    Price in title please.

And it's not free shipping to all areas either.

    Good find mate

Don't forget to add coupon code "GAMEDAY50" to save an extra $50

Seems a bit expensive for a 1650. An RTX 3050 would be what I’d expect in a budget end laptop

    • +2

This'll be probably clearance stock from whatever distributor to make way for the RTX 3050 replacement models (that are sitting at ~1200avg) currently.

This laptop is known for having some issues with cooling
https://www.reddit.com/r/Asustuf/comments/hl8io2/heating_iss…. Just an FYI as with Turbo boost enabled your CPU may hit temps of 90 degrees C.

    • Sounds like every gaming laptop I've owned. First thing to go is the GPU.

    • +1

My 5800H hits 98C and doesn't even throttle.

    • The 2020 versions had cooling issues, they fixed it fairly decently (2021 model owner here. Ryzen 5800, 3070 gpu have since added a second ssd and gone from 16 to 32gb ram). I've seen temps between 50 and 79.

Entering the sku it appears to be a 2021 machine, but the lower specs confuse me lol.

As a gaming laptop I wouldn't buy it (1650 provides little grunt). But as a general laptop I'd look into it (especially if it has a 90w battery) 12+ hours on battery for internet browsing is dance of joy worthy!

Upon further research this centrecom deal does appear to be the 2020 model. Ughhhhh lol.

        • I got the Shopping express deal here .. the serial number label on the back of the laptop states it was manufactured in Feb 2022 ( same as on cardboard box )

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/702226

No heat issues so far but both the CPU and GPU are low powered the same as this one so i dont see why there would be heat issues.. :)

      • 1650 4GB DDR6 is WAY faster then any integrated GPU around.. Good enough for gaming at 1080p on most games… I get 60FPS in Elden Ring :)

    • I have a lenovo of some sort with a 950m a few years ago which got to 95 degrees in anything 3d. It lasted years and still works. Wouldn't like my chances of having kids after having that sitting in my lap for hours on end, but i can't fault the reliability.

      • It might last but it sounds like a damn jet engine when it's doing basic things.

That's what you get for sharing the GPU and CPU heatpipe. Terrible design.

    Cue overheating.

    1650 :(

  • +4

    A 1650 but it's $829.
Ok if you're looking for a cheap laptop and want to do light gaming

  • Any deals for a gaming laptop at around $1000?

  • -2

Gaming on 8gb of ram, is that a joke? I was thinking this might be good to get as a cheap laptop.

    • +6

This model should have a 2nd free slot for another 8GB of memory.

Also, this laptop is 829 dollars…

      • -1

Yes but to be shipped with just 8GB isn't a good sign.

        • +3

Relax bro it’s fine for some people.

  • Just get an ultra book with AMD 6800H CPU, you are getting similar GPU performance, at 1/3 power draw, 1/3 weight, 1/3 dimention, and its brand new instead of clearance stock that is already outdated.

    • Any particular model? Would love to have a slim laptop that could handle the newer stuff.

        • +1

Not exactly the same price point though

        • so pay double the price for the same performance- grazie

I got Lenovo Thinkbook 14+ from Lenovo China for ~$1000aud+$100 delivery.

They have Thinkbook 16+ for slightly cheaper.

Xiaoxin Pro 14 and 16 is another option for slightly cheaper.

        • I do like the Lenovo. They say being loyal to a brand is pointless, but Lenovo do make really good stuff. Especially their business devices. I bought a second hand X1 Carbon that's now almost 10 years old. Still going strong.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll look into that. I'll YouTube some reviews.

    • +1

Not quite. I'm pretty sure 1650 is notably better for gaming than 6800H iGPU. I don't play new games so I'd prefer the 6800H.

    • +1

There won't be many ultrabook for this price with a 6800H, and the 1650 is still like, 30% faster. 6800 is still within the 720p territory for alot of newer games.

However, that being said, the 6800 is going to appear in quite a few hand helds soon, which might be even more suited than this laptop for most people, assuming they're willing to pay the price.

  • I've got the 2060 version. Mother flipper hangs due to over heating in most games.

  • Does not seem like a bargain to me

  • This or this

    It is expired.

      I have this laptop https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/702226
Runs well and plays games well.. for the price is great

The laptop you linked is $270 more :) I paid $44 for an 8GB ram upgrade to 16GB's.. pretty easy to open up and add the ram

    • The 3060 Nitro will run circles around this 1650 laptop
Different price brackets but the Nitro is worth the extra if you want to play new release games at high settings.

  • Today my 3 years old ASUS TUF (FX505D) gaming laptop went out (+ a faint popping sound) in the middle of video conferencing. It cannot be switched on again. Prior to this I had a 22" ASUS monitor which also died prematurely. 2/2 and I used to think ASUS produces durable products. I would think twice about buying anything from ASUS now.
