  • Sydney possibilities?

      According to google:
      Sydney’s odds are $2.60 to Geelong’s $1.50

      • Geelong on fire not going to lose. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

VICta deals are only in VIC :(

Issue is the cost of battery and charger

Depends how handy you are and what you have laying around.

I had a quick look and the tools had 5 or 6 pin connector. Not just empty pins either, 5 or 6 contacts. Guessing they have the battery management on the tool not the battery, figured it wasnt worth my time messing with it vs just buying the right skin for a system i already have.

        • Ye, i only have Ryobi batteries. I asked Bunnings and the total was just too much, exceeded the packages with battery like ozito pxc

@OZTechGuy: Just got mine going with an Aldi Xfinity battery. Bit of surgery on the case, battery connector and circuit board. Works well.

            • @racer1234: Did you need to mod the circuit
              ?

              • +1

@King Tightarse: Basically disabled circuit board by joining bat negative to motor neg. Removed all sensors from battery connector as well
                Use at own risk.

                • @racer1234: Cheers

                • @racer1234: So the circuit board doesn't do anything now and blower the only runs at full speed via the micro switch? I tried an Ozito battery but it is too different. The ALDI one lines up well just need to remove one pin from the blower.

                  • @JIMB0: Mine was a hedge trimmer so just uses two micro switches. As you said battery lines up and removing the pin allowed connection. I believe the aldi battery has internal protection against over discharge but my use for the hedge trimmer is 10 minutes max so not a problem for me. Need to make a way to support battery a bit better now I have cut the sides away to allow it to slide in.

  • It's all about whether the battery can be adapted or if people already are in the Victa 18v system because they aren't making them any more
Don't want to get stuck with a fancy but useless thing like in this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/686134?page=1#comment

  • How much does the battery cost? $80?

    • I think general concensus is if you have the lawnmower or anything else takes the same battery no brainer..unless you tech orientated an can make it run on a different 18 volt battery.

        • Did you find o.k? , Can't remember the aisle but it was on the right hand side of the aisles at the front end of the store about 10 feet from the start of the aisles….Hope it helps

          • @fprjet: Nah couldn’t find I got the blower for $10
Went to another Bunnings had heaps of the hedge trimmer but they wanted $60

            • @aussman: You want me to grab you one?

              • @fprjet: Do you know any stores that still have

                • @aussman: Sorry bud, I called Mentone this morning Anthony there told me all gone…….

Thats cheaper than a happy ending

They still had about 10 of the blowers at Mentone. None of the line trimmers left other than the display model which is missing the trimmer head.

Worth checking at your local store. Just brought one for $10 at Acacia Ridge. 4 left in stock. No clearance or any price on them but scans at $25 and after a bit of a chat got it for $10.
