    TLDR: everyone here is poor.

    • +1

And hating on people that can afford is a thing.

      • +2

        good o' tall poppy syndrome?

      • +1

        Always has been

  • Hi Op, serious question, can I go and pick it up? Last time I purchased 3060, you said you don't accept pick up due to covid, now the covid is, "gone", can we do pick up? Thanks.

  • +2

What is the warranty for the card? How well do Gainward and TechFast handle warranty issues?

  • +2

Yes, but can it open up 2 Chrome tabs at a time?

    • +1

      Are you mad?!

  • My bad, thought we were just yelling out any random shit on this post. Carry on then.

    • +1

I meant mad as in crazy. You think this video card can handle 2 chrome tabs at once. There will be a meltdown.

  • Nah I'm good thanks.

  • +3

I got one of these for pong at 24fps

    • +3

Might want to undervolt that video card. Dont want to over stress the card.

      • Thinking about overclocking it. Despite the GPU usage being at 0% I want to ensure none of those frames are ever dropped.

        • Watercooling loop is the way to go then.

          • @xoom: Too late I ordered it this morning when I saw the much lower price. I'm locked in.

These overengineered coolers are probably better than water anyway.

            • @Matthew xxl: I have 3 rads, one being 1260mm. Based on my previous 3080/90 I have concerns whether I could even keep this cool. I think I agree with you. Waiting to see how others fare before considering buying one

  • -7

So many nubs complaining about price. This is the top tier model and obviously comes with a price. Wait for the 4060/4070 models or go to team Red aka team pleb ya plebs lol

  • If every new gen price rise like this, some people may need to take a loan to buy one in few more gen, like buy a new car. Nvidia too greedy

    • Well nobody told apple users that i pressume.

      • this is more expensive than 14inch m2 macbook pro and almost 2 times the price of m2 macbook air, but i don't believe their cost more than any of them. so ya, they are much more greedy than Apple. If Nvidia sells a lot of these, i guess Apple, Samsung, AMD ect will follow suit. Consumer lost.

        • Consumers have been losing a lot. We have been losing features that have usually been included specially for the top end devices. And consumers agreeing and defending these anti consumer behaviour are just as guilty as the companies doing these actions. Like removing the headphone jack, Ir blaster, and wall chargers. Its all greed.

When corporations remove features from a device manufacturing costs lowers but does it reflect in the retail price? Ofcourse not. So you are paying more for less.

If your only defense if you don't use said feature then don't use. You don't have to.

  • Would love to support you again (bought the last non-LHR 3080 from you) but …that price…

Out of interest, i got this from old posts and updated a bit recently. It is so manual to compile, so it is prone to human error and out of dateness.

    • How do we even know those 12gb and 16gb numbers the 4080 cards aren't out yet.

    • For this card you should have the $ per frame (4k) since it's the resolution that matters most.

    • +1

      Nicely done.

The $799 6800XT is looking like a solid deal in retrospect. That was the one that pushed me over the edge so nice to see I can stave off buyers regret for another 2-3 months when inevitably GPU prices drop again

      • The 6600 XT, 6700 XT and more 6800 XT are the winners according to side by side plays with the new arc cards!

      • used 3080 would be better I think, you get RT, DLSS and CUDA. RT is beautiful and I think it would be a must if you are getting a new card at such a high price.

    • is the 24gb vram on 3090 good for productivity work? I don't really game that much. I was thinking of getting the 3090 instead of 4080

      • depends on the work, for ML 24 GB is great

  • Did anyone not get a confirmation email? How do we know that we have put in the correct details?

    • I got a confirmation email.

  • I need this bad I don't get 144fps in Overwatch (2) anymore

    • Just buy it.

    • wtf?? how are you not getting 144fps+? are you playing in 4k?

      • I have a GTX 1070 that is barely hitting 30fps in Overwatch 2. I have to have all the settings on their absolute lowest.

        • Is that 4k?? Seems low compared to mine on a 1080 for any other res

      • I have a 1080 1440p. moves up and down a lot, sometimes dips bit below 100. I haven't really tried to adjust for higher fps

  • It shouldn't have been posted here as it is not technically a deal - it is a futures (the obligation to sell or buy an asset at a later date at an agreed-upon price). And your statement "There is no lower price in Australia" is total bullshit as currently you have NO stock on hand. "No lower price" is highly likely to change from 1st week of November.

  • +1

Those saying its terrible value. I disagree. It's overpriced in the sense that nividia is trying to create a new normal. That is sinister.

It's not terrible value when it comes to performance. The fact that it's twice a 3080 with more than twice the fps means that your paying for more. That more might be too much. But unlike the 3090ti, it's not the best by 5% anymore (which is the kind of thinking Nvidia is trying to manipulate out of us)

    • +2

If the computing industry had historically had price increase near linearly in relation to performance increase, that would have resulted in current desktop CPU's costing millions or billions of dollars right now.

To be fair, the entire rate of semiconductor process improvement has drastically slowed over the last decade whilst increasing in price significantly and NVIDIA are spending a vast sum on R&D. It's not going to be like the good old days with large performance increases for nearly same price going forward sadly.

    • If you logic is right, then i5 12400 should sell 200 times the price of pentium cpu in year 2000. iphone 14 should sell 100 times of price of iphone 4.

      • It's not linear.

        For context:
        It's 20% more then the 3090.
8-10% of that (ballpark) is inflation.
Chips are more expensive, particularly going from 8nm to 4nm process.

But, it offers easy 60-70% performance increase.

Maybe I can sneak one of these into the cost of our house build. Bundle it with "security system" as it will need its own for that price, or "heating" saving heaps on installing ducted.

Can you bundle it with a Varjo Aero, you know, so I can see the security footage and definitely not for wicked VR gaming

  • +1

Will this work well on my 15inch CRT monitor at 800x600?

    • Sure, a few adapters and Robert's your father's brother.

  • +1

It is an overkill for current gen games

  • Lol - that is a joke price right?
    Is this April 1?

  • Welp, guess I’m going back to integrated graphics card

    • Thought about a pre-owned mining card?

  • So when can we expect this GPU to drop in price? Or do Nvidia hold on to the price? I will be upgrading my comp when there is game I want, e.g. GTA6

  • Keen to hear pricing on RTX 4010.

  • It's too big for my NR200P case

    • If the size on the official website is correct, this should fit inside an NR200P. I am thinking of buying it to fit in mine. The PNY 4090 should fit also (I think).

I know the gigabyte aorus 3090 fit and that card is also 70mm high, same as this card.

  • anyone here found pictures of the pcb of the gainward?

    • We google such very different images…

  • Any new deals on prebuilt 3080/3080ti soon?

  • Any deals for graphix cards under $150?

  • Is the 24gb vram on 3090 better for productivity work? I don't really game that much. I was thinking of getting the 3090 instead of 4080. This 4090 is out of my budget tbh, should I get 3090 on sale or a 4080 if I barely game?

    • I was like you, i picked up a 3090 trio on ebay for 1200 with gift cards. Looking at these prices it feels like i stole it.

    • It depends on what kind of productivity work you do. Some require more VRAM (3090 would be much better), for some even 3080 would work almost the same, for other 4080 would likely to perform better.

  • After HODL-ing for years, I can now finally afford a used and abused GTX 1060. But I hear pascal cards were built different, so I hope to keep it for a few more years.

  • Thanks bought 4 to upgrade my mining rig

  • still waiting for 4080…

  • Why is this site charging $139 handling fee?? is it this heavy ?

  • FFS 🤣 Bargain

  • How many years warranty does Gainward have? Also, if there is ever a warranty issue, do we ship back to you or does it have to go directly to Gainward? Do they have a service center here in AU?

    • +1

Australia is not listed under 'where to buy'. Take from that what you will.
      https://www.gainward.com/main/wtb.php?lang=en

      • I don't remember buying a Gainward card here for years, that is why I asked.

Hopefully the rep can answer the question about warranty. I wouldn't want to spend this much without easy warranty access if there was ever an issue.

        • +1
          • No phone number on website
          • No response here
          • No deal
    • So I take it the TechFast rep isn't going to reply to this question about warranty?

  • I remember the good old days when video cards were affordable for those of us on lower incomes. The first 3d accelerator I purchased was a Voodoo 3d which had a passthrough adaptor because it didn't handle 2d. It cost about $250 from memory. Early Nvidia cards I paid around $300 for (midrange cards).

Every year I feel poorer and poorer.

As always though, $3000 for a graphics card is no hurdle for cashed up OzBargainers. Over 3,100 people have clicked through to the TechFast site.

    • +1

wow voodoo was not that cheap, I haven't seen any in real life as it was not affordable for us. had to use onboard SiS 5598 back then lol. I had collected money to get a used Geforce 4440MX as my first real graphics card and until then it was all onboard VGA cards. :(

      • +1

i remember scraping money and getting donated bad sectored 100MB HDDs to reuse…. damn. memories.

        • oh the colourful sector screen of "scandisk" deep analysis, it was like playing Russian roulette isn't it ? :D

          • @bazingaa: urgh. don't remind me of that.

the blinking cursor hovering just that ONE square for a longer time than most is the worst.

      • The genuine 3dfx Voodoo2 12mb was around $400-450 from memory, at least what I recall paying from Tech Pac (wholesaler). Not sure about the OG voodoo.

    • +1

Click through isn’t a purchase by any means

    • not sure if your memory is fuzzy, even back then, those cards are a flaky mess, and not many games support it. The 'value' of money differs a bit back then as well. i was on a trident vga card for the longest time, and skipped it straight to riva tnt2, even it is flaky for games.

as for 2nd point, we are poorer for it because raising costs of living, inflation and income stagnation, we are not just feeling it, we are living it. we might have higher income compared to ourselves previously, but if we compared to the same 'age group' back then, we would be raking it in.

    • I remeber some Nvidia cards were about $120 back in the day…. :)

      • i remember more than 2 graphic cards companies tho….

almost like competition made prices affordable.

  • +1

@luketechfast are our orders prioritized by submission?

    • Also @luketechfast have you exhausted allocation? I don't want to order for a March delivery.

  • Would anyone like to purchase my left arm?

  • Going to be interesting to see how many of these go to scalpers.

    • if they haven't learnt their lessons on the 3000s, I'm happy to let them learn it again. this time, i'd probably screen capture it into a glory page.

  • Everyone’s wrong about the complaint on price for the 4090! It’s not the price that’s the problem, it’s the exchange rate! $1500 for a 4090 in USD$ is an amazing deal! It’s the fact that the USD$ money printing and now interest rate increases that exported inflation to the AU price in the form of an artificially lower AUD$ exchange rate! It’s the penalty the world suffers from when everting is priced in USD! It’s great for Americas as they are on the printing spree of a lifetime now it’s into trillions a year, it’s like being the printer of BTC before it’s price approached $100,000 - free money machine!

    • Hate how the USA can just print money where we can't.

  • +1

Our hobby has become depressing over the past couple of years. I earn a decent middle to high range income and these prices are still insane. I bought a brand new 980ti at launch for $1000 AUD, and at the time, I still found that to be crazy expensive. This was before I had kids and a wife, and I had more disposable income.

Now, with the rising cost of living, I'm priced out. I am now going to stick to a 1k budget for a GPU, purely on principle. If that "only" gets me a xx60 series card, well then so be it. Paying those 3k prices tells Jacket man that we are a bunch of saps willing to pay anything he's offering up. Let's vote with our wallets lads.

    • +1

      1k GPU gang unite! :D

i'd pop over to AMD this time round as I don't game as much as i could before.

      • Amen brother

    • Hey matey me too! I've been with Nvidia top end since the 700 series. 780ti, 980ti, bought a lightly used Titan Xp for $1300 back then. I sold the titan because I thought Volta was just around the corner and then the dark times came with Turning and Ampere. I used to run SLI with the 780ti and 980ti series. Prior to the 700 I was with AMD.

A lot has changed since then: rent, mortgage, adult lifestyle and expenses. Just because I could "afford" one doesn't mean I can justify it. 3k on a GPU when I could put that money toward my mortgage, house or a holiday for the family :/ Priorities changed I guess, I earn closer to 3x what I did as a grad and yet I feel broke :( aha.

    • I'm probably between low and middle income, so I can't really afford this either. I paid 2K for an AMD 6900XT around June last year as I built a new gaming system, but couldn't get a graphics card for like 8 months, so I got frustrated having a PC ready to go, but no decent graphics card in it, and overpaid. I wish I didn't as I'm not sure what the 6900XT is worth if I were to sell it. I am guessing I've lost about $1200 on the resale value? Should have just stuck with the GTX 1070 I had and waited it out until now :(. I originally wanted an RTX 3080, but couldn't get one at the time for anything under $2500.

      • It would be in that ballpark yeah :( I've seen them sell for around $800-$1000 on the forums. You got good use out of it and you needed a card there's nothing wrong with that. If the new cards come out at reasonable MSRPs you could always sell and upgrade. In past years I've always suggested enthusiasts buy the 70 or 80 series and just sell it every cycle to fund the upgrade.
