Good for playing minecraft at 1080p?

    • +24

I have this card and it crushes MapleStory @ 720P with everything cranked

    • +2

It runs ok on medium details with my Intel Celeron G4900. Thinking about adding a seconds 6900XT.

  • +6

    Can this run Crysis?

    • +2

Come'on man, nothing is that powerful yet

    • +15

      $1000?

      • +11

        yea when 5090 releases

      • Expired, $1499 now.

  • +14

Great price, great GPU. If you need a card and you have been waiting a long time, get it. I said this exact thing in June and it still holds true. A 6900XT will not go much cheaper, despite what people are telling you. If we're lucky it will drop once or twice to around $900 and it will run out within minutes at that price. That deal in June was however for an ASUS TUF Gaming TOP Edition, certainly better than the model above for the same price. So maybe if you want to wait for higher-tier models of the 6900XT or hope the 12Gb RTX 3080 drops to around this price, then you can wait a bit longer I guess. But there's no guarantee regarding prices.

I feel like we are approaching another $1000 2080ti situation.

Remember what all the "experts" said back then.

Yes, nothing wrong at all with HODL. There is absolutely oversupply and AIBS absolutely will discount further, its all a gamble

      • Yep anything can happen…. And will

      • +2

When did a new 2080 Ti drop below $1000? And that was on average a $1300 to $1600 card before the discounts at the end-of-life cycle period. The lowest I remember it being sold was around $1050, I think. If you're talking about the used market, that's a different story. A lot of people panic sold their 2080 Ti and 2000 series cards before the release of the 3000 series, and then immediately regretted it when every website crashed on release and the entire new generation was sold out for months on end within minutes of release. If this happens again with the used market, you can be assured the people that will take advantage of it and sell their 3000 series cards will be the ones that have been hammering them 24/7 with crypto mining for a few years, leaving little life in them for the users who buy them.

        • There was definitely a $999 2080 Ti deal right before the 3000 series came out after its announcement

    • Except a 850$ to 950$ 7700XT will have latest features and similar or better performance in couple of months (hopefully).

      • +2

There is literally no way I would gamble on any part of that (price, availability, actual performance..) to save $100!

        • +1

Its just a choice. I wouldnt miss out on better RT and hardware FSR 3. Atleast with 6900XT, we know we can never do proper usable RT. 6900XT will always get cheaper over time.

      • +3

this can be said about any model bought at any period in time, the one in a year or two will be cheaper and better performing

        • But it so near now.

    • -6

Wait till mining boom 2.0 late this year or early next year, you'll be paying $3000 for 4080.

      keep HODLING yall

      • +1

Keep DREAMING :D Eth merge is happening and crypto is predicted to fall further.

        • -1

          bwahahahahaha

          • @[Deactivated]: I did NOT neg you BTW :)

            • -2

@John Doh: Must be jimmy as usual…

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: Jimmy does not neg me ;)

                • -1

                  @John Doh: I wonder who negged you…

                  • @[Deactivated]: Maybe its non-LHR ;)

                    • @John Doh: its probably LHR.

                      • +1

@[Deactivated]: They are both same now anyway.

                        • @John Doh: hahahahahahaha

                        • @John Doh: you see the 3080 price is holding steady at $1099. for those that cannot afford, ps5 or xbox can be an alternative.

                          • @[Deactivated]: Or just wait for a couple of months, just couple of months not 10 years like you always mock and the 7700XT will rape it flat with better RT and FSR 3 and 12GB for a lesser price. If people cant wait that long, its thier money thier wish.

                            • @John Doh: you've been talking wait couple of months in the last 2 years. your definition of couple of months soon to become an eternity…

                              • @[Deactivated]: I was just mentioning what leakers said. But things got shat due to overstock. Who could have guessed how many chips Huang had fried? But October/November is the normal release cycle and its well worth the wait.

                                • @John Doh: leather jacket man is smart, of course they sell most of the 30xx series first before deploying the 40xx series. at the end of the day he's the winner.

      • Your prophecies have sucked so far, but if you make enough predictions, you'll get some right and claim you were right all along.

  • +3

    damn. 1080ti was 1k a year ago

  • I honestly can't decide between this and RTX 3080. Should I value raw power over RT and DLSS? I have a GT 710, so literally anything is a good upgrade

    • +18

Why not a 6600XT when they drop to $350 and then see how things shake out in the next gen?

      • +1

I think I might just go with your idea. Thank you!

        • +1

All good.. Better than my $700 single fan 3060 haha mind u I sold my 5600XT for $500… So the hurt is a tiny bit less

          • -1

@scud70: you can thank the miners for the $500 5600XT, otherwise you would have sold it at $50 instead.

kiss all those miners feet, they bring you wealth from all your old cards. now go.

      • 100% this is the best option for those without a gpu / in need of an urgent upgrade.

    • +8

get a 6600 or 6600xt and play at 1080p, then wait to se what happens next gen,

    • +3

This smashes a 3080. Even beats a 3080ti in a lot of titles.

      • Yep fantastic cards, Recent DX11 driver improvements have made it even better in older games.

    • What pc do you have the GT 710 in? Unless you bought it specifically as a temporary video output, I'm guessing the 6900xt might be overkill for your current system.

      • I've been building a computer from scratch for awhile, but I've been saving the gpu for last because it's expensive and I had that GT 710 as a spare card.

My current specs: 5600X CPU, X570s Aorus Elite MB, 64GB 3200MHz RAM (was going for 32GB but found 64GB for similar price) , 850w PSU, 1TB m.2 (5000s). Sounds kinda ridiculous to have such a low end card with those parts lol

        • +1

all good then :) I wonder how much better the gt 710 is than the integrated graphics, haha

    • They're effectively tied when not taking into account RT and DLSS, there really isn't much-if-any more 'raw power' that the 6900XT has, only more VRAM.

  • +4

I wonder if these prices are winning over Nvidia buyers?

    • +2

yes it won me over. I upgraded from RTX 3070 to this fpr 30% more 4k performance. I bought this over 3080 due to lower price.

      • -4

upgraded for free with your 3070 ROI from mining. something that most on ozb failed to see or admit or embrace.

        • Many did. But how will they admit they mined and kept all the coins for themselves without selling during peak prices and were left with only overprised mined cards.

          • @John Doh: Some in ozb here claim they even bought a millions dollar house for free with the crypto profit. how would you vet what he said? I heard pigs do fly as well, or was it monkeys? ask Mr Burns.

            • @[Deactivated]: All liers. At the end, most lost with crypto than made gains. Some lucky ones made the gains. Like the electric car manufacturer's owner with his pet dog.

              • @John Doh: not all, most are liers. At the end ATO knows the truth. I had to declare my gains truthfully, and that's between me and ATO.

                • @[Deactivated]: Did that gain include cost of elecricity and overpriced GPUs ;)

                  • @John Doh: LLOOOLLLLL, ever heard of negative gearing?

    • I went from a 3080 10gb to the asus 6900 xt deal. Better raw performance and only cost me $70 after selling my card. Not concerned about RT. Can’t even use it in native resolution anyway.

      • RT in general has been extremely disappointing, I paid the RT tax when I got my 2080Ti, ended up just leaving it off most of the time because it was hardly noticeable most times. What was noticeable was the drastic performance drop and image quality issues DLSS had. Went a 6900xt 18 months ago and haven't regretted it at all, the 6900xt can do RT if you want decently it still isn't worth turning on imo.

  • +4

/me cries in gsync only monitor

  • heard this card removes the pixels in censored videos…nothing to see here, move along

  • when it comes to pure rasterization a 3090/ti cant beat these

  • +2

Does anyone know if there's any truth to AMD cards not playing well with PC VR? I've heard they stutter and aren't as smooth as Nvidia.

    • +1

My 6900xt toxic edition doesn't stutter on my oculus quest 2 via pc link cable. My previous 5600xt had issues.

    • I have a 6900 XT and Quest 2 and no stuttering in Half Life Alyxx VR.

  • is there much difference over the MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT?

  • +10

Support team red make the green team bleed for overpriced cards

  • Want to buy but umart warranty is pathetic

    • I thought they had full RMA support with AusPost return labels, do they make it hard to get the label?

  • Geez this is mighty tempting.

I'd really been aiming more for a 6700 XT type level but this might future proof a little more for a few hundred $

  • Yummy bookmarked 👍😁

  • My 2080 Super struggles sometimes in MSFS2020, would the 6900XT be a decent upgrade?

    • Yes, this has crazy good benchmarks for MSFS. Better than 3080ti

  • OZBARGAINED! :(
