  • What is the actual battery life like in daily usage ? (NOT the up to 16 hours as claimed by Intel).

    • +2

The previous model lasted for nearly 11hrs of Youtube playback, considering the Alder lake upgrade with no change in battery capacity you're probably looking at 8-9hrs of usage.

    • This one is touchscreen

    • I rarely get involved in “this is better” stuff. But 165hz screen + RTX3060 dedicated gpu. + QHD. The X15 is better.

It really depends on what it will be used for. A dedicated GPU and 165Hz screen would be fantastic for gaming and content creation but won't help productivity apps, programming, web browsing, etc. The 12th gen CPU would be better for that.

        • Also correct. Guess it depends what you’re doing with it. The other is also 8 core? Both are good. Dedicated GPU better for video editing, graphics processing etc

    • Kraken M15 is much better value as the RTX is important for mobile workstation/rendering

Would not pay $1.5K for a 12th gen NUC when the same money buys a Lenovo or Dell with the Ryzen 6000 series and the vastly better RDNA2 iGPU

You won't get the nice solid aluminium build of the NUC though.

        • Yep! We have a bunch of the 11th gen M15s. They are really well made! We'll get the 12th gen models as well.

      • A RTX model will be much heavier. Also note this is a 16G + 1TB model. If you get a RTX with 16GB + 1TB and with similar build quality, its likely to cost at least 2.3K.

For some reason manufacturer is stingy on the SSD and charge an arm and leg for having a 1TB SSD when the devise itself is so cheap….

  • Ram czn be upgraded to 32gb?

    • No

  • "NUC"

    • Not Unique Computers

  • 11th vs 12th which one is better?

11th has long battery life than 12th
12th is better performance than 11th.

    12th is $400 expensiver than 11th.

HODL until youtubers uploaded 12th gen reviews.

The ram is ddr5 vs ddr4 and the other main difference is double the hard drive 1 tb vs 512gb.

      • Yes, right. Ram and SSD are covering $400 gap.

        5% is $88.
        I don't have ebay GC now…

  • I need help. I’m now fatigued looking for a gaming laptop around the $1000 up mark for my daughter. Lucky girl I know.

    • There are a few clearance items around and it doesn’t have to be the latest or greatest. Just decent

    • There's a bunch on the Dell Outlet.

  • Does this come with an operating system?

    • +1

Yes, it comes with Windows 11 Home.

  • Thank you. I’ll have a look.

  • Thanks ops. Bought one. Need one asap for my next travel

  • +1

i don't get why so many 15' laptops don't have a numeric keyboard
