AMD Ryzen 5 5600 CPU + MSI B550M PRO Bundle $307 + Delivery + Surcharge @ Shopping Express

820

Yes another Amd deal… Inspired by all the AMD deals for the Ryzen 5 5600 CPU and the need for new desktop parts, I went with the above and found this to be $7 cheaper than last time this deal was on.

1% surcharge and my delivery with 32gb ram and thermal paste came to under $12.

Hope someone finds this useful. Good luck!

That’s a whole large coffee where I come from.

Just think of all the extra bargain posts you can scroll through and buy when you’re amped up on caffeine!

        It’s a strategic saving

Bought it for 340 a while back, still haven't opened either box.

      Why not

Maybe he has the principle of buy now think about it later?

Had the intention of building my mum a overkill PC for her Chrome tabs. Still want to do it, just haven't come around to it yet.

  • msi quality - my mobo died x570 waste of money future proofing

      Warranty?

      • +1

        died 2 yrs after.

        • +1

ACCC would say it should have lasted longer than that. You could chase it up if you wanted. Can you be bothered though, that is the question…

          • @Oofy Doofy: MSI Australia support anything over 2 years is out of warranty and require $90 non refundable inspection fee, and whatever it costs to repair the board.

            • @vchoy: that has no bearing on ACCC laws. You could probably get it sorted.

  • What Ram did you get?

  • +7

I mean, the combo is $1 less than individual components? $109 for mobo, $199 for CPU.

    • Yep buy them separately if you like… I needed both and shipping was cheap

    • I was close to buying this, but on further investigation and if that's all you save then it's not a deal for me as Shopping Express does not have a good reputation. Would much prefer to deal with a shop that I can walk into, especially for warranty returns, and pay a little extra.

      • I thought they were good

They had a rep here too at some point iirc or was that on reddit…

  • What do you need the thermal paste for ?

    • +2

      huh?

    • +8

It’s to put it on your chips, with a pinch of salt

    • +3

      it's lube for turbowanking.

    • +2

It goes between the CPU and heat sink…. Well, last time I built a machine you needed it

      • Its ozbargain, We do sarcasm here

      • yeah ok, I deserved that.

I Should have been more clear, the 5600 comes with a heatsink that has thermal paste already applied right ?

        • I did not know that…. I suppose I'll see when it gets here

Jesus why do all the good deals have to come out now :(

      What's wrong with now

      • I bought a $674 bundle haha

    Legendary combination of AM4

  • How it compares to i5 12th gen?

    • I think 12500 would be little better

      • +1

Probably, but I'm seeing that at $300 by itself… So $100 better?

        • I don't think it's $100 better, comparing the two in this vid from Gamers Nexus it seems they're generally pretty close, with one or the other pulling ahead in specific tests.

  • Good price but I also haven’t had good luck with MSI boards from SE. Even my 1700X was rubbish but that could have been first gen Ryzen issues

    • I think there is a fix on bios for some 1st/2nd gen CPU issues, worth a try also look up the change log and apply that version of update only.

  • Do you think they ensure that the mainboard has the correct bios that works with the 5600 CPU?

Seems to be always the hassle if want to go AMD from a older intel platform. If you dont have a 450 or 550 mainboard and old ryzen to use flash before you get a the new cpu the worry is it wont post and your in limbo.

    • At this stage I think there are very few if any new boards with pre-5000 bios. Since like mid last year it's been pretty uncommon to find them. You can usually reach out to the seller and ask as well to be sure.

    Looks like a scummy mobo

  • Maybe about a $20-$30 save, it's alright. Will prices drop anytime soon for mobos? I assume cpus will slowly come down

  • I’m seeing a price of $337?

    • Snooze you lose… The CPU has gone up to $219… But the Mobo is still down

      • +1

Guess I'll cop the 5700X deal.. life is tough

  • 12400f is 10% better than 5600

  • I’ve got mine and it won’t start up… getting cpu light on ez debug led

  • Bought this combo 2 weeks ago when they had the 10% off weekend, put it together last night and running well.
My only regret is only remembering last night why I never got a m-atx board for over 20yrs…with a chunky gpu like 3080 there's no room for the case cabling, they're stuck right next to the gpu especially the usb3 cable which I took out just in case it crept back and hit the gpu fan possibly causing damage.

It's a decent and worthwhile upgrade over the 6700k for only $300.
