Dammit ozb… it all started with a leaf blower. Then the line trimmer. Then the sander and grinder and chainsaw. I only need one battery at a time but… bargains

  • +2

That is great value. I shudder at the prices that other brands charge for their equivalent batteries. Definitely where they like to gouge their customers. I wonder what a converter costs to use these on other brands?

    • tbf these are clearance items

but yeah i think the professional series like aeg makita all the stanley black and decker brands are there to soak the tradies… who can tax deduct this shit

the 4 amp battery was $50 by itself and that was considered a deal

If you search ebay, you find aftermarket batteries for that brand named after an American city I think $39 for 5Ah ones. Different league but why buy blue when red does the job?

Ryobi, AEG (Rigid), Milwaukee all owned by TTI. There certainly are "you get what you pay for" differences between these sub brands but many Ryobi products are very similar quality to their more expensive counterparts. You're right that there is a price premium on the brand name and red plastic but the way many tradesmen (myself included) justify the cost difference is as follows: "would you rather risk losing the job because you skimped $100?"

        • Todd is unbeatable!
For the tools there is Torque Test Channel!
Btw: Ozito is sold in Europe under its mother brand Einhell. Value for money is perfect.

These are not clearance items. This batch of stock came in 8 weeks ago at this price. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/716021

Ego would be $290 x 2 plus $149 for the rapid charger (only 1 battery at a time). So $739 total. 4ah doesn't exist so assumed $50 for the case and $60 per 1ah.

I have probably accumulated 8+ of these batteries of different sizes, and not had a single problem. They have all done a bit of work, especially a pair of 3Ah that I have used extensively over a 2x18V blower, 2x18V chainsaw, and 2x18V mower. I am wondering how to break them!

I am pretty confident that most Ozito tools cannot be compared to their 'trade' counterparts, but the batteries seem to use some half decent cells in my experience.

      • chippy of 20 years. I choose my ozito drill over makita any day of the week. wax on wax off

    • Jump on eBay, when I looked a few months ago it was $30 for my ryobi lawn mower. 2x of these instead of paying the $300 for the Ryobi 36v.

My lawn mower battery was in the known bad batch of batteries but I never filled out the 5 year warranty. So they won't do shit.

No stock within 50k of me.

    • delivery looks like $10

  • If you order the 2Ah kit for just under $20 they supply a substitute with a 3Ah pack. Still 25% less but 20 bucks is 20 bucks!

    • +1

Not sure what you mean. The 2ah kit with charger for $19.95? Did you order click and collect and your store ran out?

    • -1

"they supply a substitute with a 3Ah pack" - are you sure?

      • If you are nice to them and prepay first they do an upgrade!

    • +1

@payless69 Don't think they have the 3Ah battery anymore but plenty stock of the 2.5Ah battery plus fast charger for $62. So if they choose to replace the 2.0Ah for the people that were able to order and pre-pay online for pickup due to stock issues, this is the one they may get substituted for if they are lucky. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-2-5ah-battery-and-…

      • Maybe beloved Queensland gets special treatment for the occasion…
Anyway the charger looks like the standard but it is faster and has a crappy thin power cord, household grade not for tradies!

        • Do you mean a 3AH that is the same size as a 4AH?

          The old 1.5AH was slim
The old 2.0AH was a little fatter (barely) but was replaced by the 2.5AH
The old 3.0AH (fat) was replaced by the 4AH
The 4.0AH (fat) is still available, but the 5AH (twice the price) is the same size

Which 3.0AH did they give you? Is it a new model? How tall is it?

          • @resisting the urge: The 3Ah is the same size as the 4Ah physically.
            No longer sold new.
The second time I got a 2.6Ah that is also no longer sold, had longer cells, odd shape. Lent it to a friend to pre test.

  • I need a deal for the Ryobi one plus batteries

    • +1

Join the Ryobi Facebook page they are giving away 1000 dual battery packs just for leaving comments, plenty of people are winning! I've got 3 entries in for this month myself :)

        Sounds like a scam?

  • +3

What are the Oz to Ryobi adapters like. might be an idea

  • Are any batteries interchangeable between brands or are they all just so slightly different?

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed some. Cheers

  • Really good deal, I got it last time. Currently have 3 batteries for 4 tools (edger, whipper snipper, blower, mower) - tempted to make it 5 and then grab another tool to go with.

  • Wish you could just get the batteries….

  • So I got the regular charger and 3.0 Ah battery

How much faster can this charger fully charge the battery?is it handy?

  • Tried to get a click and collect order, but just got a txt no stock and refund. Bummer

  • Thanks OP. Got one. That makes 4x 4.0Ah batteries now in the shed

  • Thanks to the previous deal, I’m finally able to use the blower I bought in 2020
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/564606

    • Similar here. I bought the blower and waited a long time for a battery deal. Don't like the blower. It's pretty ordinary. Got the 36V chainsaw so not a complete loss. Chainsaw is great.

      • What don’t you like about it?

        • It seems to blow a fairly large volume of air, but at a low speed. I'll have a go at making an adapter for the end of tube to reduce diameter and then it may work better.

  • No stock in SA of the 4 or 2. :-( Someone mentioned ordering online, but you can't if the stores don't have stock?

  • OOS for delivery in vic.

  • When is ozito going to release a 6Ah, 2x4Ah is just not enough to mow my yard.

  • -1

This charger takes 1hr to charge these batteries? They need to make a fanned version for much quicker charging

  • I only have one battery for the ozito drill however also have a skin pruner. Would these battery be overkill?

    • There're more useful power tools you could acquire. Skin only tools can be very cheap, especially when they're on sale

  • +1

Bought this to prepare for my inevitable move to electric mowing and line trimming. Just waiting on deals for the steel deck brushless Ozito mower from Bunnings to get me started. Hopefully this year it’s the lighter push mower variety and not the self propelled monster that became available last season which weighed 30kg plus.

  • +1

Thanks, I was waiting for this offer.

  • closest stock 47.2km from me :(

just bought the 2ah for $20

    • Couldn't get within a bull's roar for the 2.0ah, so bought this 4,0 ah kit. Good price and possib[y better value.

      • Buy both the 2.0ah and 4.0 ah kit together and postage is still only $10 for both ($129 total). I got mine delivered today within 36 hrs or ordering, bloody impressed with Bunnings delivery. Basically find a store that has stock, doesn't matter if it's 300km away, it let's the website allow you to add it to cart via delivery, choose a store that has both the 2.0ah and 4.0ah in stock and checkout with delivery option. Even though I chose a store 300km away from my house, it was sent from Blacktown via Courier.

        • that's a great idea, i should have done that. oh well, i think i am ok with the 2ah. i bought that 6 piece kit and it came with a 4ah and a 2ah. so now i have 2 x chargers, 2 x 2ah, and 1 x 4ah. I am pretty much set now i think. i realised i actually like the smaller batteries, lighter weight and compact size. i will mostly be using the impact and drill driver which will have the 2ah batteries. i don't do anything serious, just putting up shelves, putting together ikea and bunnings furniture, etc…

        • +1

Woah, gamechanging tip on how to get delivery to work!! Thanks for this. Bunnings never has stock for so many items IRL.

@watwatwat: Ok, they cancelled my order for the $20 one even though I had already paid.

            Not a good start.

I will try to order the $99 one.

            • +2

@watwatwat: Ok bunnings cancelled both of my orders, for 2 separate products. Facepalm.

              • +1

@watwatwat: Same order got cancelled. Uses the Mittagong store, NSW which is about an hour away from our place and they cancelled the order
