YouTube Premium Monthly: Single INR ₹129 (~A$2.49), Family INR ₹189 (~A$3.64) + More @ YouTube India (VPN Required)

5300

Update - While individual (single) plans should work for most credit/debit cards, family plan sign-ups will fail for 99% of you. If this the case, the only other option may be Youtube Premium Family via Turkey

I just made it work guys - USE EXPRESSVPN and connect to India VIA SINGAPORE

Google is increasing the prices for Youtube Premium in several countries worldwide, including USA, UK, Canada, Argentina, Turkey, Japan etc. This means Argentina is no longer the cheapest and most OzBargainers will be migrating from Argentina to… India - Happy Diwali

For price references, Youtube Premium via Australia is $14.99/mth for individual plans & $22.99/mth for family plans

Notes

  • Most VPN services have removed Indian servers due to new laws in India

  • Use ExpressVPN and connect to India via Singapore. Sign up and use the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee to get a refund

  • I can sign up for individual (all cards work, payment due sometime next month) but family sub gives me errors on all cards. Trying to find an way to fix this

  • If payment fails, try creating an Indian payment profile. You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the India profile.

  • Hi I tried Vpn via Singapore but it showing my location Romania. I have changed the location from Romania to India but didn't work. I tried in incognito mode and Vpn on. Any suggestions

    • Try another VPN

  • I was on a Single INR plan for a couple of years no worries using ING everyday account.

Payments started failing a month or two ago, but manual intervention worked until this week.

Have packed our bags and Family now holidaying in TRY 🏖🎶📹

Thanks for both posts OP @I Smell Pennies

  • Been using this for a while now but unfrortunatly, lost my walet and all cards in it.

I am attempting to update my payment method under my indian payment profile and I am at the stage where it needs my CVV number to verify it with the reserve bank of India. in the past this worked no worries but now all my mastercards wont work. Pop up window opens and then closes again and I am still stuck on the "verify" page. Attempted on phone and PC and same thing. Anyone else had issues updating payment methods? My sub will end in Jan at this stage.

    • Everyone has, that’s why we moved to Turkey.

  • I purchased annual india youtube premium membership. For a month or so it worked fine until today i suddenly started to see ads and no background play. Immediately i feared email from google about by dodgy behaviour but nothing so far. When i check my memberships page. It still says i am subscribed for a year but says " thanks for being music premium member ". Has anyone else got the same issue?

Anyone have youtube premium paying INR and want to upgrade to family and cant find the option to upgrade?

  • Google won't allow me to update my card payment detail with the new card expiry date. Does anyone else have this problem or have a solution for it?

    • +1

Yeah, tried few cards, same issue. Anyone has solution?

      • I even tried it with VPN to India on and it still won't accept the updated card details.
Also contacted Google support but they seem pretty useless.

    • I had same problem. After getting new card, I cannot change expiry so I had to cancel it. Finally, I had to buy Yearly single subscription for ~22AUD. We are 3 family members so it is around ~5 AUD. Still cheaper than AUD version.

  • Did anyone manage to pay with AU card for India YouTube Premium Family?

  • Anyone have youtube premium paying INR and want to upgrade to family and cant find the option to upgrade?

  • Mine declined with two citi cards. Ended up going Turkish route

  • I received a notification about my payment method doesn't work and I need to verify CCV - I did it but never passed. Looks like it's time to say goodbye

  • looks like we had a good run. time to pack my bags and move from India to Turkey

  • Its showing me aud even though i connected through vpn. Any idea how to resolve it ?

  • I was with Argentina premium last 1 year. Just got a message said my payment was declined. Then I can't add my card anymore…

Dunno if this is a new check that YouTube recently implemented.

    • This just happened to me yesterday, came on to see if others had experienced the same issue

      • So from the Turkey post, figured out that it’s issue with Visa card requiring local bank issuers. Switching to Mastercard will solve the issue … until Mastercard do a similar thing.

Anyway I initially cancelled my membership because I could not figure out the issue. So I have to sign up vpn to reactivate the membership again which was annoying. Anyway just try Mastercard first.

        • Bugger, i only a have visa

          • @Ebany: I had the same issue and if you do it on your PC instead of your phone it works. I couldn't use my current Visa card when I tried to renew on my phone, it was locked out. But tried on my pc and it worked! I used chrome with nord vpn extension (there's a 30day trial). Just make sure you cancel your subscription first, then renew it. • I'm trying to sign up to Amazon prime video India. Same issue. Master card doesn't Work either. Any suggestions?

  • +1

my card expired and now I can't update … even though my VPN location says India prices either show up in euros or AUD…

    • +3

      Do Turkey instead

have had family youtube premium in india for years. since my amex expired and I had to change card, same song and dance every month when payment is due. Multiple emails from google about payment failed, act now etc, etc, only bothered to try and fix it once my youtube app stops playing in the background or carplay stops working. same song and dance trying to manually pay and input cvv 50 different ways until randomly, it works, the payment goes through, and i have this experience to look forward to in another 30 days time.

  • I am getting a blank (white) page when I try to sign up for YouTube Premium via Indian VPN. I did move from Argentina.

Family Plan via India VPN is not working
    https://www.youtube.com/premium/family/offers?

    Edit 1:
Managed to find an unblocked link for the Individual Membership
    https://www.youtube.com/premium/offers

I went through the the above link to by pass the blank screen and and was able to sign up for the individual for INR 129 plan. The link for the family plan is not working. My local Indian card has been charged INR 129

    • Although I subscribed for the individual INR 129 plans I am still getting ads and it shows my old Argentina plan as expired and the renew link takes me to YouTube India but I am unable to subscribe.
