Thought I would share this as the more people that sign up the lower the price will go, I personally already use this for restoring images and never had an issue with the software.

Macrium Reflect Free is a good free solution for most people. There's no differential or incremental backups in the free version, but you can use other backup software like Create Synchronicity which solves that issue.

Note that it's been available for months for US$39.99 through allacronis.com, with the "plus pack" included.

Easeus Todo Backup is another free Acronis alternative worth looking at.

    • +1 for Easeus. I have been using it for a year and a half now.

    • Note that it's been available for months for US$39.99 through allacronis.com, with the "plus pack" included.

if you already have one of these older versions Acronis True Image (Deluxe, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0, 11, 2009, 2010, 2011 Migrate Easy 6.0, 7.0 and all Personal versions) you can UPGRADE to Acronis True Image Home 2012 just for USD$19.99

    • I liked their partition manager software but can't find any free (non-demo) version of Todo on the Easeus website?

Hi, I buy most of my software from PC Authority (as in PC&Tech Authority Magazine). They are like the Aussie version of Herman Street (discounted US software site).

PC Authority doesn't have everything, but Acronis True Image Home 2012 is A$30.94 for example.

    • Never even knew about the PC Authority shop. Thanks:).

    • Damn… Been reading them for years and never knew about a shop…

  • Tempting - such great software.

  • Damn. Paid 54 AUD for this just 2 weeks ago. Used it to clone my HDD onto my OCZ SSD for my new netbook (purchased with 20% off Good Guys gift cards!). Software was so easy to use, highly recommended.

  • A good free way to clone drives with Acronis is to download their fully working trial of Migrate Easy.
I have been using Acronis for yonks for cloning and never had a problem with it. It couldn't be much simpler to use, either.

  • I notice the US site has the same deal, last time I checked it was about $25
