YouTube Premium Monthly: Single INR ₹129 (~A$2.49), Family INR ₹189 (~A$3.64) + More @ YouTube India (VPN Required)

Update - While individual (single) plans should work for most credit/debit cards, family plan sign-ups will fail for 99% of you. If this the case, the only other option may be Youtube Premium Family via Turkey

I just made it work guys - USE EXPRESSVPN and connect to India VIA SINGAPORE

Notes

  • Most VPN services have removed Indian servers due to new laws in India

  • Use ExpressVPN and connect to India via Singapore. Sign up and use the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee to get a refund

  • I can sign up for individual (all cards work, payment due sometime next month) but family sub gives me errors on all cards. Trying to find an way to fix this

  • If payment fails, try creating an Indian payment profile. You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the India profile.

    Used the free Urban VPN

Ok found another workaround if your card is declined. I was trying to pay with a 28 Degrees card using an Indian address and paying in Rupees. That got declined (also with a Revolut card). I finally selected A$ and it worked with the 28 Degrees.

    12 months A$26.80 = A$2.23 per month

    • No sure what you mean by "I finally selected A$ and it worked", I've seen no option to select A$?

      • When I told it which card I was paying with, it then gives the option of paying with A$ or Rupees. That may only be for cards which give a choice.

    • omg it is so slow with Urban VPN, how long did you have to wait for the webpage to load?

      • It was fine

    • Can concur. I also managed to get a third party payment processor called Razorpay or something, was able to select AUD. (CBA Mastercard Credit)

  • Couldnt get indian location to work using Private Internet Access so signed up using Argentina at $4/mth. Still 1/3rd of what i was paying $12/mth.

I am connected to India via CyberGhost VPN ; how ever my location auto set's to Indonesia. Even after manual change of location within Youtube; I am only getting offered in IDR currency. Anyone else having similar issues and/or have a workout suggestion for me? Thank you!

NewPipe on android = no ads, one click video downloads, background videos
Ublock Origin on desktop browsers = no ads

  • Just a note, tried doing this and some banks have stopped processing credit cards in India so tried a couple and had to go back to Argentina.

Another reason why this "deal" deserves a downvote. But try downvoting and here comes a swarm of morons to turn that downvote upside down. The system is broken when idiots in numbers can change the valid votes of others.

  • Thanks Op. Just signed up to the annual plan even though my Argentina plan have not expired. 28 degrees MC did not work but CBA diamonds awards did.

My 28 Degrees worked when I payed with A$

The lack of family plan yearly is the real kicker

  • looking to join family, msg me pls

I had an Indian YouTube Premium account for a few years, but was recently not accepting my preferred payment method. No amount of VPNs or card changes would allow it to accept my payments.

I've since changed to Argentina and it's been smooth sailing. Just a heads up that YouTube/Google might be cracking down on this stuff.

    • +1

When I switched from India to Argentina (due to a new credit card) it was a real pain. Eventually sorted by:

      • deleting all payment profiles associated with google
      • making sure all connected accounts had payment profiles deleted
      • making sure to clear cookies etc when you are done with previous actions, i.e. before commencing new profiles/plans
      • obviously using the right VPN (tunnelbear wouldn't do India from memory)
      • having a digital bank card to use rather than a big4 bank ('Up' ended up working, I tried Wise but it didn't work for me).

Took a number of goes but eventually gort it working. Being a family account it is a bit more annoying to make sure each connected account works correctly.

      • I can't get the family plan to work using 'Up' either

      • +1

That's unfortunate that it was so difficult for you! I'm sorry to hear.

I basically didn't do anything that you've rightly suggested 🤣 ANZ debit card, didn't clear cookies, VPNUnlimited straight from India to Argentina, and kept the same payment profile and all the profiles on the family account lol. I was too busy trying to get back to watching YouTube that I didn't care to think of the consequences.

This will be an interesting case study to see what happens to you (studious and careful) and me (brash and thoughtless).

    • When did it start to fail? My last payment was Oct 4 and it went through

      • I changed over in September. It wouldn't accept any payment.

I think you'll be fine until they tap you on the shoulder and show you the door.

    • I would not be surprised if google are keeping tabs of accounts that cancel subscriptions and purchase subscriptions in another country in a short timeframe.
      Easy to identify anomaly.

      • I'm worried that might be the case, but if that happens, I've already earned a year or so of YouTube Premium through Aus by savings so far alone.

I just switched to India from Argentina. I prepaid a year in advance, $25. Bankwest card wouldn't work, Up Bank did.

  • +4

It would be pretty rich for Google to ban anyone for these workarounds considering all the money gets payed to their tax haven in Ireland.

  • Trying to purchase a family membership for INR 189.00 using ExpressVPN. But when adding the Payment method, I get an error with the payment :(

Have you not seen the news? Prices are increasing from ARS 179.00/month to ARS 699.00/month, which is $7.29 AUD

NZ been hit with a fair hike aswell.

  • Happy I went with India years back. When I got the price increase email I thought someone snitched but turns out it's just for the overall increase!

I’ve been in hilton hotel in Mumbai since 2019.

  • Seems I've been stationed in Vladivostok since 2018. Wonder if my fellow comrades are also getting hit with this increase.

  • Does this work if I cancel my current and resubscribe?

  • Does it allow you to pay 12 months in advance? like…look in the price or does it just charge you every month?

    • there’s a 1 year prepaid, see table in OP

    • yes, I paid for a couple years in advance

  • Does this work if I cancel my current and resubscribe?

    • definitely! it will charge you after the current period ends

  • Been on this one for years, but now with all this new influx of users, i am sure we can expect a price increase soon too.

  • -1

Does it only work with express VPN. I have PIA atm.

    • PIA shows in Indonesia not India for some reason. I switched to express vpn then had no problem.

  • Successfully cancelled my argentina, and opted for an upfront year on india. Initially wasn't working with my card, but stepped back and went back into the payment method screen and it opened up a third party payment site where I could select AUD. Succesfully got a year locked and loaded after this month of argentina expires

  • So what cards ARE successfully working? I've been on the Indian family plan for years, using an American Express card - which expires in two months. Now I'm worried it won't accept the replacement card :(

  • If someone could put together a guide on how to "migrate" from Argentina to India that would be grand!

  • Can family membership be paid annually? Mines currently billed monthly but I can't see any option to change

    • No, it is clearly written on youtube premiums website.

  • what CC did you use? 28 Degrees is no go - keeps asking for a 3 numbers on the back

    • Commbank Mastercard, but only works for individual plan

  • -1

I know the OP used ExpressVPN but does Surfshark work? Dont wanna get a new VPN if i dont have to. Thanks in advance

  • So I’ve previously used PIA set to India but now, when I try and swap from ARS, YouTube thinks I’m in Indonesia. Yet IP address shows it’s in Mumbai. Any suggestions?

    • Incognito tab

      • Yeah private tab on safari.

        • PIA shows Indonesia prices for me, even in private mode or incognito. I used ExpessVPN then after it worked.

Even Cyberghost has it in IND

  • +1

I gave up with India YT not accepting Aus credit cards and just went with Turkey YT.

For a family plan, this was the second cheapest and only $1.5 AUD more per month at around $5.15 AUD.

    • This is what I did too… Left Argentina and went to Turkiye :-)

    • wait so, india didn’t accept your card but turkey did???

also do you have any spots for me to join? thanks

      • Correct, india refused all my card (so rude of them :p), Turkey did not.
This is because of the RBI regulation imposed by the Indian gov to the back wrt recurring charges.
So, unless you have a CC issued by an indian back, I think you would be out of luck in my understanding.
Unfortunately I dont have any free spot, I shared mine with bro, sis and cousins

        • That's so strange that it works for individual but not family plans

  • So for all those migrating to India from Argentina, what guarantee is there that India wont be leveled with similar or higher price increases Will wait and see what transpires over the coming weeks.

  • I've used Youtube Premium India for years but it won't process my payment this month :( tried different cards and they won't accept it.

    • U try Ubank?

  • +1

I've been on the India deal since the last time it was posted. Couldn't be stuffed swapping to Turkey or Uzbekistan or wherever when they became a bit cheaper. Good to see I'm back on the cheap side of things.

  • If you want to just skip the ad, why not use Brave Browser? Available on both IOS and Android, no jailbreak required..

    • Before asking this….read the thread and has been answered more thank once.

      • I swear I didn’t see any mention on brave, but apparently there’s one on page 2..

I just want to help people out of the hassle of subscribing to premium if all they want is just the ad-free experience..

    • Can you listen with screen off?
Another browser would be a pain.

  • I'm doing this through Argentina and they have more than doubled the price. Is there an easy way to swap to India?

  • Can't figure out why this wont work for me…

Have been on ARG YTP for a couple years, can't get any of my cards to work for India or Turkey.

Have tried 28 degrees, Citibank and Commonwealth.

Have been using Incognito chrome too

    • Try this, just a copy/edit of my post on the Turkish post:

I had similar issues with various cards being declined in the past and I used this work around:

Set up an Indian payment profile here -https://pay.google.com/ for the Google account you are using prior to trying to sign up for YT Premium.

One this is setup then proceed to the signup page and it will automatically use your Indian payment profile info to complete the transaction (you may need to enter card CVC for re-verification).

Did this work for you @allegiance86?

  • My HSBC global debit card no longer work with Ondia YouTube premium, and Revolut didn’t work too

However, found that Citibank debit Mastercard works

  • Hello, my 28 Degrees card is saying declined. Have tried the Buy button over 30 times (instruction in step 5 says keep clicking buy) with no change in outcome.

I have tried changing my Google Profile to Indian as well as per post just above this one.

    Any suggestions?

Saw someone had an option to choose AUD but I don't get that option with my 28 Degrees, Macquarie or ING cards (all declined).

    • Saw someone had an option to choose AUD

That’s most likely Individual Plan, not the Family Plan.

May I ask were you signing up for Individual or Family?

    • Using the individual plan I had the same issue (with Citibank card). I had to choose to pay with AUD and this option also only worked on my mobile not my PC.

  • I'm with Commbank and it won't accept my card :(

    • i am with CBA and it worked perfectly. Did you follow the instructions?

      • Yep I did, switched to Turkey and that worked for me.
