These didn’t even get an update to OneUI 1.0 on Android 9, max these ever got was Android 8… Thats rough. You’re better off going for a brand new Motorola E7 from Woolworths (posted yesterday) and unlocking the phone potentially for free or very cheaply.

That’s not the point, and not everyone on OzBargain is familiar with installing custom roms. Eitherway the phone is not a good deal even if you can manage an Android 12 rom on it.
Not saying custom rooms are for everyone. Just saying it's an option for those interested in tinkering.
