    • Where you from?

    • lucky you!
my "next day delivery" that was due today has just been picked up this afternoon, 1800kms away.

  • +1

Has anyone else had an issue with tradein failing at step 3 of checkout. I'm seeing $1 charged on my card but it's unable to get to step 4 : Terms.

I've tried it twice and no luck.

EDIT: JB squaretradeup confirmed it's an issue with NAB cards. I tried with Up mastercard and it worked

  • What if I don't send the trade-in device? Do they just charge my CC for trade-in value?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12799073/redir

In short, yes they will charge credit card for trade in value of the device you didn't send them. They may also charge credit card the $300 bonus, however, no one can be certain on this until a week or so from now. They will also blacklist you from any future trade ins.

      • It looks like it's only when you cancel the trade-in

        • Cancelling the trade-in would equal the same outcome as not sending the device in. They will cancel the voucher if not used or they will charge you CC if voucher already used.

          • @BeerCrisp: Are you sure? They haven't done this before…
I guess we can't say for sure until next 14 days.

"If our Returns Centre doesn’t receive your device(s) within 14 business days, we will either cancel your Trade-in Credit from JB Hi-Fi or charge your credit card the equal amount if the trade-in credit has already been redeemed."

This is clearly the trade-in value not the bonus.

Fingers crossed they don't charge CC for the voucher

            • +1

@KB57: Can confirm via email I received from SquareTrade they only charge the trade-in value not the bonus coupon code, which is yours to keep if you use or not.

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/729640?page=6#comment-1280…

              • @karakaan: Thanks, that's my understanding from t&c's

              • @karakaan: Via email received? Your comment is referring to the pixel 6 trade in last time, correct? No one really knows what will happen this time, if they let the $300 coupon slide or charge it to your credit card if you didn't trade in a device.

              • @karakaan: I noticed the faq has changed.

"Trade-in orders that are cancelled, may also mean coupon cancellation."

                From https://jbhifi.squaretradeup.com.au/faqs

So if you choose to not send the phone, that trade in credit could be cancelled and also 300$ coupon would be cancelled too. If redeemed, they could try to get that money off you.

Maybe they're wisening up to this loophole…

  • Has anyone received the email about the bonus items after ordering online?

    • +4

Ordered yesterday about 10am, nothing just yet.

    • +2

Nope. It says 7 days on the website though so maybe it's after the promo ends?

      • +1

yeah might be. should have just bought it in store, would have got the bonus's instantly.

        • +3

Not necessarily, only a few people on here have said they got the bonuses on the spot in the store. Majority are told to wait for an email / sms to redeem the bonuses.

          • @BeerCrisp: I got all of my stuff in store today. Worker said that I would receive an sms or email about the bonuses. But after walking out of the shop I realised they had printed receipts for the bonuses and stapled them to the main receipt.

    • +2

I ordered online to click and collect in-store. Picked up this morning from the store and asked about the bonus offer. The salespersons didn't completely know about the bonus offer but they checked with head office and they said that online orders will receive emails for the voucher and redemption codes within 7 days. He mentioned if there's any issues to come back in and they'll help to sort it out.

    • Just ordered so it might take a while. How bout you? Have your received the bonus items email yet?

  • Good luck to anyone purchasing the pro version. My screen is already glitching out! on the bottom it was flashing with lines. I took a screen shot thinking it was software related but nope. If it happens again,I'll try getting a pic with my tablet.

    • Haven't experience that yet. My only major complaint is that the phone is so damn slippery….it's like holding a damn fish!

      • +1

Oh yes, even slipper than my S22 Ultra. Really need a case before using.

  • I completed the trade in application but the email with my credit attachment has a corrupted PDF file - anyone else experience that issue or know if i can just quote the order number in-store without the attachment?

    • try opening it on a different device.

      • I have tried two different devices, and opening in online viewers, and downloading, nothing works.

        • +1

Ok they replied pretty quickly to a query with a new email and working voucher!

  • I did this today no worries. I got a $300 coupon from trade in plus $50 trade-in value. I used both in store and also got the vouchers for the google stuff. I got the $100 JB HiFi gift card on the spot. Happy with how it all went down.

They did waste a bit of my time trying to upsell me on a phone plan - if you're in a rush maybe just be totally clear and upfront you just want the damn phone.

  • All of the JBhifi , telstra or optus stores did not have a working demo model, all of them said the phone is not charging.
I wanted to potentially trade in my pixel 5 for 7. Form factor is an issue as well on 7, the edges can be felt and i can see this being an issue with gesture controls.
Might just stick with the 5 till 8 is launched

  • For those who ordered online and have received the phone, may I ask how long did it take them to issue the invoice? I want to claim TRS but I'm flying out on 17 Dec which would be just outside the window to get the bonus Chromecast & Nest Hub.

    Can you share details about:
    1) when did you place your order?
    2) delivery method (e.g. click collect, shipping, etc)
    3) when did you receive the invoice and issue date of the invoice?

    Thanks!

    • +1

I did click and collect and a physical invoice is given on pickup and one is also emailed too you at the same time.

      • Was the invoice sent after you collect? Or when your order was "ready for collection"?
Also, what's the "issue date" printed on the invoice?

      • +1

i did C&C. didn't get the physical invoice but got the invoice emailed to me at the time of collection. Issue date of invoice is 14th which is the day i collected the phone.

      • I did an online order for click and collect and I didn't get an invoice printed on the day. I got a receipt of collection thing. I wasn't too fussed as it was connected to my JB Hi-Fi account anyway.
Proper invoice came in email the following day.
        It has two dates:
        1. "Order #JB….. Placed on 13 Oct 2022"… which was the date I ordered it (but also collected it :P )
        2. Issue date 14 Oct 2022

      • I got the invoice after ordering online, $699.

  • I am still confused.

I have a Pixel 5, if I go by the squaretrade they quoted $220 trade in value.

    I suppose if I get the phone before 16 Oct 2022 I will receive Chromecast + Nest Hub + $100 Give card + Pixel 7 for $999-220-300 = $479?

And all I need to do is to go through the trade in process online, bring the trade in credit voucher and $300 pixel 7 bonus voucher in store?

    • Yes

    • Yep.

    • Yep to all of it. I am in the same boat. The jb hifi guy confirmed the 100GC will be given in store and on the spot.
A new phone thats gonna last for minimum 3 years for me at 479-100 = $300 doesnt seem to be a bad deal at the moment.
Chromecast and hub 2 is not a deal breaker for me

      • Which JB Hifi guy told you this?
Conditions clearly say you gave to wait a week.

    • +3

Hey mate I went and did this today after seeing comments here.

      Here's what I did.
Go to squaretrade for Pixel 5.
Used my drivers license to verify and
To pay, used my Debit mastercard to pay (the visa credit card failed coz of NAB gateway)

      Once all that is done.
You get an email for $220, in that email there's a picture that actives the $300 bonus.
      You get a 2nd email for $300.

You go to the store, confirm they are doing the google deal (nest, chromecast, $100)
Then at payment, you use the $220+$300
      You then pay the remainder.
After that, they will generate a code for nest and chromecast (you can't use today, must wait till tomorrow)
You then get a $100 gc, you can use in that store right after

      • They didn't allow you to use the $100 GC on the phone?

  • +2

I click and collected mine today. Staff in store insisted I will get vouchers for Google stuff plus the gift card later.

    • +1

Got all the things instantly today, last 128 pro obsidian at JB Knox

      • Same, collected everything at time of purchase in store.

    • +1

      Same but collected yesterday

    • +1

@Aureus I purchased and didn't mention in store the $100 gift card, Chromecast and
Nest hub as I was under the impression they'd be emailed. An hour after my purchase I was called by the store to be told they made a mistake, and were suppose to issue a gift card on the spot in store. Went back, was issued the gift card and was told I'll receive a text/email with the coupon codes for the Nest hub and Chromecast.

Not sure whether I'll have to pop back in store.

    FYI

Pixel 3 and 3a 64gb are $10 trade in value.

I went on FB market place.. found 1 for 140.. got him down to $110.

Checked it out, was good, brought it.

Went to trade in site > got $300 bonus +$10 e gift cert.

If you can find anyone selling 2nd hand phone for 100-150, its worth it.

His still got one more to sell,

    Good luck 🤞

Also.. got all the goodies instore upon phone pick up inc gc.

    • +2

Nice! Better value in watches usually, can get second hand Galaxy Watch 3's for $80 and their trade in value is $80 so don't lose out on anything!

      • Don't know anything about the watches so this is all news to me.

Hard part for me would be to know what im looking for or traps to avoid.

Thank you for the info fellow bargain hunter.

    • +2

I have a pixel 3 but it has a crack on the screen so they wouldn't give me anything for it. I bought an iphone 8 plus 64GB off FB marketplace for $110 and traded it in for $140 plus the $300. I think an iphone is probably better value and easier to find.

      • Good call.. thanks for the share 🙏

      • You could have just told them it was in perfect condition, got the $300, but then never sent the phone.
Although with your method you actually made $30 and didn't risk getting 'blacklisted', so better overall.

        • +1

Yeah I do shop at JB hi-fi a lot so didn't want to be blacklisted but I also thought they would checking it in the store

  • Bought a mate's iphone 8 for $100 to trade in for $60.

  • Can anyone confirm what needs to be included in the return? Just the phone itself? Charger, cables etc?

    • +1

Just the phone (factory reset with no account locks etc on it)

      • Thank you for that

  • pixel 7 pro flagship phone + $100 jb voucher + google chromecast + google nest hub + $100 woolworths credit = $1,000 (minus your old phone value)

    Is this correct?

    • wws credit?

      • +1

Buy $1000 worth of gift cards from woolworths and you get 10% value back on your rewards card

        • "10% value back on your rewards card"

how did you get that back. is it in cash? or is that 10 percent meant for you to spend when shopping
          ??

  • Got to say, everything went smoothly on the purchase, buy phone is buggy. Wifi dropout etc so far is main issue. Hopefully updates etc can help..

    • Oh that's no good. Maybe go back and make a big fuss. I picked mine up on Thursday night and haven't had any issues yet. Gets a bit warm but I'm putting that down to new chip, new OS, and software settling in period.
Haven't had wifi issues at all.

  • +1

It sounds like the poor JB staff weren't told about the bonus offer and there's been a lot of confusion about how to distribute the coupon codes to customers. I went in at 9am yesterday to buy a phone and had to go back twice afterwards to pick up the $100 voucher (yesterday) and the Nest bundle (today). Very happy with the trade-in credit + Nest bundle bonus though, it's a great double offer.

Bottom line - if you bought a P7 or P7Pro and haven't got your bonus items yet, get in touch with the JB store or customer service because the process seems to be working fine now.

  • +1

Yeah they didnt give me the gift card but after ringing today they said come back. I did get vouchers printed at the time of purchase for the hub and chromecast. When i called today she said no one elses vouchers were printing and they should be coming via sms email. Its been a bit of a mess.

  • Couldn't this be done further with getting the phone's inital value - my xs max being $200…

Then getting that $200 credit plus the $300 credit…

Not shipping the phone over to squaretrade and selling it privately for OVER the trade in price?

    • Sure, if you can guarantee they won't charge you the $300 to your credit card for not trading anything in.

      • wouldn't it be the trade in value and not the coupon?

        • No one knows what will happen this time around, last time they didn't charge the $300 coupon, though this time they might, never know.

          • @BeerCrisp: "Trade-in orders that are cancelled, may also mean coupon cancellation."

            From https://jbhifi.squaretradeup.com.au/faqs

Maybe they're wisening up to this loophole…

            • @theo96: Absolutely nothing there about the bonus coupon, only the trade-in credit.

              • @Coops1: I think the "coupon cancellation" refers to the bonus coupon, since there is only 1 coupon?

                • @theo96: "Trade-in orders that are cancelled, may also mean coupon cancellation."
I guess that means if you did not redeem your trade in credit and decide to not send the phone, they will cancel the trade in credit and coupon cancellation which is the bonus 300$. If you had already used that 300$, I wonder if they are able to debit this from your account? Can you try and maybe get blacklisted for us and let us know if they also tried to debit 300$ from you? I would do it for my pixel 3 but it bootlooped once a year ago and i know i definitely want it gone.

  • Impulse buy, ended up with 256 GB Pro in obsidian black. Was given the gift card on spot, and told to return the next day for freebies but the cashier was happy to hand it over today itself.

Ended up about 380 in cash out of pocket (rest on gift cards) could have avoided that by picking Woolies cards.

  • Purchased online on Thursday, click and collected same day at Bankstown . Was told email/sms with bonus google products + gift card would be sent within 7 days.

Tried calling this morning since there are so many different reports and phone sales rep said await email/sms

    • +1

I haven't seen any reports of anyone who has done a C&C order getting the bonuses just yet (including myself, nothing received)

      • Yeah same nothing yet, only been two days I guess from release/ordering.

      • Yeah maybe I'm getting confused with all the different ways people are buying this.

Maybe let's use this comment as a check in for people who click and collect?

        • +1

Click and Collect here too. No bonuses yet and told everythig\ng will be emailed.

  • +1

Hey guys please help. What will happen if I had a change of mind with the trade in? I haven't redeemed the codes and will not be buying the pixel 7 anymore. Ta!

    • Reply to the trade in email and ask them (nicely) to cancel your trade in.

    • Yep. As above. Quick response to cancel.

Worth noting they refuse to delete personal data (including photos of drivers licence and selfie video) citing "data retention obligations under the Victorian second hand and pawnbrokers act of 1989”, even in this scenario where the transaction has been cancelled.

  • Isn't the Optus/HN deal better?

Works out to around $700-$750 including $150 voucher for 7 Pro

    • No trade in bonus I believe

      • And Optus
..contract. Pretty dishonest everyone trying to buy with a view of cancelling to pay half the price of 24 months.

        • Hahaha who cares? People do alot worse to save here.

Triple dipping, scamming companies to save $2.

Who cares about Optus! They just had a data leak, and so did Mydeal aka WW.

You can't trust any of these companies.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yeah fair enough. Just saying that the JB hi-fi deal is heaps good enough considering the discounts for a brand new release flagship phone.

The lengths people go to for $2 is pretty good.. gift cards upon gift cards stacked with this and that, ha

            • @G-rig: I don't have a phone to trade

It's good enough if you want useless bonus products I personally don't need and a Google credit which is useless to me.

I can sell the HN voucher for 10% less, I doubt anyone buys Google credit for 10% off

Just doesn't stack up for me personally.

              • @[Deactivated]: Yeah fair enough.. more effort signing up to Optus, cancelling and stuffing around, what's your time worth..

I buy phones outright, the pixels pretty reasonable compare to an iPhone for 2k.

Already have a Google TV and hub, but will be able to use the $100:JB voucher sometime (and just sell the bonus stuff).

Agree, the Google credit isn't useful personally so preferred the JB deal.

                • @G-rig: Sign up, and cancel same day or following day

                  It takes no time

                  Lol

                  But each to their own

                  • @[Deactivated]: Did you Port your number or just sign up a New one you don't care about?

                    Yeah whatever works, spitting hairs.

                    • @G-rig: Why would I port my actual number?

I'm just going to sign up under a new number, so they can throw it away

  • I already used my $300 voucher but just wondering if the code is unique.. mine ends in WPCPB

    • +1

      Nah mines different

      • What did you trade?

        • S10 5g

          • @That Guy: Mine was pixel 3.. wonder if its device or amount specific to trade in value 🤔

Guess the only real way to test it would be trying to scan the barcode again and see what happens

            • +1

@vash5: Mine was also a pixel 3 but was a different code to yours
I imagine they're at least unique to ensure only used once….
