Yes 7" Tab 2 is cheaper than Tab 1 but not as good as Tab 1.

This might be a dumb question. Could you tell me why tab 1 better than tab 2 ?- Super AMOLED screen and higher resolution
- Faster CPU
- More internal memory
- Longer battery life time
- Better camera.
- The only disadvantage of 7.7" is the OS, still waiting for official ICS.

jeebus. the tab2 is same or worse hardware wise in every respect than the 7.7. the 7.7 has bigger battery, bigger screen, but is still thinner and lighter than tab2.
The 7.7" is not Tab 1…Tab 2 is the follow up to Tab 1 (the original Samsung Galaxy Tab/Tab 7+). The 7.7" tab is a different (higher) range.
So tab 2 is newer, but from a lower range than 7.7"… It's intended as a budget alternative.
(Samsung should have named everything less confusingly)
Tab 2 specs are lame !! the only current feature it has is ICS, and we don't even know if that is an advantage
in the comparison it lists the tab 2 as being able to do video calls but not Tab 1. is it just cause no ICS?

I totally agree, price crashes just as other Android tablets. If featuring 3G and GSM phone call then this price seems worthy.

FYI I saw the Tab 10.1 back to a month ago selling at $399 at OZ Park WA TGG. Wouldn't call it a good deal now when it was already $12 cheaper amonth ago.
I have one of these. Fastest ever tab on honeycomb. Never regret gettin it.
By the way, do you guys know that for the WiFi+3G model for this Galaxy Tab 7.7, you can send sms and make calls?

As I know my colleague can use the Optus Tab to make phone call.
Pretty much basic knowledge, all android tablets can make calls so long as they have the proper hardware in it (3G connectivity and microphone).
Did you know you can make calls on your phone phone….? :)

I am not usually one to put off buys due to rumors, but it is pretty much common knowledge that Google is releasing a <$300 nexus quad core tablet , possibly as soon as Google IO on June 27. This will seem like a ripoff if that is true. Yesterday Acer revealed a similar tablet but its release is not till the end of the year
