PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Service provided by Telstra Corporation Ltd ABN 33 051 775 556.

For full consumer advice including Critical Information Summaries, Privacy Policy, and Fair Play Policy please visit the Boost Mobile website.

If you are already on Boost, you CAN NOT port your existing number to this sim card.

This is a brand new Boost sim card.

PORTING YOUR OWN EXISTING NUMBER TO BOOST:
You can request porting your own number to Boost when activating the SIM. Before porting your number, contact your current service provider to confirm personal details. Make sure your Name and Date of Birth registered with the number are 100% correct including spaces. Ask to update your details if anything is incorrect. Once confirmed, provide the exact same details to Boost to initiate the porting. Some carriers will send you an SMS to authorize the porting request, so make sure the current SIM is inserted until the service is disconnected. Telstra users need to contact Boost first before porting their number.

  • Thanks OP, I've just ordered 2

    • Thank you.

    • +1

Same! Except I got the 280 GB sims.

  • +1

Do you have any offers for existing clients? Can you please share?

  • +1

Existing customers can port out to other networks and then port back in with this sim to Boost again.
    Thanks

    • What’s the most convenient way to port out to other networks?

      • +4

With a $2 SIM from Coles Mobile (they don't require you to recharge on activation last I checked)

      • +4

Gomo is pretty convenient if you have a phone compatible with eSIM.

They have a 1 month free trial you can hop on to.

      • +4

Port out to Kogan for $2.5 for a month and then port to Boost. M long time customer with boost every year do the same.

        • For a month? Why not switch to boost right after?

          • +1

@kelvach: nah m just saying….u get a month in $2.5 - as the Op said u can port out and port bank in anytime. No minimum time.

            • @vwrite: How long do you usually port out for?

              • +1

@Chippy47: Generally, I keep it for a month - why waste money. Boost sim will anyways come with some duration within which u can activate.

    • If you port out, is there a minimum amount of time you must be with another provider (e.g one month) or can you just port to another cheap starter sim and back immediately

      • +3

There is no minimum or maximum time restriction regarding porting out or porting back.
        Thank you

    • +6

I've had Boost "port" my number from my old Boost sim to my new Boost sim twice without having to port to a different network, they done it via Boost live chat.

      • So you don’t have to go to a different provider ?

        • You are supposed to, but Boost support on live chat switched my number from my old Boost sim to the new one with credit.

      • +5

        That's true. I testify.

      • Unreal. My current one expires in December and I was curious about how to navigate this!

      • Could you keep your number?

        • +1

Yes they move your number to your new sim with the credit.

      • +1

Yeah, they ported me to a new starter SIM in May without any issues. They asked why I didn't recharge and I just said because it was cheaper this way. No further questions asked.

      • Thanks Just did the chat transfer number to new sim, all very easy and no questions, they just did s asked.

        • Did it take a while for the chat to load? Mine has been connecting to an agent for a while and not sure if it’s my device or they are busy.

          • +1

@deanz3: I had that happen, try a disabling any ad blockers or try a different browser.

        • Excellent!

  • +1

is boost better than belong cause belong's connection is terrible

    • +7

      boost = full telstra
      belong = wholesale telstra

      • +1

and Telstra just adds 5g on top?

        • +4

Boost has 5g, speedtested and got 1 Gbps :D

        • +2

          Boost + eSim = Telstra

          • @DanielYuuuu: e sim? explain

            • @wouldyou: Boost does not support eSim whereas Telstra supports eSim.

              • @DanielYuuuu: ahh I get you. Thought you were hinting that its available now… Had to give up the esim for my apple watch when I moved to Boost

        • +2

I thought the 5G for Boost was just a trial. I have a vague memory of the trial ending in Sept/Oct???

I was easily getting 800mbs downloads on the nearby 5G tower.

        • +1

          Boost's 5G trial runs until 28/11/2022

    • Unless you are in a real rural area, the difference in the coverage of boost vs. belong is not significant.
Most likely if you experience terrible connection from belong, you will expierence same terrible connection from boost.

  • +2

Any news on when Boost will have eSIMs?

    • +1

Thought I saw someone mentioned 1st September.

    • Lack of esim is the deal breaker for me

  • 1200 mins to standard numbers to 30 selected destinations

Every month or for the whole year?

    • +1

      Hi,
1200 Minutes for 365 days to 30 selected countries.
      Thank you

      • -1

That's not sufficient for regular international calls. Is there any way to increase the minutes?

        • +3

          By recharging

        • +1

Buy Add ons or buy a $300 Boost sim and get 3600 Minutes to 30 selected destinations and check if your required country is included in there.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/711448
          Add-ons are normally expensive.
          Thank you

        • +1

That's the change from the previous any time plus… I could call Colombia friends unlimited… Wasnt the best move by boost for me.

      • $30 for 28 days plan would give you 300 minutes every 28 days.

  • +1

This is a great deal, bit Boost are a stupid company. They offer no deals at renewal time, there was no data rollover in my case, and they didn't even care I was trying to renew 5 services. They lost me to Woolworths, they're offers are at least clean and straightforward, and the value is not even comparable if you use the 10% discount at the supermarket.

    • Any downside from going to Woolies?
They gave 100gb for 150 with a few other perks. Still in the Telstra network.
Smooth transition from boost to WW?

      • +2

Biggest difference is that boost is the FULL telstra network, woolies is the telstra wholesale network, which is basically the telstra network cut down to cover a similar area as the optus network (and a 100mbps speed cap, but that's generally plenty for mobile).

      • Last week transferred from WW to Boost. Very quick. It took under 1 hr.

      • +1

I can't tell the difference, but I live in the city, so it may be very different to those in the suburbs or the bush. I can't tell. Value wise, Woolworths can essentially be free if you link reach service to a separate Woolworths rewards and use the 10% discount on your biggest shop. $130 shop and you get the $13 that the service cost you back. Amazing.

      • +3

I recently went from Woollies to Boost for one reason, ability to make phone calls over Wifi. I live in rural Vic, so my coverage is really patchy around the house. This is a Telstra only feature, not available via wholesale network.

Another nice Telstra only feature is the High definition audio to other Telstra/Boost mobiles. Certainly makes a difference to call clarity.

If you hardly make any calls I would stick with Woollies.

    • Thought Woolies was with Optus?

      • Woolies uses part of the Telstra network

    • +4

When my boost expires, I just get a random 7 day plan from other providers and switch back any time to get the Boost offer for New Customers Only. Been doing this for ages lol.

    • Did Boost not offer a $50 discount as it did the previous year, when we were told about 'grandfathering' the $150/year deal? Now coming up to renewal time, haven't received any sms or message about a discount… is it time to just buy this discounted boost200 and do the SIM swap out/in process?

      • Don't think so… Pretty shifty process I thought… I might try we or Coles next year

  • Thanks for this, good timing with Mrs Texan's current 12 month sim deal with Catch just running out.

  • Oh thank god, I’ve been stuck with catch for too long now. Can’t wait to go back to boost.

So as long as it’s activate pre August 2023 the 12 month period will start from the activation date, correct?

    • Yes, but no bonus data

  • +3

It's on eBay for $152.50 with free express delivery with eBay plus or free standard delivery without plus for $152.50.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313218393853?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

    • It’s showing $152.90 with coupon MCPAY10V3

Also isn’t it cheaper getting it direct from Oztechbiz?
You’re paying $147 for the SIM + $4.99 for Aus Post standard delivery with tracking = $151.99

      • +1

It would be cheaper on eBay after factoring in payment with discounted eBay GC.

        • Rookie me, totally forgot about that 3% cashback on eBay giftcards 😂

          • @BargainsGrabber: The discount for my current eBay GC ranges from 5 to 10%.😉

            • @F1ngolf: could you tell me how to get discounted ebay gift card?

    • +1

Just bought it using eBay plus for express shipping so cheers for the link.

FYI it’s $10 off with ‘SNSAUGUST‘ as coupon code, resulting in it costing $152.90. It’s basically 90c extra (when compared to OP’s link for standard shipping + tracking) for express shipping which was worth it to me.

    • Oos

  • +1

Gone are the days when Catchconnect would have 120GB for $30?? hahah

    • That’s price error, not regular deal.

  • +5

Great price without any Officeworks price-matching involved.

If anyone wants to save an extra $2.60 ($144.40 delivered) you can price-match with Officeworks this sim offering from LuckyMobile.com.au

    • Thank you very much @yojabbajabba!

  • Dammit i literally bought one for $170 two days ago!

  • +1

Can I port from telstra directly to boost?

  • good deal but OOS

  • +6

You can get this on eBay as well, $154 ($10 discount applied) for $200 sim with free delivery.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/233852604232?hash=item3672b38f48…

    • +1

Thanks- just missed the original deal but jumped on this one.

  • Does JB Hi-Fi sell Boost SIMs? Boosts website says they are a retailer, but I don't recall ever seeing them in there, and they certainly aren't listed on their website.

Local Officeworks and Good Guys both have 0 stock of the $200 SIMs, and I'm trying to find somewhere local that Price Matches.

    • I have tried with 2 different Officeworks stores before even when they had stock they still refused to price match. Their reason was that the exact package code is not listed on the website therefore they wont price match.

      • I got it price matched online at Officeworks yesterday.

      • I just looked at the one on Officeworks website and it says only 30gb data and then 65gb on next recharge, is it the same as this one?

        https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/boost-mobi…

        • It must be a pretty old description. Have a look at the Q&A section and it has different info.
How much data you get would be determined by when you activate the SIM. As long as you get a $200 SIM,, you will get the latest offer on the $200 SIM.
