Ozito 2x18V Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher Kit $209 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Bunnings

113

This is listed on their website, so would suggest it's nationwide.

Note this is the "36v" model, taking two 18v batteries. I own the Blower and boy does it move some air.

The skin usually goes for $219, here it's $10 cheaper with 2x 4Ah batteries and twin rapid charger.

Seems to be plenty of stock around

Anyone has this? Is the vaccum function good? I have the jet blower and it's awesomw. Having said that the 2x4 batts itself is $99.

I had this but returned it cos the vacuum sucked (haha) and was useless. Also, my Ozito 18v blower was better than the blower on this.

      • Same, returned after 3min of use, get it mainly for the vacuum, too weak too heavy, blower is fine but I already have the lighter version of blower only that works just as good.

    • Thanks all. No deal then :)

    • Bought this a week ago

If you use turbo mode for vacuuming it works pretty well but drains the battery much faster (by default it’s meant to last an hour with the batteries included). There is a power dial but doesn’t do much. Otherwise you have to make direct contact and hover it directly over the object

I used it on a large unit complex and it worked fine, thankfully there’s a wheel attachment on the end as it gets a bit heavy. Doesn’t compare to a Dyson but once you get used to it it’s not that bad for wireless. Apparently cordless Ryobi is almost the same quality

I bought one when it was on sale for $99. I used it once. I find it is too heavy, and the suction is poor. However, I use the battery on other Ozito devices. 2 X 4. a battery itself is worth more than $99.

Had 2, first one was swapped under warranty as the captivated nut that screws onto the suction tube stripped out. The first one had poor suction but the second one has been noticeably better. As long as it isn't clogged up will suck leaves and sand no problem. Won't suck up nuts. Fairly heavy and a bit of a pain to switch from vacuum to blower. Paid 179 for mine last year, happy with it at that price and use about once a fortnightbut would think twice at 209…

I have the brushless version. It's noticeable lighter than this non-brushless model.

    • +3

"non brushless"? There is a word for that :-)

It may be, but it is cheaper than the RRP of all the items if bought separately in the kit. Im gonna presume this kit is apart of their seasonal buys and is only available for a short time in which it may never come back.

Bought a year or so ago and as others have said its quite heavy and cumbersome to use. Switching between the modes is a pain, and the suction isnt that great. Rarely use it in blower mode though.

That being said, I make use of the batteries in other tools.

  • This is junk imo, the vacuum can't suck anything heavier than small leaves and even then it's slow and cumbersome.

The kit is heavy and because it's so slow the batteries don't last long.

Use a rake and get fit whilst simultaneously saving $210.

    • Isnt it a good thing it cant suck heavier stuff? Like mulch, stones etc

  • This kit always gets poor reviews, but has anyone used the dedicated unit below?

I've been waiting over a year for the brushless to come on sale, but it never does i think it is a lot more powerful.

      • +1

Brushless motors aren't any better than a well designed brushed motor.

Also, $210 for a solution that doesn't work as well as something that doesn't use electricity.

        • +1

Other things being equal, brushless is a bit more efficient, so longer battery life. In practice, they may be more powerful than the brushed tool.

But I'm holding out for tools with synchronous PM induction motors :-)

      • Yeah ditto. Getting tired of waiting.

yeah ive been using the brushless blower vac for 2 years now - its really good
got it when it was on promo with 2x3amp batteries

mainly use it for multiple gumtrees on our property. handles the leaves and gumnuts really well (if youve never had gumtrees be thankful, they drop so much crap)
blower is good. vac works well but i need to raise the unit vertical to push stuff through the impeller sometimes.

3 amp batteries get used up quite quickly. maybe 30min total worktime

      • Great info, thx!

I have 2 of the brushless. Bought the 2nd extra cheap a few years ago. Realised in the process how much the suction had deteriorated in my original one. The problem is they have a plastic impeller, which is exposed to the material sucked up the vac and wears over time. Another issue is the vacuum bag wearing near where the bag's opening attaches to the vac. I've had several wear in the same location - and have trouble at times sourcing replacement at my local Bunnings (currently out of stock). It appears to be a design issue. Dust build up in the bag makes it less porous making it harder for air to escape, increasing bag pressure until it finds a weak spot and a hole opens up. So best thing to do is to either minimise the dust/dirt you suck up and/or periodically give the bag a good clean (I turn mine inside out, flush out with water and hang it up to dry). Keeping the bag cleanish will help with suction as well.

Other than this, I find it does a good job for what I need it for (lots of bougainvillea leaves, dog hair and clean up after mowing/edging).

  • I don't know much about outdoor vacs…. Are they able to suck sand off a sandy driveway/garage?

I got makita dub363zv and it vacuums dust, leaves, and twiggs. Just a bit heavy and cumbersome to change blower and vacuum. I just use it for vacuum as i use ryobi for blower.

  • I'm pretty sure I paid $179 for this kit earlier this year - I use it to collect the leaves from the tree on my nature strip which makes a huge mess of my yard every autumn. Worked fine for that…. I haven't bothered with the blower mode though because I already have the ozito cordless blower.

This is RRP. The $219 skin is a different unit that doesn't need to swap tubes around .

I bought the posted unit a few years back when it was like $180 and returned it cause the vacuum was hopeless, saw it on clearance recently for $150 with 2x4AH batteries and still passed it up because this unit itself is so bad and that's overs for batteries.

Here's a better option, it doesn't require ongoing cost (electricity) and actually works, it doesn't mulch (but neither does the Ozito because it can't pick up anything anyway).

The only downside of the Gardena catching type products is the inability to use them on steep hills, if you're area is hilly, a vaccum is actually the better option, but you'll need a much more powerful solution than the Ozito toy.

Ozito do have a 2400w mains powered option that does work better and it's $50 and you don't have to fool around with battery charging and storage etc.

    • I've got the 240v Ozito and a 30m cord. It's pretty good. Heavy, but that's what the wheels are for right? Mulches OK too. Leaves, grass, twigs. I abuse it but it keeps going. It's the second one I've had. The dog chewed the cord on the first one but I was happy enough with it to buy another one.

      • I've got one too, not too bad for very light objects, leaves. I paid under $50 when they were on special and used a card (power pass?) to further discount it.

I use it for areas the manual catcher won't be able to such as steep inclines etc.

You're right, it is a decent unit for $50, even the rrp of $60 and is useful for uneven surfaces, the downsides are it costs significantly more than the initial $60 over time to run and is very cumbersome if you have to lift it off the wheels.
Not a problem if you live in the burbs and have flat land and small areas within 50m of power.

  • This is the standard price

Anyone had issues with Ozito batteries being replaced? I went to my local (Keperra QLD) green shed with a 4aH battery that was leaking. The Nobel laureates behind the counter there tried to tell me the warranty on the other items in the kit it came with are "void" if I claim the replacement battery, as on their end, it deletes the original purchase item off the receipt, which supposedly invalidates it. I pointed out the obvious & glaring contradictions of ACL that they had just made and eventually they relented and provided the replacement free / manually in exchange for my licence details.

    • -1

      lol, nice work.

    • Leaking? is that even possible? Pretty sure they dont have anything in them that's able to leak.

    • I've had similar. If you have a faulty part, they want you to return the whole kit, even if they part is sold separately.

      • That's so stupid, because often the kit isn't in stock, and there's nothing wrong with the other battery, charger & actual tool. I'll keep staunching them with ACL violation chat.
