    • I got the same message and just did the same. Got the points right away.

  • +1

Confirm also received an sms to add in my Velocity number and unique redemption code. Points landed straight after as well.

  • I've just received an SMS asking me to click on a link for the 75k bonus. The URL starts with anz.dgx.one. Has anyone else got that? Is that a legit link?

    • Yes it is and once you fill it out and confirm then the points and SC gets deposited right away.

      • Link doesnt work for me

  • I just received my rewards code via SMS. I’ve only had the card for 4 weeks but met the criteria in the first week. Neither the SMS nor the redemption site said anything about the $50 cashback though.

    • The email I got says the following…

The $50 back to your card offered by ANZ will be credited to your Credit Card Account within 3 months of the offer criteria being met and is not part of this redemption process.

      • Thanks for that. I also received the email a few minutes ago but it does not mention the $50. I might need to contact them. I also received the 75,000 Velocity points and 30 status credits straight away which is great to see! Pretty impressed!

      • Have since received the $50 on my statement listed as “Promotion”.

  • I got an email today to redeem my velocity points but I keep getting this error when adding my email and velocity member number to the form….

"An unknown error has occurred during the processing of your request. Please contact our customer support for further details."

** UPDATE - I am in Bali, had to use VPN to redeem **

    • 5th November: Approved application
    • 21st November: First statement but didn't hit 1.5k spend yet.
    • 25th November: Hit 1.5k spend
    • 29th November: Got an email saying my Airline Partner auto-redemption was successful
    • 8th December 12:23pm: Got an SMS saying I've met the criteria to redeem bonus. Link is using https://anz.dgx.one/... domain (which looks suspicious) but once I clicked it, it redirects to https://velocity-rewards.loyalty.anz.com.au/... which is less suspicious
    • 8th December 12:53pm: Got an email from [email protected] telling me to redeem my bonus at a link with https://velocity-points.deis.com.au/... domain

Nothing mentions the $50 cash back though.. just the velocity points, SC and travel credit - will confirm when the redemption completes!

    • The email I got says the following…

The $50 back to your card offered by ANZ will be credited to your Credit Card Account within 3 months of the offer criteria being met and is not part of this redemption process.

          Same as CashRewards lol

  • Just got them too! Awesome!

  • sounds promising that most starting to get sms/emails, obviously most joined at similar times so they should start flowing through hopefully.

    in my case.

Yeh to receive any sms/email just yet

UPDATE: wow literally 5 minutes after my post i received the sms to redeem the 75,000points etc, followed the steps and the points and SC were in the account instantly

  • 2nd cycle statement. Just got the sms telling me I’m able to claim all the bonus benefits!

“Congrats! You’ve met the eligibility criteria for the Velocity offer on your ANZ Rewards Platinum credit card and now it’s time to redeem your 75k Velocity Points, 30 Status Credits and $95 Virgin Aust. Travel Credit.”

  • Just got the SMS!

  • Just so you guys know, as, it hasn't been posted yet .. just got a sms…… ;)

  • odd that a work colleague who applied a week earlier and reached the minimum spend before me has yet to receive the sms. Assume they will all slowly go out from today

    • yup, i met my spend criteria in mid October and have just received the SMS

  • +1

I just received an sms to redeem as welll. Points and status credit went thru successfully into my Velocity account , but I dont know where to see/look for the $95 travel credit? Anyone?

    • +1

      4months wait time officially
Your $95 Virgin Australia Travel Credit2 will be emailed to the email address listed on your Velocity account 4 months from the date of the email previously sent to you which contained your unique Reward Code.

      • +1

        Thank you!

      • Thanks! The real gold is in the comments! I was wondering where my $95 got to!
First time getting on a CC and some bonus points, was too easy!

        • +1

Yep. They are usually like comprehensive FAQs.

  • Looks like a dodgy link in the SMS but will gamble it

    • Yea I thought so to, that's why I came back here to check but seems alright got the points after clicking and filling the form

  • Only got the card a few weeks ago, hit spend for first statement and got the same text as people above.
    It pays to wait!

    • Waiting isn't ideal for churning. Now that you've got the points, if you apply for a new card it will be the second enquiry within a month. Not ideal.

For those that applied when it was posted, its just over 2 months.

      • I used to apply right away but changed my strategy a few years ago. In my experience, waiting for the initial rush to pass for applications has always yielded a fast processing time (rarely more than 2-4 days). I always have a next card anyways so it's not that hard to delay one card for a month or so. If anything I struggle to keep up with the amount of cards available and hit spends…

        • Waiting may work better when the Credit Card sign up incentive has a clear offering end date. In the case of this PointHacks offer, I don't recall there being an advertised end date, so if one gambled on waiting it out, they would have missed out.

If it's a decent enough offer that has a few months until it ends, then it completely makes sense to potentially delay applying to avoid overspending, or to take advantage of other offers first.

For those who have no shortage of expenses, and are in a position where they're in a shortage of eligible offers, then applying early will reset the cooldown period earlier.

          • @shift6: they actually had a longer date but pulled it before then (mar 2023). and I know that they are never quick enough to pull the special pages even when the offer seemingly "ends". But gotta stay on top of it else yahh you'll miss out. I actually applied after it "ended" but just went directly to the page

  • Like most others, i got the points and status credit. But do you think it's OK to turn off the auto redemption on the points to velocity points while waiting for the $50 cashback and $95 travel credit?

    • It's fine

    • Does that mean you're going to retract your neg then?

      • Haha I don't know how to. At the time it seemed fishy and the website didn't work at all, but OP eventually came back to the conversation, and things got working.

        • Nevermind I found it. It's just not on the front page of the deal, have to go into a different page.

  • I got a SMS that I met the criteria and how to claim the points, I completed a form and got the status and velocity points immediately.

  • Woohoo I got the text too. Sorry dumb question - how can we access the $95 Virgin Australia Travel Credit?

  • Waiting for that text…

    • And got it.

  • just received a text on how to claim 75k velocity after 1st statement issued today, so quick…not sure how to claim $95 Velocity travel voucher

  • 10/11 - applied just before midnight
11/11 - called to get instant approval
16/11 - received card in the mail and spent $1500 there and then
8/12 - just got the text and points have landed, still waiting for the credits

    Pretty quick process for me.

Got my dad to apply for the same card pretty much right after me but unfortunately ANZ gave him the run around and he's only received his card yesterday.

    • When did you set the auto redemption date on your anz rewards account?

      • I set it as 4th or 6th Dec (it was default for me)

  • +1

Haven’t got an SMS yet, hopefully they’re not done!

  • +1

Haven't got an sms either. Approved in October, met the spend in early November.

    Frustrating!

  • Received the SMS today, filled in form and received the points immediately, along with status credits.

Bit silly that it will take more time to get the $50 annual fee refund but whatever, could be worse.

For those that haven't received the SMS, check that the ANZ Rewards account is linked correctly and you have the correct Velocity number on board.

  • +3

$50 cashback has appeared on my statement as “Promotion”. Great to see that it didn’t take 3 months. Just waiting on the $95 travel credit now.

    • +1

      Same here!

  • +2

$50 credit to card posted today, about 12 hours after I got the sms for the velocity points

  • +1

Also got the $50 credited today.

Time to close the card haha 😂

  • What I’ve found interesting is that if you have a statement balance, any payments made before the due date don’t go towards the statement balance but the balance of the current period? Different to Amex

  • I got no email or SMS yet :(

Approved Oct 14 and have had two statements come through.

    • Did you turn on the auto-redemption as instructed?

      • I believe so.

If I log in to ANZ Rewards, go to My Account, My Redemptions, Auto-Redemptions, Velocity is listed there with my card number…

Already had one set of points come through for around 3000 Velocity points, next one scheduled for 21 Dec 2022

        • Perhaps one thing to do is to call up ANZ to ask if they can see whether the promotion was applied (if you haven't already).

When I called up a few weeks ago, the rep was able to see that the promotion was there, but understandably wasn't able to say exactly when it would be processed.

          Just a suggestion.

  • Just got the email - no SMS though.
Comes with a unique code to redeem https://i.imgur.com/sm4r1xE.png

    Approved 13th Oct.

    • That's a good sign that they are still sending them out in batches.. will wait till next week before calling

    • And points have finally arrived in my account.

  • +1

Sorry if this is a dumb question. If I cancel my card and account, do any of the annual fees ($40 and $55) get partially refunded. This is the first card I've used with an annual fee, so not familiar with the processes.

  • Anyone plan to cancel the card and not bother to wait for the $95 travel credit?

    • you might still get it anyway if you cancel if it is due to come from virgin… although not sure.
      I still want it though.

  • Hey all. I'm kind of new to the credit card churning scene.

There's a lot of talk about people wanting to close this card once all benefits have been received.

Just wanted to know how much effect closing cards have on your credit score and your ability to open more cards in the future. Is it worth leaving it open till close to the 1Y mark so it remains on your credit profile for a bit longer or close immediately after all bonuses have been received?

    TIA

    • Just wanted to know how much effect closing cards have on your credit score and your ability to open more cards in the future.

If you want to see how the numbers change, you can engage in services from companies like CreditSavvy, getcreditscore etc who get data from companies like illion, Experian, and Equifax. You'd be able to see how your score changes over time with enquiries, active accounts, closed accounts, etc.

However, one's credit score is just one metric used when it comes to be assessing serviceability of future products like more credit cards, home loans, personal loans, and so on. Other factors like your income, other existing loans held, expenses, age, dependents, etc may also impact the decisioning process when a financial institution assess your future credit card application.

https://moneysmart.gov.au/managing-debt/credit-scores-and-cr… might be a useful resource to review some of these concepts.

Is it worth leaving it open till close to the 1Y mark so it remains on your credit profile for a bit longer or close immediately after all bonuses have been received?

I think it's difficult to answer definitively unless someone showed the secret inner workings of the credit decision process and the factors assessed (unlikely). I'm sure it's easy to read about serial churners who move from card to card, but everyone's personal circumstances are different (income, age, debt, #dependents..).

My general advice is to monitor your accounts and ratings via a credit score service to see how your profile changes, be careful of not overspending for the sake of points, and to be wary of credit activity if you're about to apply for a larger financial burden like a personal or home loan.

      • Thank you shift6. Really appreciate the reply.

Called anz today as have not receieved a text or email as others here have. They said they need to 'post my velocity number on the system' and I would receieve points within 60 days. Seemed to have no idea about this text or email and could not find anyone who knows. Asbolutely useless and no idea if I will receieve the points or not…

    • +1

When I called I got told that they couldn't see my velocity number - but I enrolled in the auto-redemption back in October, and it definitely has my correct velocity number. They then transferred me to the rewards department who said they could see my velocity number and the cards department is wrong, so they transferred me back to the card department, who said they would file an 'escalation' to figure out what is going on, and I'm meant to hear back by the end of the week.

I've only had a card with ANZ once before but it was a similar pass-the-buck kind of experience, its going to have to be a really amazing points offer to tempt me to try them a third time.

      • I don't have any real progress, but I guess for anyone else watching this thread to keep track of the experiences:

In December the only thing I heard back was wait for the 3 months. The 3 months was this week, called again, given a non-answer that they are looking into it, and I am already anticipating having to call again. I will call one more time before trying the complaints team - was hoping to keep that as a backup a little longer, but over it now.

I also can't get secure mail to work on the web banking, always says 'feature unavailable', very convenient, so then I have to run through the timeline with someone new every time I call.

    • Seemed to have no idea about this text or email and could not find anyone who knows. Asbolutely useless and no idea if I will receieve the points or not

The best you'll likely get from frontline staff is whether or not the promotion is attached to your account (e.g. 75k VFF, 30SC, etc.). This would have likely been tagged to your account when signing up through the specific URL and confirm eligibility.

When it comes to processing, it appears that a third party is supporting ANZ in the processing and comms, and I suspect that not all teams are in alignment when it comes to the mechanics of processing the bonus.

I would suggest ensuring your details are correct in the ANZ Rewards site, auto-redemption switched on, etc. Based on any other info you can eek out, it'll either be an issue in the 'eligibility' state, or simply just awaiting eligibility like meeting the minimum spend, or waiting for the third party to process.

    • Seems like a waste of time for me to call them then. I also haven't received the points yet.

Please keep us posted on your progress and the outcome of their investigation.

      • +1

Hi @JHoliday I haven't received the SMS/email yet. I got approved mid October and met min spend around mid November.

What I just noticed is that my phone number is not added correctly in Velocity account. Don't know if this has caused any problem. Maybe check your phone number in velocity.

Also wondering if there are any others that haven't received the SMS/email re teh bonus points.

        • Ohhh thanks I will check

Edit: Phone number on my Velocity account was correct, but country code prefix was set to Other Country (not +61). Doubt that will make a difference but updated it anyway.

          • @JHoliday: @JHoliday Did you receive the SMS/email for the bonus points. I haven't received any and thinking of contacting the ANZ support on Monday.

            • @ck009: Nope nothing unfortunately.

When you call ANZ, at voice prompt say "Customer Care" for complaints or "Card Solutions" for credit card queries. That will get you a lot further than other menu options where you will probably get transferred the wrong department or get usless people multiple times.

By the way, how do you tag people on here? :)

              • +1

@JHoliday: Thanks for that. Will call them and update here on Monday.

I think using the @username (like @ck009) tags the user.

                • @ck009: @ck009 any luck mate?

                  • +1

@JHoliday: @JHoliday I tried calling them twice but there wasa long hold and I was in between meetings so had to hang up. Will calll them again today and post an update here.

                  • +1

@JHoliday: @JHoliday I managed to speak with them today but was transferred from one team to another and none of them were able to tell me when or how the SMS/emails are triggered and on what basis. I raised a SR with the rewards team and the lady said she will give me an update before end of Thursday (48 hours). I will keep you posted.

                  • @JHoliday: @JHoliday hey mate ….did you get the points yet….I still haven't and ANZ hasn't been helpful at all….

                    • @ck009: Nope no points and haven’t contacted them yet. Was going to wait for one more statement

                      • @JHoliday: @JHoliday Am on call with them now….still being transferred from one dept to another and noone has a clue….I am staying on the call for how long ever it's gonna take (36 mins and still going) so that I can put it down in my complaint….

                        • @ck009: Do you have screenshots from your application?

                        • +1

@ck009: @ck009 how did you go with your ANZ case that was logged? Any good news to share?

                          • +1

@JHoliday: @JHoliday I have been trying to get updates but what they are telling me is that I have to wait 3 months from the date of min spend requirement met so that they can investigate into the issue or even escalate it.
I am just waiting for the 3 month period to finish (16-Feb) and then escalate the complaint.

  • Hey guys, have had the card for a week, I didn't realise I needed to link my velocity and turn on auto redemption setting and hit the minimum spend. Am I still eligible for the 75k?

    • +1

I’d say you are fine as long as you switch it on, leave it on and meet the minimum spend

    • +1

Definitely eligible once you meet the requirements.
