  • Which network does this use?
    Currently on boost (using Telstra)

    • +1

      Optus.

    • it's optus. Downgrade network to save?

    • Optus, but I don't think it is the full network? Someone correct me if I am wrong.

      • +1

Only telstra limit coverage to mvnos. Optus&vodafone mvnos get access to the full optus network apart from 5G. The only mvno on the telstra network to use the telstra retail network is boost.

        • I get 5G with Belong, does that mean I'm getting full access to the Telstra network?

          • @cornflakes: You are using the wholesale network which is about 1% less than Telstra full. But 5G doesn't matter anyway as Telstra full network for 5G is only near 70% or near

  • +4

Is there an expiry/redemption date on the recharge vouchers?

    • +1

Must be activated within 30 days according to the terms.

      • It got 6 months to recharge on my last experience. Not sure if they have changed now

        • Yeah, I've pushed it out even further than 9 months, however, their terms state 30 days, so they must not really follow this.

  • Coles Mobile 20% off Recharge
Existing customers get 20% off all Coles Mobile recharge. Available at any register.

would this be (60GB) 20% off of $95 ? So 60 GB package would be $76 ? Can I recharge it earlier and add it after my remaining months ?

    • +6

No - 20% off $120 (normal price) to give a net $95 price. Note that recharge needs to be used within 30 days

Importantly, normally existing subscribers can get a 20% renewal (along with up to 50gb rollover) offer a month out from renewal by having auto renewal turned off - just did this with two 12 month services. It seems counter intuitive to turn off auto renewal but that’s the way to get the 20% off offer

      • I used a discounted recharge about 3 months after the purchase date, and it was no issue. I think the 30 days condition may not apply if no bonus data included.

      • turn off auto renewal but that’s the way to get the 20% off offer

Is that for first recharge only, or ongoing? Has anyone done this for second or later recharges?

        • +1

Yes - last year got 25% for my first renewal. Recharged in Oct 2021, turned off auto-renewal a couple of weeks later. Recently got a 20% discount for recharging before my current subscription expires.

          • @lina23: I see from a previous deal, that two users applied the renewal months before their annual plan had expired, and they lost the remainder of their current plan:
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11155954/redir

If you have recently renewed, can you please confirm if your new expiry date is one year after your original expiry date, or did they make the expiry date be one year after the day you applied the renewal?

            Thanks!

            • +1

@Russ: Expiry date is 1 year after you renew. So if you recharge early, the new 365 days starts from then, so you lose your remaining time, but any unused data will roll-over.

Easiest way is to renew 1 day before your current period expires, so you only lose 1 day and unused data rolls over.

              • -1

@lina23: Hmmm, so technically it's better described as a "renew" than a "recharge", because it makes your plan "like new" again on the day you apply it, rather than "keeping it going".

Coles shouldn't describe it as a "recharge", that's misleading.

        • +1

We have 2 phones with Coles, this is our first year and both got the 20% off offer but my dad, whose been there 2 years did not. I even spoke with their chat and they told me there are no offers for him. Luckily he had 5 days left!

    • +9

Turn OFF your recharge in Coles mobile app, they will asend you email giving 20% off offer one month before expiry. This is alternative method. Not need to buy this deal. Always works.

      • Thanks @Bodogbodog @chichar for the info, I have already disabled auto recharge. Still got 108 GB remaining after 10 month on $120 package (got 120 GB for $95 last year) :/

      • 5%off gift card plus flybuys points.

        • Are you able to pay for a phone recharge with a gift card? I was under the impression that paying for recharges and SIMs with gift cards sometime wasn't allowed by the POS terminal?

          • +1

@GreenGuava: I did last year mixed with grocery not sure it has been stopped or not.

  • check connectivity in your area, onboarded 365 day plan and regretted

      • +2

The Coles Mobile Network Coverage, might be more accurate.

      • +1

this doesn't mean jack shit. What map shows and what we actually get is very diffierent. At 2 locations (home n work) i got weak signals. moved to Boost & boom- full signal. Make sure to call and request refund if you are having issues in the first 2 weeks. or loose money.

    • I have optus tower across the road but still the service was so bad that I ended up going with boost. Thanks

    • +1

you can use VoWIFI, mine switches to VoWIFI at home.

  • Looking to see what Woolworths Mobile come out with, as my current 365-day plan expires at the end of the month. Coles' $169 for 200GB is decent and the 1500 flybuys points effectively make it ~$162, but it doesn't really compare to 10% off your grocery shop each month plus access to 4% off Woolworths gift cards.

    • You could port out to this deal then back again to WW Mobile after say 2 x 28 days or whatever the required time is to be considered a new customer.

    • Or stick with Coles and switch your grocery shopping to Aldi. You'll save more than 10% every month.

      • No aldi near me.

  • Currently with Telechoice and looking for new providers, currently Kogan and Coles has great deals, which one is better? Cheers

    • +1

Kogan uses Vodafone network and coles uses Optus. Choose boost/Aldi/belong/Woolworth mobile. They use Telstra network.

  • Do they have volte yet?

  • Does Coles Mobile require you to reply a OTP via SMS when porting? The number I'm looking at porting has no credit atm hence won't be able to reply in SMS

    • No that is a 2FA security step anyway, but you shouldn't need credit to receive an SMS.

      • +1

Porting to Kogan for example would require you to reply the OTP from the number you're trying to port which you cannot do if the number has no credit. Some carriers only require you to receive the OTP and to enter it online during activation/porting process.

My question is if Coles Mobile is like the former or latter.

        • Argh yes, forgot you have to reply with the code inline

        • +1

Ported from Boost to Coles recently.
No you don’t need to reply to the SMS, only needed to receive the code.

        • In my experience replying to those 2fa SMS will not require credit.
Originally I thought the same as you, but when I contacted customer service they advised credit was not required. I then replied to the SMS and it worked.

  • Coles mobile vs Amaysim? My husband's 365 day plan with Amaysim is finishing on 7th…is this similar service to Amaysim? I'd just do Amaysim again but they don't have a discount on the 60GB 365 day plan atm

    • +2

Both Coles Mobile and Amaysim uses the Optus Network, so should be similar.

Only difference would be that Coles Mobile also offers unlimited standard international calls and text to 15 selected destinations (when comparing to Amaysim 60GB $120 Plan).

  • Optus network. What ID do they keep?

    • Everything

    • +3

They don’t keep it. They share it with everyone

  • Anyone used international roaming on this (if available)? I was thinking of porting to Woolworths before I travel so I can get OTP codes via SMS.

    • I did and receive SMS is free while roaming within those free international call country.

      • where do you turn this on?

  • No! Optus

  • Can you buy this using coles gift cards?

  • Is it worth switching from Boost?
I get Volte and 5G. I only use about 85 gigs a year.

Current plan is like $200 year for 100gigs and to recharge its the same price but for 130gigs.

    • I personally stayed on Boost back in July. (Boost has full access to Telstra Network)

PS: The Boost $150 Prepaid Recharge Voucher (which gives 80GB) are still available when purchased in-store.

  • @RichardL
Where do you get Boost $150 Prepaid Recharge Voucher? Coles or Woolworth?

    • +1

From my local convenience store (basically any store with an epay terminal)

      • Thank you, never knew this.

  • My Coles Mobile yearly plan ($120/60gb) is expiring in last week of Nov 2022.
Can I get this deal and keep my mobile number?

    $150 120GB (365 Day Expiry) - $119 (+Bonus 1000 Flybuys Points)

    • $150 120GB (365 Day Expiry) - $119 (+Bonus 1000 Flybuys Points)

Is a SIM Card Starter Kit, so would require you to port out then back in.

Alternatively you could just purchase a recharge voucher (which are currently 20% off).

      • Thank you. So looks like in my case, its simply the recharge voucher I have to buy from Coles store.

Any idea what is the validity of the voucher?
Can I recharge it couple of days before my current plan ends in Nov end?

  • This deal or the Vodafone one for $118 (after shop back) and 150gb with 5G?

  • +2

Got a recharge voucher with groceries, paid with gift card and expiry date is 26-10-23.

    • -2

which supermarket? How much you pay, how much data you get, and is it for 365 days Boost?
      Thank you.

  • does Coles mobile recharge vouchers also get flybuys points?

    • +1

Yes, I just checked and I did receive Flybuys points for my recharge voucher purchase. I did have other groceries in the same transaction, but I'm guessing that probably shouldn't have made a difference.

  • Does Coles sim have international roaming add on's?

  • self checked out a $120 recharge voucher, and the expiry is 11th Nov 2023.

  • +1

Looks like the $120 (60GB) prepaid SIM is still $95 for this week (12 Oct - 18 Oct), according to the catalogue.
