Can someone on NBN HFC connection share their experiences on dropout and any other issues they faced after signingup with this provider? Currently with Telstra and understand I can use the current Telstra modem Gen 2 which is good. Telstra is very expensive and doesn't value loyal customers that's why thought of giving this a go. Tq.

    • nbn HFC dropouts related to HFC technology will be exactly the same.
More however does use PPPoE to set up a session/connection on top of that, and I've been having regular issues with the PPPoE session being disconnected (= no internet) while physical connection was ok (FTTN). I had several outages of more than 12 hours at a time.
There are other people (probably connected to different server) that don't have issues.
PPP session is not related to the technology you use.

After TIO complain I've been promised $100 compensation for the outages.

Overall MORE (& sister company Tangerine) have been very stable over the last 8 months. One does get the occasional drop out for a few mins here and there but more rare than often.
I have several Next Gen2 modems beside me and they work fine
      .
Other: In fact I discovered last night when testing one that you don't even need to put your NBN Username & Password for connection. The one I was using still show Telstra (Out of the Box) details but it connected fine to MORE without adjusting credentials. Handy devices as the incl Telstra 4G SIM also still works

    • The dropouts we had were pretty much all NBN related, so it would have been the same anywhere.

However, their communication is sparse and the online portal thing is next to useless. So you can open a ticket with them, and they usually reply after the problem is resolved saying that it all looks fine..

The only provider i've been with who actually does this well though is ABB, so it's not like they're particularly worse than any other low cost provider.

My real gripe was with the move to Tangerine, where nothing happened for over a week and then it magically ported over instantly as soon as I complained. Then More billed me for an extra month because I didn't disconnect in time and I had to argue with them a bit to get them to drop it.

    FYI
Was with more 30% off deal. Churned to tangerine after my 12 month discount expired. Now ready to churn back to more for another 12 months at 30% off.

Unfortunately they have updated their t&c point 6.

Discounted offer is only available a single time per premises / per customer. This clause was not there previously.

I Should have churned back after just 1 month at tangerine before more updated their t&c

Oh well. Off to exetel for 6 months I guess

    • Thanks for letting us know.
Sorry to hear you couldn't go back.

    • If you have a second CBA account, you can get another 12 months on it even if in the same name. They aren't like Tangerine who only offer a total of a single deal per premises.

  • Connected on NBN HFC on the 100/20 plan. Even though it appears I'm getting 60/20 on Speedtest, websites are loading very slowly. HD YouTube is unwatchable with constant buffering. Just my guess but Vocus is probably heavily congested and at or near capacity. Speedtests to international servers (Singapore, US) show <1 down. Avoid until Vocus gets their stuff sorted.

Sob’ s just jacked their prices up for 50/20 and slower.

    • Just paid the discounted $53.90 price today for a scheduled churn from Tangerine in mid November.

Still the cheapest mid tier plan, ongoing bills will be $88 —> $61.60, hopefully for the full 12 months.

  • Do you need to give More Telecom 30 days notice before churning away? There seems to be conflicting info regarding this on the net.

    • Also like to know as just churned out

      • +1

As a matter of courtesy, one should always let them know as their accounts systems might not know if the NBN has been churned and in turn might generate new invoices.
You can cancel via your account Here. At least there will be a record.

  • Do we need to give 30 days notice if moving from tangerine to More?
