  • Severe ironic update. Put in request to cancel this morning. Got an email about travel bank 10 minutes ago.

    • "Velocity Campaign Benefit" email
doesn't have the login details though. I guess that's coming later

      • I had the same issue. Unlike some others here who received login details email first I only received the email that says flight credit added to travel bank. I already have a travel bank account with future flights credit but they created a new one for me for this credit.

Gave them a call on 13 67 89 and received the login for the new travel bank account. The password for the account is your velocity login password.

        • I already had a travel bank setup and they added it to that.

          • @bohn: mine is neither in my old account nor do i have login details for this potential "new one' heh

            • +2

@freestyle18: the velocity frequent flyer number is the login for my account.
I have had other travel banks with a much longer number.

  • I still have not received the travel bank credit which seems to me will be done at the end of 4th month from 8th Dec when the points and status credits came. Can anyone if they got it earlier and also if anyone received the credit even after cancelling the card

  • +1

Anyone else still waiting for the magic SMS to claim the SC and points? I sure am…

    • Me to, applied for the card on the first or second day, hit
Minimum spend like a week later(November or so) and still waiting

      • I am still waiting for the points and credit…. I contacted the credit card team over ANZ app messages and this is what I got told -

“thanks for messaging us and I'm so sorry for the delayed response. We're experiencing more chats than expected. I apologise for the long wait times, and I'll make sure to pass on some feedback so that we can improve our services.

The 75,000 bonus Velocity Points will be credited to their Velocity account and the $50 credited to your Credit Card Account within three months of the offer criteria being met. The $50 credit will be applied to the purchases balance and does not constitute a payment under your contract with ANZ. The 30 Status Credits will be credited to their Velocity account and the $95 Virgin Australia Travel Credit will be emailed to the email address listed on your Velocity account within four months of the Offer criteria being met.

Please wait until the 3rd statement is closed so that the points can be disbursed.”

        • I’ve just received my 4th statement and still no points. Messaged them on chat. If I don’t get a satisfactory response I am lodging a complaint with AFCA on Monday.

  • Yet to receive points or travel credit and been 4 months…

    • I contacted them on chat via the ANZ app and told them call centre has been unhelpful etc and it has been more than 3 months since making the spend. They said they have escalated to a 'loyalty specialist' to resolve it and add the points and cashback

      • +1

I also contacted them via chat on the ANZ app, the response I got was that I "have met the criteria" and "the allocation of these rewards is currently in progress and you may expect this to be credited within this month of February".

So will wait till end of the month then chase them up again, they did say that if I do not receive it that it will be escalated.

        • I've tried contacting them via ANZ app yesterday and still haven't had a response to my message…

          • +1

@cathalm8: Took me about 2 days to get an initial response to my message via ANZ app. Just have to wait…

            • @mitchsaun: Got onto ANZ yesterday on the app after a day waiting for a reply, they weren actually that much help. But alas I received the grailed sms message there now and have my 75k points and 30 sc in my account within 5 mins of clicking the link.

Can i now close the card and hopefully still get the travel credit or does card need to stay open to get the travel credit?

      • They will probably take another month to do it and will have to likely call again. I am going to put in with afca this week, spent too much time trying to chase this up

    • Just to update on this - I finally received the SMS a few mins ago. Hallelujah!

      • +1

        Same here!! Finally

Looks like 30 status credits and 75,000 points came through straight away.

However still waiting for statement credit and travel bank credit?

        • Yep, saw this in one of the emails (landed in the Junk folder):

Your $95 Virgin Australia Travel Credit will be emailed to the email address listed on your Velocity account 4 months from the date of the email previously sent to you which contained your unique Reward Code.
The $50 back to your card offered by ANZ will be credited to your credit card account within 3 months of the offer criteria being met.

But it also seems that not many people are yet to receive the travel credit at minimum anyway.

          • @mitchsaun: $50 credit has now been posted to my account

Just waiting for the travel bank credit, then I can close the account

            • @JHoliday: Good catch - just checked and looks like mine was applied yesterday.

Yet to receive travel bank credit, but I am guessing it will be some time before that happens.

            • +1

@JHoliday: Update on this - $95 travel credit has hit my VA account now.

              • @mitchsaun: Have you had a travel bank previously with them?

Did you get any emails or notifications?

I just logged in to my Velocity Account and clicked 'Travel Bank' but then it takes me to another website asking for a username and password, which I haven't yet been provided.

I can't wait to cancel this card!

                • +1

                  @JHoliday: No previous travel bank.

I got an initial email from Virgin last week (I think?) stating a Travel Bank had been opened for me, had the username as my Velocity number and said my password would be coming (spoiler - it didn't).

Ended up trying my VA # and password a day later and this logged me in. Worth giving it a shot.

Today got another email from Virgin saying it had been applied, logged in to Travel Bank portal and $95 travel credit is there with a 1yr expiry.

                  • @mitchsaun: Looks like we got our points, status credits and statement credit at the same time, but they are going to make me wait longer for the travel bank credit. Thanks for the info.

      • Just to check did you guys contact via chat or phone call? I might do the same

        • +1

Contacted them on chat via the ANZ app. Phone call will get you nowhere.

    My Experience with Anz.

    I have called 6 times.

First time I was told I have to wait for 3 pay statements and that I have met the criteria for the reward points
Second Call, I was told I have to wait 3 months.
Next call, I called after 3 months and was told I have to wait a week after the 3 months.
Next call, I was told they would investigate it
Next call, I was told I am not eligible because I had closed a Frequent Flyer Black card within a year of applying for this ANZ Rewards Platinum.

This is this the first time this has happened, I have had Frequent Flyer and Virgin or rewards at the same time and still be rewarded, I thought they treat them differently ?
Is this there new terms and conditions I am not aware of ?

    Thoughts what to do next?

    • Log a complaint with AFCA

There was no exclusion in the T&Cs that prevented this at the time

They can't retrospectively go back and say this was a condition now

      • I wouldn't AFCA straight away on that. That would be a numpty call centre operator giving wrong info, not an actual change in the rules.

I closed a FF card about three weeks before applying for this, did the 3 month dance and call but eventually got my text/email and immediate points and $50 credit about a week ago, now just waiting on my travel bank…

But yes having a FF card doesn't stop you being eligible for this.

        • Of course if you raise a formal complaint and get nowhere, that's when it's AFCA time. Be aware that AFCA will get you the right outcome (and charge ANZ a bomb for the privilege), but it won't happen fast.

    • Wow, this is new! I am still waiting on my points and credit but will see if I actually get it as I had a FF black card open recently as well.

I also requested a refund on the ANZ ff black card fee and initially i got the credit of 425 back onto my (paper) statement. But before I called up to get it transferred (left it a couple of months) they re-debited the 425 again. I spent an hour or two on the phone already and they dont have a clue whats going. I think iam giving up.

I think ANZ are becoming more hard line on the credit card conditions..

  • Yay finally got the email, applied and hit minimum spend in November last year

  • Received the travel bank account email last week, just got the credit email today.

  • Weird that I have received a text about meeting the eligibility criteria for the points and travel bank.

  • Has anyone else redeemed their 75k points months ago but still hasn’t received any communication about the travel voucher and annual fee credit?

  • I have received the point but no email for the travel credit, how long does it take after you receiving the points.

    • Some weeks

    • I've been waiting about 2 months and nothing yet

  • I signed up in november and met the min spend in December. After 3 statements, I've now been following up on bonus points etc. After much faff I've today been told I have to wait 90 days AFTER meeting the minimum spend before they will follow up on anything. This is just silly.

  • If you don't use the $95 credit in one transaction do you forfeit the rest or does it remain on the account?

e.g. The flight only costs $60 do you lose the $35?

Also just confirming the travel bank credit expires after 12 months right?

  • Received points in January
    Closed card late Feb
    Received travel bank credit today

    • Thanks for the update, how did you receive the travel bank credit? Did they send you different emails saying travel bank created then another one when funds deposited into it?

      • +1

One email from Virgin. If you've previously had a travel bank (e.g. from COVID cancellations/refunds) then it goes into the same Travel Bank ID, accessible using your Virgin FF account.

That might be why I only got one email

  • Received email that Travel Bank has been created finally. Not sure if it's because I requested an escalation yesterday on the ANZ App, or if just a coincidence.
