    No DLSS 3.0 support

    • +40

DLSS 2.0 is still good and it didn't get worse

        • +4

AMD fanboy here and nope, DLSS 2.x is still good.

    • +2

Hopefully they backflip on that being a 40-series exclusive feature eventually …

      • +10

Remember this is NVIDIA. They never backported DLSS 1.0/2.0 to pre-RTX cards either. And there is a reason for that: DLSS basically extends a GPUs lifetime. The best you can hope for is that eventually, a more reasonably priced RTX 4060 can run DLSS 3.0.

        • +7

Doesn’t DLSS require the tensor cores?
          Pre-RTX cards don’t have them

          • @FireRunner: That’s what they say. But I am sure you could run some version of DLSS on Pascal-era CUDA cores.

            • +8

@maxbon: If it could work, it’ll probably be horrible. They did enable raytracing on GTX 10-series and we all know how that went

            • +1

@maxbon: You can, at the cost of computation available for the game, since it would share the same cores as used for rendering. Most likely it does not worth it.

        • +1

If they enabled interpolated frame rate on 20/30 cards, people would probably just complain that it works like dog shit… because it doesn't have enough tensor cores to get it running well.

        • +5

the "budget" GPU 4060 will probably launch at like $800aud lol.

      • +3

NVIDIA doesn't give a shit, someone else will get it working like all their other proprietary software nonsense.

      • +3

Ultimately, DLSS3.0 is really just a superset of DLSS2.0 anyway. They have already confirmed that everything new will be supported on older GPUs apart from features that require the newer Ada Lovelace Optical Flow Accelerator which the RTX20/30 does not have. So this is only going to affect the Frame Generation Convolutional Autoencoder, everything else stays the same. This really isnt that big a deal.

        • +2

Exactly, no one seems to understand or care. Personally I'm still reserving my judgment on whether the added interpolated frames (which aren't rendered) are any good.

          • +3

@ChillBro: My first when hearing that is that it doesn’t sound good in competitive shooters since you’re given false frames. It might work in other games though, we’ll have to see

            • @FireRunner: All I can think of is that it will end up doing something similar to the soap opera effect that TVs with "motion clarity" settings did. Either way I don't expect it to be any good

              • +1

@DeToxin: Watch the latest digital foundary video on it. It has about as much in common with tv motion interpolation as a stickman has with Picasso. When you use tv interpolation, at no point do you feel you are getting a traditional 120+fps experience, its always something distracting or not as smooth. With this it's the opposite end of that spectrum.

Right now nividia are greedy and I feel they are trying to take advantage of consumers any way they can. But dlss 3 is impressive tech

                • @Matthew xxl: Agreed! Was pleasantly surprised too. It made sense it beat the post-processing methods for adding frames since DLSS has access to a lot more information. Now I just wonder how many games will implement it.

    • I have a feeling they will support 3090. It was their premium card. It had enough vram and also is the only card removed from their lineup

    • +3

So what? Noone had even heard of DLSS 3 until a week ago. The card still works just fine.

    • Still cheaper then the 4070 12Gb, and is about as fast plus it has double the VRAM and no new PSU needed.

      • and no new PSU needed

The 3090 has a higher TDP of 450W vs 285W for the "4080" 12GB. More likely to need a new supply for the 3090

        • +1

3090 has a 350W TDP, the 3090Ti has a 450W, plus you can undervolt the 3090 run at 280W with no real lose in fps.

          • @zCrimson: Ah, correct. My bad.
Thought with either option, you don't really need a new power supply?

    • -5

lol so many butt-hurt NVIDIA fanboys.

Jensen Huang: "The more GPUs you buy, the more money you save".

    Website from the 90s

    • +2

I agree but I researched and people said they were pretty good and trust worthy

      • +2

they are, bought cpu and ram from them on different occasions, although their shop is kinda from 90s too ;)

    • +30

Yes, but their fax number is listed on it - send them a fax telling them they should update their web site.

      • +13

I just sent a fax. I’ll login into the World Wide Web later after my mum stops using the line.

        • +1

That was quick - you must have one of them new-fangled faxes with Super G3!

          • @McFly: I used the fax from iPhone app and sent it via 5G. Was super quick.

            • +4

@checkingthisout: @McFly! Read my fax. I was monitoring that scan you interfaced. You're terminated!

      • +1

Lol back to the future Mcfly!

    • +1

some of the best deals come from old looking sites like this

      • I just used the 'tell a friend about this website' function - got an error 404

        • +20

          Friends not found?

    • +1

I like the design. It reminds me of pit viper's website

      • Makes me think of poopies

    • ATi graphics cards … now that's a name I've not seen in a very long time. LOL

    • I just had a suss. It's not all bad. Because of the dated design, it's easily the most responsive shopping website I've ever navigated, and by a very, very long margin at that.

  • +18

At this rate I think Ill just get a 5000 ryzen and 3090 instead of paying any attention to the new generation stuff.

    • they ryzen 7000s came out already its pretty cool

      • +3

Actually, it runs quite hot. And it’s expensive, considering the fact that you need a new motherboard, RAM and likely a new PSU and cooler also.

        • +1

You can run in eco during everyday use (gaming) and get 80% of the performance for half the temps and a third of the power.

        • +1

Does it actually run hot or does it just run hot as a ryzen chip? I cant imagine an AMD chip being anywhere close to an Intel chip, especially with the way they bend.

          • @ATangk: They are designed to boost until they hit the 95c thermal limit unless it's set to eco mode.

            • @filmer: Still better than Intel at 100 flat for the 12900KS

          • @ATangk: Yeah still cooler than Intel and a lot less power (although slight bump over last gen ryzen but performance per watt has still increased significantly).

        • +1

but you can sell your microwave and just warm your chicken nuggies in your PC tower.

      • They run super hot, and for gaming the 5800X3D or whatever goes toe to toe with the top range 7000 series. It also does that without ddr5 ram which means you can get everything at a much better price.

    • +14

5800x3d still holds its own against the new cpus

      • +1

yes definitely if your already on an older am4 board that makes the most sense (gaming wise)… otherwise best to wait and see if a price war starts between intel and amd towards end of the year…

      • +1

5800x3d still holds its own against the new cpus

Hell any half-decent CPU from the last few years does too. CPUs don't make big performance jumps each gen anymore.

Game performance improvement with these new chips won't be human-detectable at 1440p or 4k compared to ye olde Ryzen 5 3600.

Even 1080p framerate difference will be fairly modest. Don't get caught up in the upgrade hype, look at the actual performance.

    • I had a 5800X3D with a 3080 but I managed to get a 2nd hand 3090 from buy swap sell with a water block on it for 800 a few weeks back. Won’t be moving from this setup till it can no longer play anything. Really good combo

      • Great rig. If I was buying now, 5800X3D and 3080 would probably be what I'd go for. Or wait for AMD's GPU announcement in a month. I'm still on a 1700X and Founders 1080Ti!

        • 1080ti is the greatest of all time, if i bought one i'd still be using it. Only issue with my 3080 was it was the 10gig model and certain games were running out of vram. The card had the grunt to play in 4k but certain games became a slide show once afterburner showed the entire 10gig vram was maxed. With the 3090 im using like 11-14gig and its still running at over 100fps

      • @Count Shagula was the 3090 = $800 + 3080 … or just $800 straight out ?

        • 3090 was an EVGA ftw ultra with a Bykski waterblock on it for 800. They had it advertised for 1200 and i said i could give them 800 cash in half an hour and they went with it. Have had the 3080 for ages now

          • @Count Shagula: @Count Shagula great pickup. I had someone lose their s@#r at me for offering $800 on their $1k advertised 3080 about a month ago …. Hahaha

Shout out if u wanna sell the 3090 #wink

    • +2

The 5800X3D Is so good that Intel Marketing had to find a way to hide it in their 13th gen presentation.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/xpmc9q/whats_up_with…

  • +14

Don't tell those who bought it at 1.6k and 1.5k just a few days ago lol

    • I'm sure they'll be fine

    • +26

      Lol where’s non-LHR now?
Trying to get everyone to panic buy still?

      • +16

Haha in the penalty box, can't imagine why

      • What's their deal anyways, do they get something from it? Why push so hard?

        • +10

          Possible scenarios:
          - just trolling for attention
          - regrets paying so much during crypto boom and feels less bad if others overpay too
          - delusional and legit thinks it’s good advice
          - overzealous NVIDIA fanboism
          - has shares in NVIDIA

    • +16

Lol mate I paid $3k on release for this. Made me sick paying that much for a gpu. Never again.

    • IchillBro

    • I wouldn't sorry about them. It's probably 1-2 hours work so they aren't stressed.

  • +9

Feeling pretty sad I paid $1100 for a 3070 last May

    • +2

May is a long time ago. You got good value for the gaming you did!

      • +2

Still sad I had to pay the mining tax as a gamer.

    • +3

If you mean in 2021 that is a literal eternity ago! I paid $1900 for a 6900xt August 2021 and it seems to annoy the hodlers more than me haha

      • +1

Yes 2021 May. The only game I have finished in that time, is another Witcher 3 playthrough which I could play the same on my previous card (980TI). I just hope PoS mining is dead for good.

        • +1

haha I've really only played AOE4 which my 1070 certainly would've run too :P

    • I paid $1330 last july 2021. Iv gamed quite alot since then. Caught up on alot pf the AAA games i missed out on. Doesnt matter now whats done is done, enjoy the gaming

    • I felt the same about forking out $1400 for a 3070Ti last year…made up for it by quintupling down and getting one of those $999 6900 XT TUFs from a little while ago…still have the 3070Ti though…

  • +1

That website has had the ozbargain kiss of death đź’€

    • what is that

      • +2

Too many people hitting the servers, assuming php servers are struggling

  • +2

The ugliness of that website is only matched by the ugliness of that card.

    • lmao true tho

  • +2

How do computer/tech companies still have websites that look that atrocious

    • As someone who doesn’t really buy a gaming PC but loves to watch the HDOL from afar. Most of the computer websites look like old Chinese e-commerce sites. Horrendous.

      • IJK comes to mind. Not a bad local brick and mortar store at least

  • +2

A sign of prices to come, only getting lower :)
Will be a good buy still at a lower price. Once new series hit stores, prices will keep dropping. Come after Xmas, they should be nice and cheap and a good buy.

  • Anything for a 3060 deal?
