[VIC, Refurb] Gaming PC: 10th Gen i3, GTX 1060, Z490, 16GB RAM & 256GB SSD $550 + $50 Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Price Performance PC

190

Looking for a cheap gaming PC that can play many games 1080p high graphics settings exceeding 60fps?

Here's a why a 10th generation i3 is a better buy than a 7th generation i7 (and previous generations).

Released in 2021 the i3-10105F has more life left compared to the i7-7700 released in 2017.

The i3-10100F can turbo boost to 4.30ghz making it a tad faster than the i7-7700 which can only get to 4.20ghz.0

10th gen systems are Windows 11 ready and the motherboard has Windows 11 drivers. Though there are ways to bypass TPM and install Windows 11 on older generation systems there are no supported Windows 11 drivers and this may cause system instability.

The Z490 motherboard with the latest bios has a decent upgrade path supporting up to an 11th generation i9. Whereas the 7th generation i7 has pretty much maxed out the motherboard.

The Z490 motherboard supports XMP DDR4 speeds up to 5000mhz whereas a comparable Z170 motherboard only supports XMP DDR4 speeds up to 3200mhz.

With that out of the way, we present you with a competitively prices 10th gen i3 budget gaming PC.

  • Specifications and heading state different drive sizes listed. Does the price include both.?

    • Thanks amended. Was editing a previous title and missed that out.

Does the $50 shipping also apply to Tasmania. Cheers

        • Nope VIC only as per ad.

  • I've been out of the loop on gaming for a few years (kids!) - can someone give me an idea of where this sits in terms of being able to handle newer games?

    • This is our cheapest gaming PC built for recessionary times. Check the website for higher end rigs.

This is a midrange setup from a few gens ago that would've played games at 1080p medium to high settings.
Current games will need to use low or tweaked settings as drivers (and games) are not optimised for pascal (gtx1060) but should still perform acceptably.

      • Thank you!

There is absolutely no game this can't play, and won't be for years (likely a decade, barring any major surprises in tech advances). It just won't always manage 4k and/or high framerates above 60FPS in the more demanding games.

Great system for a kid who wants to try proper PC gaming but can't afford $1500 for a fancier rig.

If GPU prices finally crash in the next month or two, they may even be able to throw a more modern budget-to-mid-range GPU in there for another $200 and be enjoying those fancy high res FPS too.

    • The best way to buy a PC is to first work out your budget then ask "what is the best specifications I can buy for this amount?"

If your budget is $600 then this is an okay system and will play newer titles at reasonably high setting at 1080p. But if you want to future proof, play games even more smoothly and higher resolutions it would be much better to buy something with newer specifications. I think for about $1000-1200 you could get something that will last you many more years and perform two to three times better than this system. And with warranty for peace of mind.

But then it wouldnt be budget.

        • +4

It would be in budget if the budget is $1300.

        • +1

Budget isn't necessarily meaning low, it just means a set amount of money that you do not want to cross over, hence a budget! Someone that can spend 1k on a pc without having a budget isn't a budget build, but someone that has a budget of 1k is.

  • Where do the GPUs for this build come from?

    • +4

These are used graphics cards that have been soured from an internet cafe in the Melbourne CBD that sadly closed down. They are still solid performers. If you do want a brand new graphics card we can certainly install a new RTX gpu for you but expect to pay a significant premium.

Id rather pickup a used Xbox Series S if you want a bargain gaming machine and 1060 card is old old now.

Enjoy doing spreadsheets on your Xbox. A PC, even a gaming PC, can do anything you can imagine!

  • So aside from the Win 11 issue - am I correct that this is not an upgrade on an i7-7700 rig with a 980Ti watercooled GPU?

    • We're really comparing two bottom of the barrel systems. I would consider a Ryzen 7 5700X with RTX 3080 to be an upgrade. But that's a $2k system.

Thanks - my son has the system mentioned and was offered $400.00 for it by a mate - I was wondering if I chipped in the additional $150.00 whether this would be an upgrade - but he will be happy sticking with his 'bottom of the barrel system' thank you very much. He has had the computer for 4 years now and is considering upgrading - but does not spend enough Screen Time on it to warrant a $2K bill

        • +1

It's not an upgrade mate. Stick with what you've got. You would want to get a 3060ti and above with a 5600x or better as an upgrade. See my above comment.

        • You’re making the right choice - the 980ti is much better than a 1060 in a lot of games

    • Definitely not an upgrade

  • Have you already put newest bios on mobo?

    • Yes later than the one pictured.

            I didn't say I was slow.

"Price performance PC strives to save you hundreds of dollars on your gaming PC" How? I can build myself one for under $1,000 or buy one for for $600-$1200 second hand if need be.

  • We've just run out of the Thermaltake power supplies and will be using Darkflash 650w 80 plus bronze rated ones instead. Ad edited accordingly.
