Mountain Designs 90L Duffle - $69 Delivered (Club Price, Normally $179.99) @ Mountain Designs

471

Bought one of these last time they were on special, but have never got to use 'cause of 'Rona. Looks well made though and should do the job just fine. Sadly I can't compare quality to the popular North Face versions.

Will be using at the end of the month for a few weeks in Japan. So hopefully all good :)

Actually looks like all sizes are on special again.

50l $49
70l $59
120l $79

      too big

From the reviews it looks like the 50L can be used as carry-on

Depends how full you have it

Pretty sure you can sign up to their newsletter and get $20 off $50 spend. Then buy something for $1 to get free shipping.

    • Ordered a 50L and a bunch of clif bars and used the promo code. Hoping its big enough to carry some clothes, shoes, towel and a lunchbox

      • I have the 50L NorthFace and use it for work. You'll be fine.

  • Interesting. I like the idea of the 90l but it might be too big.

      Buy a 70l instead?

They all have compression straps so you don't have to fill them and have rudimentary backpack straps for carrying.

I regulary travelled with a 80/95l single compartment bushwalking pack, but it was very rarely filled and highly compressed. Pity it died after 30 years :)

Stuff it, I ordered the 90l with the $20 welcome voucher.
        "WELCOME20"

Have 2 of these, 50l and 120l for the past 8 years, have travelled all over with them and they've held up really well. Great for camping and can take a beating. 50l is a good size gym bag, weekender or carry on. The 120 is enormous and fits pretty much anything. Lots of inside stash pockets and one external end pocket. No protection so it's really for clothes and shoes etc but, Ive no complaints really. Solid duffle investment.

  • I got one a while ago last OZ bargin sale, have used it a number of times and it is really sturdy and high quality,

  • Trying to order the 50L (and a carabiner) using the WELCOME20 code, but it then adds delivery for $10!

So needs to be over $50 after the promo code is applied, no option for pickup at the store I’ll be driving past tomorrow :(

I got the 90l, used code and went down to $49. Then added some cheap caribiners to get it over $50.

    Dont forget cashrewards

    Sadly I did

    Thanks OP

  • Can anyone else compare these to the North Face ones?

    • +1

I was just checking that as I know the North Face are solid, Northface = 1000d thickness all round vs this deal 210d main bag (1000 on base only).

      • I have x3 of the North Face ..they are almost too thick and heavy with the 1000d material .. unless you are dragging these over rocks everyday, it is really unnecessary.

In hindsight, I should have got the Patagonia Black Hole duffles.

        • +1

Agreed I have the 95L TNF and it’s overkill too thick

  • Seems like they had a run on their stocks of carabiners

The 3 pack is sold out.

I ended up buying the 34kg one

Still a complete ripoff for what it is. Not a deal.

I used to work at mountain designs and these bags were solid. I still have it and use it for site visits in remote areas and some spearfishing great during time off. Can't fault a stitch.
Unfortunately the company went under and was bought out by Anaconda but I heard they are using the same manufacturers. If that's the case they are still solid bags, just go check them out and have a feel and look at the fabric and stichwork. It should speak for itself

        Good post. Cheers!

I get it it's a lot to pay for a bag
completely get where you're coming from.

  • Thanks OP - bought a 120l one …. sadly the bright yellow was out of stock so had to get the black

  • great price!!!

  • Did the price increase as the 50l is currently 89 even after the $20 welcome credit it is $69?

  • Anyone got their orders cancelled? My first order for the 70L was cancelled and I made a second order for the 90L and the same thing happened. I used the WELCOME20 promo code.

    • yup, my order for the 70L was cancelled :(

    • Yep same with me for the 70l

    • Yep. Ordered a 50L and a 70L, and the 70L got cancelled.

I used the WELCOME20 promo code, which they applied proportionally to the cart items, and that discount has been withheld from the refund (only refunded $48.08, not the $59 item price). Seems a dodgy approach to me.

    • Mine arrived today. 90l black and used the welcome code.

  • Did anyone get their bags? Seems like this has happened before with Mountain designs

    • My bag arrived today. 90l black.

  • the duffle bag comes in carry bag… bagception stuff
