  • Metabo a decent brand?

Familiar with the brand name but never used any of there gear.

Good brand, it's Hitachi/Hikoki. Project Farm on YouTube always has the Metabo gear in his lineups and they go well.

Confusing as hell, but this is german Metabo, which is a completely different brand. Their grinders and drills are top quality. Hitachi sell their own tools worldwide under the Hikoki brand, except in the US where they are branded Metabo HPT (Hiatchi power tools)

    • Still have a drill from 2012 that's been abused still kicks ass

      • same i have one from the 90s

    • Probably not meant to use the V word…but pretty sure 'Metabo' is the name of the Virus from the Movie Outbreak.

That being said..5Ah battery..shut up and take my money.

Went to hoppers $229 no cigar 😔

    • Was that the price tag on it or what it scanned at?

      • Scanned

    • Good, I don’t need another different battery system…

      • You do not need to go to Hoppers then.

      • Metabo batteries are part of the Cordless alliance system CAS and work with many other brands including hikoki and mafell.

I don't think this will work with the Hikoki/Hitachi batteries. Metabo (with the darker green plastic) is not the same as Metabo HPT.
Metabo HPT is just rebranded Hikoki which is sold in the US and are compatible with Hitachi/Hikoki batteries, but this is just Metabo not Metabo HPT.

          • @efist: You're right, Hikoki isn't listed as a CAS partner but I'm confused are these Metabo batteries part of the CAS?

Metabo is not the same as Metabo HPT
Metabo HPT is the same as Hikoki / Hitachi

@OmNomNomagon: It clearly says CAS on the box though….

            • +1

@Duff5000: Correct in that German Metabo is part of CAS. But but Hikoki / Hitachi are not part of CAS. They a different brand with a different battery ecosystem. In the US, Hikoki is sold under the metabo HPT name, which is where most of the confusion comes from.

              • @OmNomNomagon: I get what you mean now, I though you were disagreeing with the part of their comment what said these were part of CAS.

It's the quoted other brands you were disagreeing with. Ozbargain needs a better way to quote users, would make the comments so much clearer.

Someone downvoted you but it says CAS on the box and their au site says CAS on the cordless tools.

  • 2.2J is a bit aenemic, but for $130 for Metabo and a 5.5Ah battery can't complain

  • OOS now at Keperra
