If you just want a .com domain, Cloudflare offers at-cost domains with zero markup for USD 9.15 (A$14) that includes their added protections and features too. Same price, every year, so you don't get stung at renewal. No brainer.

    https://www.cloudflare.com/products/registrar/

    • Just want to remind people this is not for everyone while the Cloudflare solution is great there is restrictions.

You'll be required to use their name servers permanently while the domain is with them which means you have to manually manage your DNS Zone and unless you choose a paid plan you're reliant on community support.

      • I don't believe this is accurate. One of my domains is pointed to IONOS hosting and using IONOS nameservers just fine.

$18 isn't any cheaper than a lot of other registrars around…

    Not a bargain

    CloudFlare for .com
    VentraIP for .au

    This is no deal.

Someone needs to register the website address ad bargain, some of these providers are getting out of control with their monthly ads.

As others are jumping in with a recommendation here is mine, Are use Porkbun for everything except .au and Synergy Wholesale for .au domains.

You can substitute Synergy for Click Host as that's a retail option you can check out a price comparison for .au domains here on the wiki where you'll find information for cost price direct registrations and standard regular pricing.

Click Host, Micron21 and VentraIP are all well established brands.

As of time of writing Porkbun is $15 AUD (9.73 USD) for .com's

    • so if you buy with micron21 the renewal price is $8.67? you can't transfer to them and get that price is that correct?

Yep as far as I'm aware you need to have registered it there from the beginning and it needs to stay with them to get there on going price commitment. Was confirmed on Whirlpool.

That wiki link is helpful, looks like I should look into moving my ventraip .au domains to click host to save money on renewals.

          • @denserham: Thanks spent a bit of time a few months ago getting the article back up-to-date.

I'm personally not a big fan of VentraIP much these days like don't get me wrong they're still good but they're not as good as they used to be and the prices in my opinion don't reflect the level of service that you're getting for the amount of money you're paying for some services.

Click Host is run and owned by staff that previously worked at Net Virtue a company that was acquired by VentraIP and like Net Virtue, Click Host use Synergy Wholesale for domain registration which is essentially the wholesale division of VentraIP.

Just a heads up also cost price registrations at VentraIP for direct .au domain names will be coming to an end soon. March 2023

  • Ads only? I didn't find anyone sells .com over 18$.

    • Yeah apparently OzBargain has turned into adBargain when it comes to web hosting providers right now.
