I can't speak for health but Kraft/bega is better. This just has no flavor and the oil separates out of it.

    • +12

I usually give it a good shake and mix with a spoon and it tastes great to me. I like it because it's 100% peanut butter unlike the other big brands which has added sugar and preservatives

      • +3

And a premium glass jar no nasty plastic

        • And easy to peel off label.

    • +7

kraft lol. Mayver's is good, more natural ingredients (should only be peanuts and some sea salt).

ps. price matching woolies, just get it from there.

      • Some sea salt…. Mine tasted like it had half the pacific ocean in it, disgusting and had to bin it.

        • Nice

        • Roasted Peanuts (99.3%) & Sea Salt

Maybe make your own then hey

I haven’t had Mayver’s nuts in my mouth, but I trust your judgement. There’s always the option of swallowing quickly if you just want the health benefits

      • Got a doberman?
Do you smear it all over your body?

        • Yikes! That escalated quickly

    • +2

You are just used to the taste of added sugar and cheap oils added to the Kraft product.

      • +1

Sure I might be. But that doesn't make Mavers objectively better. It's 1.9 vs 0.8g sugar per serve. Both are pretty tiny amounts and nothing to worry about unless you are on a low sugar diet, or eating spoonfuls of the stuff.

        • -1

Depends what you mean by better.

If you don’t think a completely pure peanut butter product which is heart healthy is not better than one with the cheapest nuts available with a large amount of added sugar and oils of unknown origin or quality then go ahead mate.

If you tried the natural product for a week or two your tastebuds would tune themselves to the more sophisticated taste of just peanuts.

Natural peanut butter is superior by every measure.

            @Grok:

large amount of added sugar and oils

Are you this much of a difficult hipster with every food item? It's not "large" amounts at all, and no more unknown than any other food lol. I would not want to go to a restaurant with you, I can only imagine how painful it would be!

            • @Presence: I looked at the basic Kraft peanut butter.

85% nuts and 15% sugar and oils of unknown origin, probably palm because it is the cheapest.

You would rather eat that crap just because you have been eating that crap your whole life and don’t know better?

Do you also eat white bread, canned fruit in syrup and spam?

            • @Presence: Although this article reviews American brands you’ll get the gist. It shows just how bad the crap peanut butters are for you.

    • The oil always separates out of natural peanut butters.

    • +1

Yeah, not a popular opinion but I prefer Bega over this one.

My favourite is Aldi's American style one. Kinda like Bega but better I think.

      • +1

It's obviously a touchy subject here. Mavers is both oily and dry at the same time!!

    • Bega simply nuts is my favourite, but this stuff isn't bad. I'll buy it at this price for sure.

    I'll get it from Woolies

        Woolworths insurance

  • Dang the $2.46 peanut butter order now, would have rather wanted it with a longer expiry date instead

    • Why not both? The $2.46 one would've lasted 'til Feb next year…

    A review from Amazon:

I wouldn't recommend this product. It's like going back in time to when peanut butter used to separate and then you have to mix it together. Who's got time for that? If you do, go ahead and make your own peanut butter.. it's not hard. This product is just annoying.

The reviewer does bring up a good point. Why not make your own?

    • +1

Cos it’d take more time to make your own than stir it once when you open it

  • The Dark Roasted smooth and crunchy are now also $2.90
