I can't hear you, you're on the wrong frequency

    • LOLed so much it hertz…
and for an extend period and significant magnitude

  • +1

500 μV i wouldn't expect anything less for this price

    Large 7-inch TFT-LCD display with 800 * 480 resolution, too bad its not 4k

    • +15

      why do you need 4k?
I've never stood in the ICU and thought "I wish this patient's heart rhythm was in 4k resolution"

      • +8

        never?

        • +1

          not once

    • +2

800x480 seems a bit 1990s now ….would expect 1080p which even most phones have now ,

Perfect for making ABC channel 2 logos at home

  • +1

    Bought thanks op

  • Must be larakin hour.
Solid price for anyone looking for this sort of gear. Thanks @nuker.

    • I was going to spend just over $100 on a usb one, then looking at some reviews thought better to spend $200 on a self contained one with more functions, now I am here and $687.50 poorer.

      Ozbargain lol

      • Well it just arrived.

Now I can look down on you non-ocilliscope owning peasants!

  • +3

What type of dog is this??

    • +17

      Sub woofer

  • +3

Cue the ‘pulled the trigger now what did I just buy’ posts

  • +1

The 1104X-E is pretty nice, but the X-U comes close and can be had for cheaper if you don't need the extra features (main difference seems to be X-U has a single ADC versus two on the X-E, and so has half the sample rate when using more than 2 channels).

    • +5

but it has half the hardware

    • +3

Do not get X-U, half the hardware.

    • +1

Not bad at all for $499!

  • +11

Is this one of those I-don't-know-what-the-hell this product is and it costs hundreds of dollars, but because it is listed in OzBargain, I shouldn't think and just buy it?

    • +15

You're asking too many questions, just buy it and figure everything out later. This is the Ozbargain way.

    • +2

yep, along with the raspberry pi that doesn’t get used ….

      • Just put it in your raspberri pi pile* like me.

I do actually use them for stuff, but buying in advance means you always seem to have more than you need.

        *not kidding

  • +7

    But can it run Crysis?

  • +1

Jeez! Is a submarine needed for this Osci thingie to function at its full potential?

  • Good deal.

  • +1

Great deal OP! What does it do?

    • +12

It comes with probes. You stick it into yourself and it tells you your fortune on screen.

      • +3

I usually get psychics dressed up as Aliens to do that to me for a fraction of the cost of this deal

        • yes, but you can use this anytime at home ….no need to go to the psychics and get unsterilised probes

      • I already use chopsticks for that!

      • man, that's too expensive for an arse probe ain't it?

  • +1

    Free Serial bus triggering

Woah that's a little harsh, what did the buses do to deserve that?

  • +2

Explain this like I'm 5 please

    • +9

      Its wow cool!

    • +1

They went the full Reddit with this one

    • +2

I tried watching a YouTube video on it and I ended up more confused than when I started.

    • +2

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscilloscope

It has a graph, that visually explains to you the (electric) signals going in. It's useful for sound engineers, certain electricians, and to help diagnose problems. And if you fiddle with them enough, you can compute certain wavelengths, when added together cause certain graphs. Basically a super-dorky way of making art:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gibcRfp4zA

      • lol thats for the dorky video !

    • +2

Explain this like I'm 5 please

It's basically a meter that measures voltage, but it does it many many times a second and shows it to you on a graph. Plus a lot of other fancy things.

    • +1

Say you're measuring AC volts using a mulitmeter. This is fine because it will show you a number (average). but an oscilloscope will show you the actual value over time, ie AC volts is actually alternating between positive and negative volts, ie a sine wave.

You can play around here to get a very rough idea - https://www.falstad.com/circuit/ right click an component and 'view in new scope'

    • +1

Try this. It's 7.5 mins but you'll understand what this is for much better.

  • I bought the SDS1204X-E for $748 6 months ago. How come they have gone up so much?

    • +1

Where? This becomes 1204X-E when you hack it using keygen to 200MHz. It literally shows 1204X-E in its Utilities / Info screen.

      • +1

mine comes with different probes though and i still have a warranty. got mine from wavecom

        • Great deal you got, congrats!

    • -1

How come they have gone up so much?

Global inflasion and rising profits, is that news to you?

  • +2

    Thanks for the post @nuker

It's been so long since I have used an Oscilloscope in anger and I can't think when I will ever use one again.

I learnt a long time ago to think through my Ozbargain purchases
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/155873

BTW do you have any Halloween specials ?

  • +3

Don't know what it does but i bought one.

  • Thanks, I wanted one for my sine job ;-)

  • +1

can you watch Netflix on it?

  • +1

I bought this cos I can

  • +10

never realised there were so many techies here. good to see..

    • +9

      Yeah we're all broke bro

      • I am now :)

    • +1

      Capitalism = Broke STEM Graduates

  • +2

Does it come with the defibrillator pads or are they extra?

  • +1

I could get one but it'd remind me of being an apprentice again - which was being shouted at for low pay.

  • +2

Wow. There are people hunting bargains for specialised equipments? Figured people would fork any price for these products lol

    • +2

For work purposes where it’s a business expense sure, but then you’d likely be going higher end anyway (depending application)
This is a good balance for hobby tasks and such, more likely you’d buy this to use for personal projects at home, in which case price is an important factor

      • Genuinely is this a useful tool if you're not doing AC signals. Like I've always kinda wanted one but about to finish uni so it seems a bit too late now.

    • People use them for electronics projects at home and fixing things and the like (in my case retro pc's and rpi stuff).

      • Don't you just use a regular voltage meter for that? You just need to know what's the output right?

        • You can for most things but can be very helpful if you are trying to diagnose bad chips and the like.

Its 100% overkill for what I needed, I was going to get a cheap hantek scope for the job but ozbargain saved me $-400!

  • not bad, and the new software features are pretty fancy.. but no HDMI out is a miss for me, will stick with my hacked hantek for now

  • is this what tom cruise used in his tomcat cockpit in the 80s?

    • No but they did use these to fly the star destroyers in the war of endor

  • Much difference vs SDS1202X-E apart from number of channels?

  • Uggggh as an electrical engineer this is so tempting omg
