  • What's the minimum loan amount to get the gift card

    • maybe 50000 as thats the minimum loan amount and there is nothing in the t and c about minimum. Must be a member of one big switch

  • Already have an app in progress with them..what to do, that only covers the settlement and valuation fee $500

    • its only for new customers. I guess they stilll save on those fees then (dont have to pay them)

Not the lowest rate going at the moment.

As someone that's used Loans.com.au exclusively for three properties in the past few years, I'll be using Athena on my next mortgage. I was really unimpressed that loans.com.au consistently failed to pass on the full RBA interest rate drop whereas Athena did.. it's a shame as I like the familiarity of loans.com.au but the fact they were completely resistant to passing on a reasonable rate cut when I enquired and provided my history means I'll look elsewhere.

    • I used to be with Loans.com as well, but the rates they were offering new customers were substantially lower than the rates they were giving me, which annoyed the crap out of me. Whenever I called to complain, they kept saying “the cost of funding has gone up on your loan”. I asked why they couldn’t get the new funding and use it to pay off my loan (and I would have a new mortgage similar to a new customer) and they couldn’t give me a straight answer. Very happy I moved to Athena 4 years ago, and have not looked back since. The rate I am on is the same they give to new customers. No longer getting ripped off

This is nowhere as good as the OneTwo bank rate of 3.09% with a potential $7500 cashback

    • Where are you seeing the $7500 cashback? I can only see $2000 on their site?

      • It's on the main page. $5000 cashback and $2500 bonus payment, which requires additional payments to mortgage.

Minimum $500k loan, only available in limited areas and last time I checked they don't offer redraw or offset.

        • ahh damn, $500k loan breaks it for me. $4k cashback at ANZ is better for me.

Existing loan.com.au customer for about 5 years. Very unhappy. Lender did not pass on the last 2 rate cuts in a row, then immediately raised the rates in line with RBA cash rate hikes (effective within a week or so) this year. Will definitely re-finance for around a one full precent saving once my personal circumstances allow (steady income proof for an extended period)

I have 2 properties financed with them, and the owner-occupier one now charges me 4.75%. Hope this information will help fellow ozbargainers with their re-financing decisions/strategies (Churning maybe?)
