Note A12Z model won't support many of the new features in the to-be-released iPad OS 16, especially external display-related features.

Came here to say this. I went looking for cheap M1 iPad Pro 11 after the M2 annoucement but there weren't any

    • So these aren't m chip ipads?

      • They’re the generation before m1

  • Looks like only the 128gb is available. The rest are OOS

  • can anyone share their experience with refurbs? do they put a new battery in?

    • the page says "A new battery and outer shell"

    • +2

I've bought refurb stuff before and its basically no different to buying new ie. there is still risk you get a lemon

      • -6

The difference is that someone else used the product before. And that person may possibly be disgusting.

        • +9

I've done some things I'm not proud of… and the things I am proud of, are disgusting.

        • +2

Apple replaces the entire outer casing so you don't have to worry about that.

    • +3

refurbs are like new. Same warranty.

      • -5

        refurbs are like new.

        unless you get a lemon.

        • +5

How’s that different to if you get a new one that’s a lemon? Also wouldn’t refurb have been tested beforehand, so less likely to be a lemon?

          • -1

@ChadHominem: I would have thought new ones get tested too…

            • @jv: New ones get tested in CHYNA.. refurbs i think get tested at other places maybe ..

  • 512GB in silver still available as of now. Good price perhaps?

  • -1

How much is it normally for this model refurb?

    • This was previously priced at $919 if I recall correctly. I'm waiting for the 3rd gen (aka 1st gen M1 ipad pro) to hit the refurb shop. Should be around high $900 I reckon.

  • +3

Not much more for the M1 Air (if storage isn't a concern)

    • The M1 Air has gone up to $999, so it's an extra $220 and you lose Promotion, FaceID, and back down to 64GB storage. Fair bit to give up to get the M1.

      • +3

So what your saying is its a demotion.

        I shall see myself out.

        • Ha yes.

  • +4

Hi OP, where can we get 10% off Apple gift cards ?

    • also wondering

    • +2

You got to search mate https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/apple-gift-card
It's been several rounds by now.

      • So nothing for the last couple of months.

Is the couple of percent cashback the next best option?

        • Oops… just realised that's already a few months from then. Feels like yesterday.
I believe below is right, 20x point or 10% off from WW/Coles will back sometime.

    • Amex just pushed 3 or 4 10% cashback deals to most cardholders.

Other than that you will have to wait for 20x rewards at WW/Coles.

  • Wouldn't a M1 iPad Air be much better than this ?

    • +4

No high refresh screen, more expensive, no Face ID

      • But also no stage manager in extended desktop mode on A12Z iPad Pro

    • +1

Pro has 120hz screen and better speakers

  • +6

Doesn't seem great value now, would be better off waiting for the deals on an iPad Pro 3rd gen with M1.

  • +10

For a minute there, thought this was the M1. Wouldnt go with this. At this price M1 or bust especially when refurbished.

  • +3

Was hoping to grab a 10th gen for casual use but the price increase is insane. I expected it to be $599 max. What a shame.

    • +1

Me too - needed another for the kids so I ended up grabbing the refurbished iPad Air Gen 4 from Apple for $709 as it's cheaper than the new iPad. Has the better screen and gen 2 pencil support too.

    • How do these compare to (value for money benchmark) $720ish beg'22 for Acer Nitro 5 15.6" i5-11300H/8/512gb SSD/GTX1650 4gb Gaming Laptop ($35 extra 8gb ram, 2tb M.2, extra SSD?
      I'm reluctant to spend 2x more for <<2x functionality (upgadeability/connectors/screen size/2 attached 4K sceens/unlimited Win apps…).
The only thing missing is USB-C charging :)

I know, different purpose, but then my Note 10+ can connect to the same 4K monitor & >1TB Samsung T7 for windows like functionality & with S-pen I have best of both worlds. Just curious what's the opportunity cost (of spending the saved money for other experiences).

      • different purpose

        This.

        This device would

        • Superior app support for tablet focused apps for content creation, photo editing, etc. Android sadly doesn't have as much.
        • Much better screen - colour, brightness
        • Compact compared to the laptop
        • Bigger portable screen compared to a phone
        • Support for the Apple pencil and more importantly, more apps which support the pencil experience

You're missing out on connectivity to a monitor which requires an M1 chip and a limited experience with an external monitor, though, DEX is also limited(yes, I have used it).

  • I thought iPad Pro 11 brand new is plenty on Amazon?

I put down my order for the 256gb 11” wifi banger for $1025 just couple of weeks ago, still showing up as pending for delivery date.

The 128gb silver was back for 1099 just a few days ago but seems like it’s out of stock again.

And the Logitech combo touch for 11 pro is down to 179 now.

What I really need is the 2nd gen pencil but it never come down in price.

    • Able to share a receipt by any chance for 256gb M1 ipad pro 11" at $1025 ?

  • Aren’t these more than five years old?

    *says nearly 2.5.

    • These 2nd Gen released March 2020

  • so wifi only does not have satt gps, for that you need the 4G cellular version alas and the A12z is getting a bit long in the legs but yeah, not bad for couch surfing

  • I belive there is ram difference between storage

    • Not this gen, they all have 6gb of RAM.

  • +1

Anyone know how long the iPad Pro will remain supported and recieve ios updates?
Was thinking of getting this rather than the new Ipad 10th Gen

    • Same. Was going to get the kids a new iPad but is it better getting them this for $30 more? Double the storage size too.

    • +1

The chip in this iPad Pro was released in 2018 (the A12Z is an A12X with the previously disabled GPU core enabled).

The 2014 iPad Air 2 was supported for 8 years, so given the A12X/Z is 4 years old, another 4 years of support is a good guess I think.

  • i may keep my ipad pro 2018 for another year or two. the new ipad pro m2 has nothing truely special. i thought they might upgrade the screen.

  • +3

Don't think it's a great deal. This is roughly the price of the Good Guys deal about a year ago for a new A12Z iPad Pro 11. A year on, and refurb, atleast M1 in this price range.

    • Patiently wait for a Good guys deal on M1 here.

    • True. I bought this A12Z 2020 iPad Pro 11” 256GB for $888 from School locker about a year ago.

  • +1

For casual web browsing and document editing, do you feel the difference between this and the M1 iPads?

    • No, M1 is an overkill on iPad os

  • I have the m1 version, its pretty good

  • +1

would refurbished products also have the ACL 2nd year warranty typically found with apple products?

  • +1

I use this model of iPad. I have the 512gb + Cellular model. I use it mainly for writing notes using the Apple pencil during uni classes, and importing photos from my camera and editing them in Lightroom, on the go, when I'm not at home. It works a treat for these tasks, I've also downloaded netflix shows in the past for watching them on the plane and it's got an amazing screen for that. I paid around $1600 early this year for my iPad from the 20% off allphones ebay deal, I thought about getting the m1, but the costs ratio wasn't worth it, as I'd be using it predominantly to write notes in class, and the air does not have the 120hz screen, so writing on it isn't as fluid. Overall great iPad for my use case scenario, I don't have any intention of using it as a desktop as I have a macbook already.

    • Yep,
I have a MacBook and just bought this for on the side note taking and light tasks such as watching YouTube etc.

Space grey 256 and Silver 512 back in stock.

  • OOS

  • Got mine last week and it’s literally like a brand new device.
Very good device for the price and much better value than an iPad 10th gen
Has stage manager as well which is a very pleasant suprise for me as I thought it was limited to M1 ipads
