    Sim slutting?

    • +7

You'll be in for a wild 90 days with this sim ;)

I sim slut, I'm looking for a new sim ho because my current sim ho (kogan) has run out of juice.
Thanks OP for pimping a new sim ho. Lol

I genially dont know what 'sim slutting' refers to.

          • +18

@Skullytor: I genuinely don't know what genially means

          • +4

@Skullytor: In Ozbargain context (compared to what tharlow mean) it just means, hopping from one provider to another.

SIM slutting is defined as a new phone service acquired for the purposes of registering a Tinder (for example) profile used to connect with multiple sexual partners before the service requires recharging. A “SIM slut” is therefore the owner of this (often temporary) phone number, and you can bet that they sure know how to have a good time

What happens if you exceed data limit? Does your speed slow down or are you charged extra?

    • +3

      Neither

After you’ve used your included data, you will no longer be able to use your data service until you recharge again,

      • In this case, the Telstra Broadband 5GB sim has served me well, I get chat to give me $5 discount periodically, bringing it down to $10 per month for a data sim that is unlimited at 2mbps after 5GB.

I find 720p YouTube doable and manage to get 30GB per month at $10. Sometimes $5 pm.

Most new phones have dual SIM, you can use a cheap unlimited call/SMS plan in the other sim and configure which SIM is for calls & which for data independently. These sims are generally between $5 & $10.

  • Can I port out earlier than the 90 days? I'd be going Boost -> Catch -> Boost.

    • +1

Yes but 3 months for $21 is not a bargain for only 7.3gb a month

      • +1

Obviously members aren't upvoting this for the data. If you're a professional sim slut you can simply top up your data by taking advantage of free sim offers posted on here & putting it in the 2nd sim slot on your dual sim phone.

I'm currently on Boost so I'd just be going to Catch for $21 for the 30/31 days required to be classified as a new customer again for Boost before going back.

        • +2

There are cheaper options if you only need 30 days like Kogan 20GB $2.90.

        • So Boost is definitely 30 days to be classified as a new customer? I was on Boost for 28 days and now moved to Kogan for 30 days. I'd like to go back to Boost but wasn't sure of the new customer rule.

@D1977: I'm unsure too, but I thought I read 30 days on another OzB post. Hoping someone can clarify…

  • +1

This seems to be the cheapest monthly plan at $7 (or even $10 per month thereafter) for an ongoing use, irrespective of data.

    • ongoing recharges $29 / 90 days

      • I understand it. That's why I mentioned '$10/ month thereafter' in brackets.

        • +1

Apologies, I read it as $29 per 30 days. Most of these deals revert to a much higher price so I agree doesn't seem bad at all.

    • +1

Yes, not bad for 3 months. Just perfect for my relatives coming over for 8 weeks.

  • How long does delivery usually take? 7 days before expiry is not a lot.

  • Port? Can you port your existing number. Hope so because i already ordered.

    • Yes that's what sim slutting is all about. Who are you with now because it's recommended to port from a different network, less hassles.

      • Amaysim to Catch Connect. Will it be smooth?

        • Not sure, just going off past comments where some members said they had issues porting to the same network.

Amaysim & Catch both use Optus.
