  • Decent.

    Ram upgradable?

Edit: looks like it is, and has been already upgraded from 8 to 16. Max 2x32gb.

    Good not great for $900.

    16gb ram is nice.

Rare to come by decent specced gaming laptop at this pricepoint, but honestly I bought same specs for same price in 2020. If it was an RTX 3050 GPU and Ryzen 5000 series CPU, I'd probably commit.

Exactly my thought… the 3060 deal for an extra $250 (including another stick of ram) is so much better but a 3050 at this price would be great

  • Same laptop as posted in the recent Centrecom deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/722824
Still unclear as to what model it actually is (2020/2021 ?). I read dual information about it, on centrecom's site the promo images show it's from 2021. But the system information/specs read as though it's a 2020 model :-/. The 2020's have poor ventilation (can be partially solved by creating more airflow between the laptop and the surface you rest it on), the 2021 model has improved ventilation/air flow.

It's still a decent laptop for the price. As a current Asus TUF laptop owner (Asus TUF A15 2021 owner, granted mine has more grunt with a 3070) I'd be tempted to grab a cheaper version so I could run different laptops for different purposes (one purely for the gaming, one for general tasks/web browsing).

    • That was 8gb

Great well-rounded device except for a shocking 62.5% sRGB.

  • What are shipping times like

    • shopping express is super quick for me but I'm in NSW 1-3 days max

    • Fair enough if you think the deal is bad value, but even if that is the case, how are SE 'targeting vulnerable audiences'? It's not their fault if somebody purchases their product without doing their research or shopping around for a better deal.

These Laptops are designed to be out dated in 6 months time of its release, making them cost per year per laptop. And environmentally.

Compared to a 3060 which can last 2 years and still be usable in 3rd and 4th year, the cost goes down to $300-$500 per year.

Or a 3070 can last 3 years minimum upto 5.
Reducing the cost down to $400-$600.

        All are better than $900-$1000.

And people who buy these laptops are elderlys buying for their grandchildrens or new teens just into gaming laptops. They look at the price and be amazed, not knowing it a crap that won't even run the next game they buy.

    • NOT the same laptop - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/702226

ASUS just has heaps of these in various configurations for sale that's all

  • Bit on the heavy side too tbh, but fair specs for the price.

    • its lighter then the Acer gaming laptop by 400g

      • Yeah true but that was a brick. I think anything over 2kg for a laptop is heavy imho.

  • Old posts that are expired don't really lend to the deal posted. I understand there may have been better deals months ago— but how does that relate now?

Post Covid, everything is dear. I think this is a great deal for the specs. If you disagree, don't buy, & please post a *current" deal that's better.

Deals for entry level laptops are pretty terrible right now, so this is serviceable amongst a heap of trash deals. Nothing wrong with posting this.

But, if you buy this now, you’re likely paying a huge premium for not waiting a few months for a better deal. The GTX1650 is pretty old now and won’t be a great gaming experience if you want to keep using this laptop for longer than a couple of years. Even the RTX 3050 can offer pretty decent performance improvements as well as DLSS to hopefully increase the longevity of the device. This isn’t even mentioning the incredible RTX 3060 deals previously, which will offer like double the performance for not too much more expensive.

The deals mentioned throughout this post were only a month or two ago. There are very likely going to be similar sales again before the end of the year. If you can’t wait, it’s serviceable. But you can get so much more for the price by waiting a bit.
