    • I can imagine your frustration. Maybe call or chat with them and see if they would be happy to swap the numbers over for you so you can retain your number on the new phone :)

      • Gave Optus a call and I'm not very convinced of the answer. Was told I had to go in store for it, but when I reiterated that I was wanting to check if I could swap numbers between two plans they did say it was possible (again saying I had to do it in store). I might as well give it a shot and cancel the plan to at least get the cheaper phone. I'd then promptly swap to any other service because nothing is keeping me there.

        • Sounds weird that they would send you to the store to do it. Just make sure you get a proper confirmation that you'll be able to swap the number as that's the last thing you'd want to lose.

          • @gadgetfreak28: Yeah it makes me think they didn't quite understand what I was after and pushed it off to in store. I also tried the online chat a couple of times and got the same thing.

    • +1

I don't have any answers to this except to agree loyalty is dead. Most people I work with swap between Telstra and Optus every 12 or 24 months and get either port-in deals/discounts, or a far superior plan to what their current telco will provide.
No one will bat an eyelid if you offer to leave but they'll jump up and down to take you in to a new plan.
Same as internet and electricity retailers really

  • Just spent about an hour at a store with a staff member waiting on hold with Optus for more than 30 minutes only for them the be incapable of checking my IDs to sign me up? They told me they couldn't sell me the phone..

Just picked up the Pixel 7 Pro 256gb (Obsidian) from HN Liverpool after showing the manager the OzBargain post. Was asked to pay a $150 difference.

Will be cancelling the contract, making it $978 for the 256gb instead of $828 for the 128gb. I personally found this worth it as there isn't expandable storage and I'd rather be a bit more future-proof.

Manager mentioned I was the 3rd to show him the OzBargain post today. Snow is still in stock but the other two colours (Hazel & Obsidian) are running out.

    • i asked the guy to upgrade in Frankston, he said big No, can't do

    • I got the same thing today from a different store. Happy with the purchase.

  • Anyone know if Optus offers port in credit similar to Telstra? I usually hop on live chat to get the $10 port in credit from the JB Telstra deals.

  • +2

Scored the last 7 Pro (Hazel) from Springvale in Melbourne and from what I could tell, these were selling like hotcakes.

  • drove to Frankston HN , just to find out thay dont have phone in stock, and no signage or anything of , they are running this deal, i was telling the guy that you are running the deal through optus, then he checked on the computer and told him about $150GC , then he told me they dont have phone in stock, can order and have them by Friday.
fkin bullshit, 2 hours wasted for this

    • I just checked and looks like Hoppers Crossing is the only store that has any stock in Melbourne Metro. Maybe give them a buzz and see if they can put 1 aside for you if you're really keen to get it. Cheers.

  • Decided against buying Pixel phone this year after checking the battery drain test. Only a marginal improvement over the P6P it seems..

    • Was close to purchasing the pro using the hardly normal deal.

After reading a comprehensive XDA Developers article describing unusually high battery drain/power draw from the Pixel 7 Pro display, I've decided to wait it out with my Galaxy Note 9.

I hope that the issue can be resolved with software updates, yet can't help feeling that this is a hardware issue and will therefore not be fixed.

      • And you will pay double for it.

  • +1

Just picked this up with $150 GC and they added the case for $25. We had to wait 30mins on hold with Optus as the salesman couldn't register the plan online.

    • +1

I had to wait nearly an hour on hold at HN and then was told I'd have to go to an optus store, change my account type, then go back to harvey Norman. Argh…

      • The sales guy at HN told me to do that too, but told him to just create a new account and it worked.

        • I asked if that was possible and the employee said that it wouldn't work :/

  • +2

Go to HN Fountain gate. Dejay , he will happily give you pixel 7 pro and $150 HN GC. Mention my nick nam from screen will give you Case.

100 % confirmed with Optus..$828 charges and any pro rata plan monthly charges.

    • Did you cancel via chat or phone later that day?

      • +1

        cancel via chat !

        • How do you pay? You give them CC over chat? It seems dodgy!

I wanna pay with 3 different pre-paid credit cardS!

          • @[Deactivated]: Wait for invoice.
            Pay invoice.

            • @Whatisthatvelvet: Fair enough, I didn't realise they send you an invoice.

I spose you'll be able to call, and split payments.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: wait for invoice and you can pay with prepaid master card which save you another 7 % .

                • @Geejay: That's what I was planning

Hoping to get 3 x $250 cards, I don't want anything left over
So basically use 3 pre paid and the rest on my debit.

Will bring it to under $700, which for a brand new phone I think is amazing.

I'm coming from a pixel 2 XL which is still doing fine.

                  • @[Deactivated]: The only issue with using prepaid MasterCard is hopefully no one has hacked into your cards
I spoke to Optus and they said my invoice for the S22 will only come early Nov

                    • @BargainsGrabber: Damm, that long for an invoice? Why can't I pay on the phone straight away?
                      Lol

                  • @[Deactivated]: same here. i loved my pixel 2xl, only reason upgrading as camera stopped working.

Did you manage to get next or chromo cast??

S22 for $499 is also not bad option.

                    • @Geejay: I don't think those freebies are available, but my brother's mate works at HN. Maybe he'll be able to throw something in! Bahaha

Yeah, S22 is okay for $499 but I think the Pixel 7 Pro is much better even for $200 extra.

                • @Geejay: Sorry where do you get these prepaid mastercards ?

    • my at fountain gate HN, can't get my details verified through Optus, its been more than an hour, i don't think i will even get the phone.

      • Get it with new number.

        • that's what i am doin, and also using the same old compromised id.

      • @Harsh Deep So that was you. I wondered if it was a fellow OzBargainer.
I mean who else would be signing up for a 24 month contract for a Pixel on their own will. lol

        • +1

yeah, i was there from 4 to 5:30 , couldn't get phone, fkin optus

        • Anything to save an extra dollar, more effort but hopefully worthwhile in the end.. The JB deal was great for a newly release phone.

Imagine if Apple did such a thing for iPhones, people would be losing their shit and starting riots outside the store.

    • +1

@Geejay Thanks. Spoke to Djay today and he sorted me out. Wouldn't throw in the case for free but discounted to $35 from $50 which I paid for with the gift card, not bad.

Jumped on Optus Chat as soon as I got back to the car and cancelled right there and then for $828.

For anyone else considering, Hardly Normals Fountain Gate is low on Pixel 7 Pro stock now. I took the last Hazel model and there was only a couple of Obsidian left I was told.

  • Is there any way to access this for a 256gb phone? Do you need to go in store?

    • +2

They offered this to me for a $150 difference.

  • +1

If you have gone to harvey norman and signed up but haven't gotten your phone yet because it is on backorder. Is there any risk of not getting the phone from cancelling your contract straight away? The plan is already started so days are ticking on the plan already.

It seems reasonably safe to do because I will still have honored all the terms just wondering if anybody has some special insight.

    • I cancelled before I picked up the phone and there were no problems. I picked up phone today and even signed up again and got a second 256 phone because there was one left in stock, and was able to pay the $150 for the upgrade for the second one with the gift card from the first one.

  • What charger and screen protector are people getting for this phone? I bought a case already but struggling to find a good charging brick and a screen protector. Any ideas/suggestions guys?

    • Says currently unavailable but got some pretty early on 13/10. There may be some with a circle cut out instead of U shape, perhaps new batch coming. Have usually bought this brand, works well with case (pixel 7 not pro btw).

      • Thanks very much for sharing the insights. I have an old Oppo Find X2 Pro charger and a Samsung Flip charger that the wife uses. I'll see if they do PD charging. Cheers.

      • The screen protector you linked is for the normal pixel 7 not the pro. Might want to cancel that one

  • How resistant is the screen? Does it break easy?

    • Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus™ cover glass

Always worth putting a screen protector on, unless you're on of those people who walk around with a cracked iPhone screen.

      • I hate cracked screens. Saw their video of 2m fall and no crack but I usually drop the phones unintentionally of course but it's often.

Long ago had a Samsung with curved screen and dropped within a week, with a screen protector and still shattered; so changed phone so concerned that this is really strong.

  • Would anyone know when HN would be getting more stock? I would love to get this but all stores close by out of stock.

    • Call them and ask

    • We will be and stores can do back orders for this deal.

you can also get the 256gb and pay the difference.

      • Do you know what is the next deal after Pixel?

First Samsung, then Pixel, whats next?

    • Yeah just call and ask, if they have they can put one aside thats what they did for me today and I picked it up.

  • If anyone needs another around cancellation and price its $828 just did mine, when you sign up in store it might state $1600 something but it's not the case once you read the contract in detail.

  • Hi everyone,
Has anyone got any success to pay cancellation fee ($828) through coles MasterCard deal?
I'm confused that if Optus will accept the payment from 4 different cards or not.

      • Hi Fidelio
I'm getting a pixel 7 pro and the etc will be $978.
I want to pay it with Coles MasterCard offer.
        I'm buying 4 cards of $250.
So would I be able to pay that $978 etc online with 4x$250 cards?

        • Not sure, you can only try. At least you can use the card for other things.

    • What’s the coles Mastercard deal ?

    • If you can find the cards lol

      • I have the card but what’s the deal ???

        • Well 3 cards saves you $54, plus I got $30 in Flybuys bonus so it's an extra $84 off the pay out price.

          • @[Deactivated]: That sounds like a great deal. Is there a link to the offer ?
Can’t seem to find it when I google

            • @tychiang82: Get another 20$ off for giving the guy at HN a wristy :P

  • Done and cancelled. Harvey stuffed up and gave me the 256 gig model for no additional price, winning

    • Wow!!
      That's cool.
      Which store that was?
And did you pay etc with coles MasterCards?

    • +1

      Nice

    • +1

Nice, you get lucky sometimes due to staff error. I remember from a Sony discman for $239 instead of $329 once, haha.

  • I got the pixel 7 pro from the plan and cancelled on the same day (Monday). I've been waiting for the final bill but it doesn't say i have any charges? Do i have to wait for a certain period of time?

    • +1

They told me when i cancelled that I would get the bill mid November sometime

  • Has anybody cancelled in webchat? I tried yesterday and they told me I couldn't do it. or do you need to do it in the app?

    • +2

Looks like you can I just tried on my second phone and you need to push when they say they can't and you should call.

If anybody is interested in keeping the number and not cancelling they did say this in the cancellation webchat

"May I know whether there is something that I could do to make you stay?"
to which I said "could you discount the plan by $34.5 a month?"
      they said "no"
i asked "what can you offer?"
they said "I can help you with 10% discount for 12 months on your service."

So you could be saving $82.8 if keeping the plan is your jam

  • If anyone's looking to get a fast charger including a usb c cable shipped from Australia (free shipping to Melbourne too) then get this one. I just placed an order.
    https://zyrontech.com.au/products/zyron-minipod-30w-usb-c-na…

  • Will Pixel 2 charger work?

Is it easy to transfer phone to phone? Does it transfer everything? I'm worried about all my Chrome tabs!

I need a screen protector and cover too!

Covers make phone ugly, but I've never cracked a screen due to having both.

Once my phone went flying, and the screen protector cracked and went flying off!

  • Hi everyone.
    Sorry for reposting.
I'm getting a pixel 7 pro and the etc will be $978.
I want to pay it with Coles MasterCard offer.
    I'm buying 4 cards of $250.
So would I be able to pay that $978 etc online with 4x$250 cards?

    • How is your etc 978?

      • Pixel 7 pro 256gb.
        828+150=978

        • You pay the $150 diff to HN tho?

          • @tidie: Yes. $150 will be paid to HN and the ETC to Optus.

        • The $150 you can definitely use Coles Mastercard offer

    • No one here can tell you that. You'll need to call Optus and ask as they are the one handling the payment.

The phone itself is already a great deal, so I think it would be worth it to get the phone first and try it once they send you the bill.

      • You're right. I'll follow your suggestion.
        Thanks for that. Cheers

  • Does anyone know what happens if you have an issue with the phone down the track and require a refund? Since the "cost" of the phone is $0…

    • +2

The phone is basically $0/month for 24 months so there isn't any refunds applicable under this plan. When you cancel the plan, you're cancelling the commitment to be with Optus for the 24 month window paying the $69 each month.

      • So I'm assuming if there are issues with the phone later on it would be taken up with Harvey Norman? Or is there just no safety net?

        • +1

The phone would still be covered my the manufacturer i.e. Google and you can use the paperwork to prove the date you got the phone etc. If something goes wrong, the phone will be repaired by Google but I doubt they would provide you with any refunds. Something to watch out for before you take the plunge I reckon.

  • +2

HN gave me the 256GB model instead of the 128GB and called me 30 mins later asking if I'd return it to swap.

It'll cost me over an 1.5 hours of driving, plus the cost of fuel.

I think it's BS. I said I would try later this week, or next week.

Technically do I have too? I feel horrible, but it actually costs me money/time.

    • +4

1.5 hours of your time plus fuel is worth about $150 which is the price difference between the 2 models. I'd tell them I'm happy to swap if they get someone to your place for the swap otherwise no sorry bad luck HN.

      • +3

Ask for compensation for driving back and forth, like a free upgrade to 256gb model XD
