    Hi,

How do you define Battery health as good or excellent? What percentage capacity vs factory should they have remaining?

    • +5

This laptop is 4-5 years old so regardless of how it's advertised you should reasonably expect to have to replace the battery in the next couple of years and just factor that cost into your assessment of the purchase.

      • Most batteries last 5 years max, don't see it lasting long tbh.

    • +2

I'd suggest buying a replacement battery from AliExpress and swap it out. Look for "[name and model of laptop] service manual".

Battery are almost always right there when you open the bottom panel, so a few screws and a ribbon cable and you're done. It's dead simple and makes a night and day difference to the whole 2md hand experience.

I wouldn't rush to replace the batteries. I've got several slightly older Dell laptops with original batteries that are still fine - ranging from 6 to 10 hours idle on the desktop with the screen on.

I have had to do several cycles on each of them to calibrate the battery - they initially were dropping suddenly from 30-50% down to 7%. In one case the laptop ran for over 2 hours on 0% battery before finally turning off!

  • any 7060 micro deal soon? missed $280 deal 2 week ago/

    Hi

Can I buy a laptop without RAM/SSD to shave some money off or it's only configurable as far as what's on offering on the site? Ta

  • -1

These don't support Windows 11 so if you buy be mindful you will have a maximum of 3 years of security updates.

I see this msg everywhere, and don't think it's a worrisome warning. You can easily install W11 without TPM, have it on an old laptop and it's receiving updates just fine. Can Microsoft find a way to disable updates in the future for non TPM W11 installs to make it difficult for the average Joe? Yes. Would they? Probably not at the risk of their exact same average Joe customers.

      • I'm almost certain this laptop is TMP 2 microsoft not supporting older gen chips is bullshit & I really can't see them stopping updates for them

      • The CPU that isn't supported either. There is a chance that an update will be released that breaks unsupported installations.

        • +1

The possibility is there I agree with you. But the likelihood is pretty low, considering that you can still upgrade from windows 8 to 10 to 11 for completely free, Microsoft just want everyone to be on windows and stay there under all circumstances.

    • You can still install win11 upgrade

Your last deal has now expired, a week ago you said you had some mini PCs that you would post "soon". You're going to end up losing sales if you don't respond to people's questions.

These are all dual core only… pretty much worse than the current i3

You want a minimum of the 8th Gen i5… which will usually give you the Quad Core - 8th threads..

    Release Year - Nil

    lmao

    • the '8' in 7280 means it's 2017

  • -1

    no 8th gen no deal!

There is no point getting 7th gen when the performance is the same as 6th,5th and 4th Gen. 8th gen has 4 cores which was the game changer

    • Maybe there is no point spending an extra $100 for 8th gen when know exactly what you want and this one works.

Yes, for a student using this everyday, I'd recommend 8th gen, but not everyone has the same use case.
BTW, I'd much rather this and upgrade to 16GB, than a 8th gen 7390 stuck on 8GB soldered.

  • Just need a cheap win11 laptop to install some Android app, is this one I should buy?

    • This laptop is not officially support by Windows 11 as it has 7th Gen Intel processor.

    • The windows 11 android emulation has poor performance, I still use Nox

      • Have to agree. I haven't used box but I was pretty disappointed at the performance of android for windows. It's a cool idea but didn't really suit my laptop

Would order if it was matte anti-glare non-touch screen instead of glossy touch screen.

Do not buy from this seller, received dell 7490 last week with fake screen and lose hinges.

Have emailed them and no response yet.

    • Warranty?

    • +3

Fake screen? Like the dummy laptops in the 80s showrooms?

    • Hi Mohd Mufid,

Due to the public holiday in Melbourne Thursday/Friday and then the weekend I believe this query was attended to asap yesterday (Monday) on email. As previously advised, all units are checked extensively, serials logged and can be verified as genuine on the dell website (with the serial). We have processed hundreds of units in the last few weeks without hiccup so this would be a very rare occurrence if it is in poor condition. As we offer a 30 day warrantee on units shipped, we will process your return as soon as received. Thank you for your patience whilst we investigate. UN Tech

Do not buy from this seller. The condition is not as good as you think. Scraches everywhere on the screen and a big outside. I upgraded with more disk and memory and it took them 2 weeks to send me. My child laptop is in a better condition.

      Hi Marc,
Please contact us asap through our website or [email protected] quoting your order number as we have searched our order history and cannot locate any order address for Marc Nunes or have we received a direct request regarding an issue like this. We have a comprehensive check of all units leaving the warehouse and do not ship units with scratches, so this would be a very rare occurence. For this reason we also issue 30 day money back satisfactory period on all sales also. Please contact us through standard means to have this rectified. Thank you.

      • It is for my partner. Partner will send the email tomorrow and I will update here. Thanks

      • My partner decided to give away the computer. So we wont be returning it. Thanks untech for letting me know we had 30 days money back guarantee. Cheers

        • Hi Marc, That is a shame, would you please be able to forward the order number to [email protected] anyway, or atleast the name it was ordered under (you should have the sales confirmation on your email etc) so it should be easy. That way we can at least follow up our internal process log and see if there is any issues. We treat complaints like this very seriously (also note we responded to your complaint within 30 minutes), as our mandate is to be the most trusted used I.T hardware supplier in Australia. As you can imagine if a poor quality laptop happened to slip through the cracks somehow, that's not good for you, or us so we need to follow up to ensure if it did happen, it doesn't again. Thank you very much.
