This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

Currently ~$400 including delivery and GST anywhere else I can find it. The 8GB/256GB version was last on here in May at $320 and the 6GB/128GB version in March at $260 so this seems pretty good.

Apparently the camera is surprisingly good in regular light for a budget phone although it looks like video stabilisation is pretty absent and as with most budget phones it's still bad in low light.

Screen: 6.43", 1080 x 2400 pixels, 90Hz AMOLED
Processor: Mediatek Helio G96 2.05GHz
Camera: Triple, 64MP+8MP+2MP
Battery: 5000mAh
Antutu v9: ~335,000
Geekbench: ~1,750
Audio jack, NFC

I bought the 128gb one during the March deal mentioned above and have been happy with quality and performance.

  • Why is the 6/128 listed @$381. Seems like a pricing error who knows if they will ship it

    • holy Moly, look at the absolute unit of a camera module on this thing.

    • +2

      They just shipped mine

      • Mine was marked as shipped a few hours back too. Deal's been up for over 24 hours now. Doubt it's a pricing error.

  • Does Google Pay work on these in Australia

    • +1

      Yes.

    • +2

I have an X3 Pro and Google Pay works just fine.

  • +5

I got this one coming from an S10e. The hardware is good but the software is horrible - mine used to freeze and reboot twice a day but I think an update has fixed it. Full of bloatware too. Bluetooth is really quiet on every device.

I avoided Samsung as their devices don't seem to last so thought I'd give this a try but I really miss the Samsung software.

    • +2

I have an X3 Pro (which has a snapdragon in it) and haven't had problems with it freezing or crashing. The problems are probably related to the MTK chipset. As for bloatware, mine has much less than Samsungs (one of the reasons I don't like Samsung phones), but then again, I don't know which ROM I have on mine (can't remember) or you have on yours.

      • +1

Same here, wasn't much bloatware on my X3 Pro. The Snapdragon chip has been able to handle everything I throw at it, haven't had any freezing or crashing problems either.

    • +1

That's interesting. I've had a lot of Xiaomi phones but never a mediatek and I'm overall quite happy with MIUI.

Only issue is the aggressive battery management and having to ensure certain apps don't get killed.

      • I had a mediatek on oppo phone and amaze on the power efficiency.

      • +6

MIUI is fine, don't get all the hate at all.

        • +4

I really think it's a bit of a china bad argument sometimes.

          • @knk: Or they tried older versions. Coloros on my Oppo is pretty good now. MIUI has probably improved a lot too..

    • +5

If samsung devices don't last, what does? I keep my old devices s8, s10e, s10+ and they still get sw updates and they are doing their jobs just fine. There could be many other reasons to avoid samsung but longevity/durability is not one of them, imo.

      • +1

Word. My S10 5G is still impressive and it just received an update

      • The battery only lasts 3 hours and the usb port won't take a charge.

    • +2

It's the bloatware that puts me off these phones or any phones with bloatware. I haven't strayed from low end Moto or Nokia for years as I'd rather have a vanilla potato than apps I can't scrub.

  • +3

This price is so close to the mi 11 it's hard to decide

    • +3

      gsmarena comparison

      • M4 Pro has performance advantage (10-75% depending on benchmark)
      • M4 Pro has double the memory and double the storage vs Note 11 in OzB deals
      • M4 Pro Mediatek vs Note 11 Snapdragon
      • M4 Pro more MP on camera, but camera depends on a lot more than raw MP. Click on Compare PHOTO/ Compare VIDEO link near the bottom of that page to see if you notice any difference. I thought the M4 Pro looked a little better, but my eyes are farked lol
      • Display, battery, weight, size and everything else about the same

Specs/feature wise, they are the same phone with different CPU, memory, storage and camera

      • Interestingly, up until RN9 Xiaomi put Gorilla Glass 5, now these come with GG3. Is that a downgrade?

      • The GSMArena video comparison shows much better video on the RN8 than in the Poco M4 Pro simply bc the RN8 specs say it does 4K video, and the Poco doesn't. I'm not putting much stock on that; the sensor may have 100 more pixels, but if the optics of the sensor and the lenses aren't good, it's 400K pixels filled with garbage.

    • +1

where you can get Mi 11 for this price

      • +1

There has been a couple of recent deal posts, like yesterday.

        • You mean the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 ( two posts in 24 hrs )?

    • Do you mean the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 or the Xiaomi Mi 11? Two very different phones.

  • -2

    Ew Mediatek. Snapdragon FTW

  • Is Poco getting flagship and midrange devices too? Exynos 9825 from the note 10 plus is much faster than the Mediatek.

  • +1

Does it have nfc…google pay please?

    • +6

See last word of OP's post

  • +1

thanks bought one for my kid

  • No 4k video, only full HD.

    • Does anyone really use 4K video with mobile phone lenses?? My wife's RN8 has 4K video, she doesn't even know how to turn it on, and even if she did, she'd have trouble storing, transferring it or backing it up.

  • how is gcam on this phone?

  • Anyone found any deals on the x4 pro?

  • Hmm, double the ram/storage of the Redmi Note 11 deal but doesn't look like there's any custom ROMs for it being Mediatek. At least bootloader is still unlockable.

  • Camera is subpar according to TechTablets review front facing video and stills look washed out or look like 720p upscaled to 1080p. Would there have been new firmware that would have resolved these issues?

    • +4

      Looking at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5W7r76fQoc

… it seems the M4 Pro is noticeably better than the X4 Pro 5G in most circumstances. Especially considering the best X4 Pro 5G specials for 8GB/256GB are ~$400 and it's $500+ not on special (currently on special at Banggood for $475 inc GST).

X4 Pro 5G definitely isn't as washed out in some circumstances and is better in low light but in most situations the M4 Pro has more detail and just shockingly better video stabilisation, I was surprised by that.

  • +1

    Thanks..got one.

    • Did you receive it? A couple of us got our order cancelled for a missing in transit reason

  • +1

Thanks.. bought one for my son.

    • Did you receive it? A couple of us got our order cancelled for a missing in transit reason

      • +1

        No.
        Returned and refunded without notice.

  • +1

Good deal but these are the prices Redmi & poko need to be selling at anyway…

  • -1

Leaving it as it doesn't have 5g

    • -5

Stop negging for stating a fact.. get a life

  • No 5G, no thanks. The Motorola offer from last week was better. Especially since Boost offers 5G for their best value pre-paid annual packages.

  • Bought 2, for the missus & I (we are still on RN8 & RN7, respectively). Thanks OP.

  • Is that $240.45GBP? it's showing as $374.74AUD for me and that's the 6/128 model

    • +2

Looks like this deal is done. It was only the black 8/256 at this price, OOS.

      • Yeah looks like black is sold out in that spec.

  • +3

Did anyone got mail from Amazon about Refund? My order is cancelled and refund processed.

Last week I got mail with tracking details, not sure what's wrong.

    • +1

Yep just got the refund email. MF's!!!

    • +1

Same here. I got tracking details but order was refunded this morning. Amazon chat said that the item was "lost in transit" and they won't now fulfil the order at the original price. I wonder how many others were "lost in transit"?

      • +1

I spent some time on Amazon chat this morning seeking a remedy. I accepted a $30 credit applied to my account. It took an hour of my time, so probably not worth it in the end.

        • Had the same thing this morning. What did you say to get the credit?

          • @solicitor15: Explained that I hadn't cancelled the order, said that I was aware of several customers having their orders cancelled this morning, and that it was unacceptable. I was offered a $10 credit pretty much straight away, which I refused and continued to ask them to honour the original price. After several changes of customer service people on the online chat, and a phone call from Amazon, I was offered a $30 credit and I figured that was the best offer I would get. If doing it again, I'd accept the $10 straight away and not draw it out - the return on time invested is not worth it.

      • +1

My e-mail said I'd returned for refund.
Got onto chat & asked what was going on. They then said there was no movement on tracking so considered it lost. Sounded a bit sus to me.
I said I'd prefer the mobile and as it had been refunded, could I reorder at the same price. He came back and said it had gone up in price but as a one off they would add the difference to my account so I could reorder. So, refund plus difference = $361.30

        • +1

Good result! Just goes to show they can provide good customer service, but it's very inconsistent.

          • +1

@Trumble: Yup, inconsistent customer service. Just like ebay. These big companies are not good at training IMO.

I just don't believe so many "got lost".

  • +1

I received the email today: "We’ve received the item below and have issued your refund. Thank you for sending the item back. Your return is now complete". But I never received the item.

    • just recieved the same email..
      never received the parcel

  • Did anyone actually receive the phone?

  • +2

Damn, same here, got refunded as well. I've reached out to Customer service and they had mixed answers, terrible service. Told me shipment was missing. Crap, don't know if it's true or just full of BS. 🤨

  • +1

Mine also returned and refunded without notice

    • +2

Got the difference in gift card balance which was about 121 dollars.. I had to be pretty firm cuz they weren't gonna give me anything.. Pleased with the outcome.

      • What did you say to them?

        • +4

I was denied and told that getting a credit for the difference to repurchase the phone was not an option.. I said.. That's not good enough.. As I purchased the item in a lightning deal listed on the ebay aus site in good faith it would be honored.. The money was taken.. I waited and purchased cases for the phone in the waiting time.. And that if he couldn't do something I wish to speak to a higher up support.. He then went off and said he'd see what he could do.. 10 mins later agreed to a gift balance credit…

          • +2

@chookpoo: thanks @chookpoo your method worked for me. I insisted they give me the price difference up front so I don't have to chase them again after I order it again. it took a bit of pressuring them to give me the up front credit but eventually they agreed.
as initially they didn't want to give me anything and said they can't price match the original price which is a load of bs.

  • Mine is stuck too, guess I'm going to get a refund as well.

Was everyone's order sent using Australia Post Global ?

  • +2

I am pissed. I ordered a good 8 hours before posting the deal because this was my first post and OzBargain doesn't allow you to post deals when mods are asleep. Mine was also cancelled ~12 hours ago. So it's hard to imagine it's a stock issue.

Rep is saying they'll refund the difference, we'll see.

    • +3

Rep changed and said they can refund $50 now but if I re-order they'll refund the rest of the difference as well. Since I've already ordered accessories and it's a decent phone I probably will but I remain pissed.

      • Seems like you got a decent rep.

      • +1

Hope you actually get it. This has happened to me before. Place the order from Amazon UK via AU, gets dispatched, wait a few weeks, get refund notice. Order again, go through same waiting game till the refund comes through again.

        • Well that's concerning. The battery on my phone is pretty crap, I was really keen for this one to arrive in one week. Going another 2 weeks for just another cancellation would very much suck. Hmm.

          • @DonWilson: Same here. Rep said order again and difference will be paid once delivered. Just ordered again. Hope it gets delivered this time and difference will be paid

        • Yes happened to me as well for a headphone from Amazon UK, went through the same process but luckily they had the stock in Aus and I was able to order that and get the difference back.

  • +1

Never received the item, got an email saying "if the item doesn't arrive by 26th I could go for refund" on the 25th it stated I had returned the item and was refunded. Really anoyed because my partner really needed a replacement phone and we waited a month.

    update:
spoke to a rep and he said he couldn't provide any compensation like others. sadge

  • +2

In the same boat. Apparently package was damaged in transit or the labels were smudged. Strange everyone seems to be impacted.

Contacted them on chat and they couldn't re-order the phone for me. What they could do is refund me the difference between the price now and when it was on sale. I had to initiate the reorder and pay the price it is today. They'll then refund the differnence once it ships (2-3 days).

While annoying - at least I should get the phone on the sale price without additional cost other than a further delay of 10-11 days for delivery.

    • And you believe them? After all this?? Good luck getting that refund. Why don't they just resend it? Why require you to reorder?

      • +2

"Why no just resend it?" - No kidding! Instead I need to jump through their hoops and comply to their requirements rather than putting the customer first. In fact, why even just cancel the order and refund it without first checking if the same item could be sourced elsewhere and delivered seamlessly - or at least give customers a choice like "I'm sorry, but the original shipment was damaged, would you like a refund or would you like us to reorder it

"And you believe them?" - No I didn't believe them, but I got it in writing from them. It was done over their chat so I had a chat history plus they sent a follow up commitment through to email.

Your post prompted me to follow up; because they failed to live up to the commitment of refunding once the item shipped. No refund in sight. Had 1.5 hours of chat with them where they would only refund $50 to my payment source, and provide the rest in store credit which is not what was agreed to nor what I wanted. Was told that special refund requests are capped at $50 per order.

$70 will be credited to my account in 1-2 business days and I can see that there is a $50 refund that has yet to land on my payment source.

Previously I'd had good experiences with Amazon customer service however it's clear can't be trusted when they break out of agreements made in writing. Their employees in the Philippines don't seem to be empowered enough to do their jobs properly. This I think is the answer to most of your questions, they can't do these thing because the employees aren't empowered to do them.

        • +1

Update - Both refunds of store credit and $50 back to original paying method have come through.

          • @BarginBandit: Does the credit have an expired date? Can I wait till the Black Friday to order?

            • @oadvdotcom: They credit it back as an Amazon balance amount which is seen under the "Gift card" section of your account in Amazon.com.au; according to the terms I found "Your Amazon.com.au Balance and Gift Cards do not expire, including those with a printed expiry period or those previously subject to an expiry period." (Source: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?node…)

Balance can be used anywhere on Amazon. It's essentially a non-refundable credit on your account.

  • on the same boat here. rep's response below.

"We have been receiving such issues from other customers too for this order and thus have forwarded it to the investigating team to go through the details. I assure you won't have to go through such an experience in future. Once the investigation is over the team might update about the same, but I can't assure you. i'm sorry to say that I won't be able to reordered it for you at the same price. I have escalated the issue to the investigating team. Hope the investigation is over the team might update about the same"

    • +2

      update

One of the other rep told me to re-order and once the order is delivered they will pay for the price difference. If you still need the phone, i would suggest that you reach out to them again until some other rep agrees to this. Thanks

      • Hey mate, did they get back to you with the solution, or did you chat with another rep instead?

        • each rep was giving me different answers. After trying with 3 reps, the last one told me that i can order another one and they will pay for the price difference once the order is delivered. I asked how will i request the rebate, the rep told me to reach out to them via chat again which has our chat history and provide the two order numbers (old one & new one), they will refund the difference as a gift voucher.

          • @Ted0525: And you believe them? After all this?? Good luck getting that refund. Why don't they just resend it? Why require you to reorder?

            • +1

@wisdomtooth: Hey mate. i got the phone today and amazon aslo send me a partial refund as well.

      • UPDATE: I got the phone today. I reached out to amazon for the refund of the price difference. They issued partial refund for the order to my card.

        Thanks

  • I had 2 orders, one arrived with austpost in 5 days and the 2nd still stuck with Couriers please in Perth and I'm based in Sydney

    • I'm guessing you paid the extra for the ~1 week shipping?

      • +1

        No, both regular prime shipping
