721QS? Looking at using it to connect to my PS5 and PC and run side by side with my already owned S2721DGF, and will be used as my movie/media screen for PC. Leaning more towards the S2721QS as I don't seem to need the USB-C, it has a displayport (the other doesn't), has Free-Sync and runs $50 cheaper, unless i'm missing anything? TIA!

    • Writing this to you on this very monitor (2721QS) that I've had for the past year. It's excellent. Great colour and it's super clear. I do wish I bought something slightly larger for office use, but if you're happy with the size it's amazing for the price.

    • S2721QS has better contrast than S2722QC (1300 vs 1000:1), go for it if you don't need USB-C.
