Yes, you can redeem them on both stores (Apple Store & Apple Education Store).

Keep in mind that you can only redeem 8 Apple gift cards in one online transaction, but there are ways around this limit:

  1. The 10% calculation assumes you opt to redeem your Everyday Rewards points for Everyday Rewards Dollars (either through Money Off Shopping or Bank For Christmas). - Credits to WookieMonster

      You should be fine.

Although Woolworths does BIN checks for some prepaid gift cards, I have never seen a BIN check applied to a Coles Mastercard gift card or a Vanilla Visa gift card when purchasing any gift cards at their stores.

However, if you have a staff member who notices you trying to use a prepaid gift card as a payment method, they may intervene and stop you (assuming they care enough to intervene). I’ve had some Woolworths staff insist you cannot use any kind of prepaid gift cards to purchase any gift cards in their stores, so be mindful of that.

        Thanks

Considering reports of so many EDR accounts being hacked, the safest option that I can see is to transfer all EDR points earned straight to QFF.

What would be the best (i.e. most OzBargain way) to cash out all of your QFF points? Any thoughts, @WookieMonster?

    • But do the points equate to the rewards one would get at woolworths?

      • Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable about QFF points can respond.

    • -1

You could transfer to Qantas points, or you can change to Bank for Christmas.

Can I buy an app from the Apple Store using these credits?

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/strongbox-password-manager/id8…

Will it automatically deduct from my Apple Gift Card balance in my account first, then if there is not enough funds on the gift card use credit card on file for the remainder?

    • Yes

  • +1

    Yes and Yes

  • +3

If you plan to use these in a physical store do not load them in your apple account. You cannot use your apple credit in a physical store. You can use the credit to pay for physical items online though. I learnt this the hard way two weeks ago

    • Would you have been able to order via Apple Store online for in-store pick-up, then wait 15 minutes and pick up the item in-store?

      • +1

You can do that but it’s not 15min. They have this weird system that takes ages. I was pretty shocked how bad the shopping experience is at the Apple Store… well at least the one I went to.

    • Correct, I confirmed this with senior apple staff member also. Don’t load gift cards to apple iTunes account if you plan to buy in store, just take the gift cards with you to buy.

  • -1

    Hi All,
What does it mean by 20x rewards in terms of $ value. If I buy $500 gift card, how many points will I get and what will be their $ value.

    Thanks in advance

    • +1

      Points for $500 card = 500 x 20 = 10,000 points.

      2,000 points equal $10

So you get $50 back as everyday rewards dollars.

  • Awesome, thanks @zzzman for making it simple.

Can I use this gift card to buy an Apple watch series 8.

Last but not least, this offers starts from tomorrow, so will have to buy gift card tomorrow, right ?

    • +1

Can I use this gift card to buy an Apple watch series 8.

      Yes.

Clause 2 of the Apple gift card terms and conditions states:

      • You can use your Gift Cards to purchase content, apps, and services (collectively, “Content”) from Apple Media Services and items (“Products”) from Apple Retail Stores, Apple online stores, and the Apple Store App.

The Apple Watch Series 8 is an item sold at Apple Retail Stores, Apple online stores or the Apple Store App, so you can use Apple gift cards as a payment method. (There is also nothing in the terms and conditions of the offer to specifically exclude Apple Watch Series 8.)

Last but not least, this offers starts from tomorrow, so will have to buy gift card tomorrow, right ?

You don’t have to buy Apple gift cards specifically tomorrow, but you can start buying Apple gift cards tomorrow and take advantage of the bonus points offer.

  • Is there an expiry to the gift cards? I'm thinking of buying them to get the iPhone 15 which should be out in a year.

    • +1

Apple gift cards have no expiration date.

(You can see this at the end of clause 2 of the Apple gift card terms and conditions.)

      • Fantastic! Would be my first time getting these. So I can buy the cards tomorrow and hold them till I'm ready to use them next year correct?

If I want to buy off the Eduction Store, I would need to load the card into my account first then use it is that right?

        • +2

So I can buy the cards tomorrow and hold them till I'm ready to use them next year correct?

          Yes.

I bought an App Store & iTunes gift card at the start of 2020 and then redeemed it onto my Apple account last month and had no issues.

If I want to buy off the Eduction Store, I would need to load the card into my account first then use it is that right?

It depends on whether you are paying for the transaction instore or online.

If you are paying instore, you can use Apple gift cards to pay for a purchase,

If you are paying online (including for click and collect orders), you can redeem up to 8 Apple gift cards on the checkout, plus you can redeem your Apple Account Associated Balance in the same checkout too. And yes, you can add Apple gift cards to that balance; you can have up to $4,999 on your balance.

        • iPhone won't have any discount off the Edu Store, so there's no point to worrying about that.

Adding the GC to your Apple ID balance is fine. If you're pre-ordering (which I would recommend) then it would make it much easier to put through the order. Just remember to make sure to apply your Apple ID balance to your order.

          • @coxymla: Haha that’s right. No discount for those. Thank you! I’ll go pick up some gift cards tomorrow.

    • I believe there is no date (there was a law brought in that doesn't let gift cards expire?) you can also just wait closer, these deals come up every couple of months.

      • +1

The law that was brought in recently is minimum 3 years expiry but quite a few stores have longer or no expiry at all.

  • I was gonna say that I thought the cap was higher and checked the source and found out it was me xD
Thanks for sharing op! So tempted to collect points and by the new iphone

  • +6

Did anyone else just receive a booster on their Everyday Rewards account for this deal?

I just spotted a booster for 20x bonus points for Apple gift cards instore at Woolworths and Woolworths Metro on my account. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a booster for a gift card deal pop up on an Everyday Rewards account…

    • Yep, I see the booster.

      • does this mean it needs to be boosted for us to use??? also I dont see it

    • I can see the booster prompt in my account

But the terms and conditions don’t specifically say you must boost to get the 20x points (while other boosters do).

Also it says it’ll take 14 days max to credit the bonus points. In the past they would show up instantly when you pressed pay on the self checkout.

    • I don't understand why they put this in the app as a booster because it's an offer that doesn't need to be boosted. 🤔 Perhaps they just wanted to advertise it further.

      • +1

I think that is exactly what is happening.

There is no specific term in the booster to say you have to boost it before you can enjoy the offer. If you look at other Woolworths boosters (e.g. the current 5x points offer), they include the following clause:

To ensure your offer has been added to your Everyday Rewards Card, boost your offer before shopping.

It would therefore be unreasonable for Everyday Rewards to turn around and say “oh, you had to boost the offer first”, because nothing told you in the fine print you had to do that for the Apple gift card promotion.

Honestly, Everyday Rewards is becoming more and more of a 💩show with their gift card offers…

    • I dont

    • Yes I got it also. I boosted the Booster just to be safe. And to note purchased gift cards 24 hours later and the points / rewards dollars were added instantly.

  • Don’t the bonus points show on the receipt anymore? I couldn’t even see the points on the checkout when I scanned my card. I know my card scanned because it was printed on the receipt.

    • +1

The bonus points used to show up instantly on the checkout screen before you paid.

Also there’s a booster prompt for this now in the EDR app.

I’ll wait a day before jumping in just to be safe.

      • Yes used to see it on the screen and on the receipt. Isn’t it a catalogue special? Shouldn’t be a need to boost before purchasing.

        • It’s pretty confusing aye?

The T&C for the special doesn’t say you need to boost to get the bonus points so you should be good.

Weird how they changed the way it works though.

    • @unity1 @zzzman Same here, it seems it is becoming very common now not to give the points and then you have to keep chasing them. Happened to me 3 weeks ago, they finally added the points last Friday, but the wrong amount and I had to call them this week for them to add the remaining. Now I will have to chase them again for this week's offer, what a pain!

      • So I just got a $500 card at the woolies near work.

The checkout person asked if I have boosted the offer first.

The bonus points don’t show up on the checkout screen. Also nothing in the receipt or my app.

They must’ve changed the way this works.

    • I purchased some today. They did not mention the points / rewards dollars on the receipt, BUT it did appear on the check out register screen (I took a photo to keep for reference). They also showed in my app, I checked as I was leaving the store. To note I used the self service check out registers and have my points as Banked for Christmas.

  • +1

Just be careful with this offer as there is also some discussion on other forums about whether this Bonus offer needs to be activated in the Everyday Rewards App before a purchase is made. Better to be safe than sorry - so I suggest you Boost the offer a couple of hours before purchasing them. Woolworths have never included these Apple offers as boosted offers in the past

Here are the terms as published in the Everyday Rewards app
“ *Promotional period runs from 00:01 (local time) 2/11/22 until 23:59 (local time) 8/11/22 on all denominations of Apple Gift Cards listed. • +6

That doesn't make sense, the catalogue says nothing about having to boost to get the points, it might be just to bring more people's attention to this offer as not everyone checks the catalogue.

    • I boosted 24 hours before buying the gift cards just to be safe. And points were added instantly at the register.

  • Woolworths insurance customers get 10% off a shop of their choice every month. Can I use that in the buy for these gift cards?

    • +1

@sun-shine - I don't think so, at least it didn't for me when I just tried. Luckily the cashier managed to back out my transaction and I started from scratch to preserve the 10% off for the next shop.

    • Yeh it doesn't work. It will come up asking if you want to use your 10% off, so just press no because you won't get the discount. If you accidentally press yes, then just exit out of payment screen on self serve and then press pay again. It will ask you again whether you want to use your 10% off

    Update -

Went to Woolworths first thing in the morning. Picked up 4 X $20-$500 (variable) GC's and 1 X $100 GC.

Checkout girl - Scans the lot that'll be $2108 (bought $8 worth dog treats as well.

Me - I would like to scan my Rewards card please. Proceeds to scan it using my Apple Pay Wallet. Done.

Checkout girl - Would you like to apply 10% discount? You get it because of the insurance.

Me - Oh is it? (I never shop at Woolworths so totally forgot about that). Sure, go for it. in my mind - wow thats a big bonus discount!

Checkout girl - Ok, discount applied.

    Me - Thanks

Checkout girl - Thanks, that will be $2108. But somethings wrong

The system didn't allow her to proceed without a manager's authorisation.

Manager - Sir, are you aware of the GC Scam? Has someone ordered to pay them via GC's?

Me - Nope. I explained about the 20X rewards points and the manager is surprised.

Manager - That's a great deal then. Authorises the purchase

    Me happy

    • Is the 10% off once per month capped at $50? That’s what Woolworths Mobile customers get.

      • +4

Should have updated the comment but got distracted (have done that now!)

FYI - that 10% didnt apply to GC :( but only to the dog treats of $8! Bloody hell!

        • +1

Too good to be true! Thanks for updating.

        • That's annoying! Message woolworths about it as it sounds like the cashier mislead it to be 10% off the total shops. Not sure if they have the capacity to reissue the 10% off, but if not then maybe request a gift card for the foregone discount on one of your bigger shops

          • @nicholasv: It clearly states that Gift Cards are excluded from 10% offer in the Woolies T&C

            • @JHoliday: Correct, but as OP said they don't shop much at woolies and forgot about the offer. I don't think it was unreasonable to make the assumption based on what they heard from the cashier. Cashier should have made it clear that it would only be applied to the dog food

              • +1

@nicholasv: Cashier probably just reading off the popup on the screen in front of them

  • So what’s the consensus? To boost or not to boost?

I boosted at 7am this morning. Would 2 hours be enough time for it to become active?

    • I personally boosted 24 hours before I bought my gift cards to be safe. And my points were added instantly at the register.

  • Had been to woolies a while back & the GC points aren't getting updated when you check out despite it being in the catelogue.i was told to come later and check .

Suggest to check if the points getting updated prior to purchase.

  • Awesome, was planning on getting the new iPad Pro. I still have $100 unspent from buying my iPhone 14 Pro too.

  • +1

JUST FYI - went to the store and asked (QLD) they said limit of $1000 per day and couldn't tell me if the points would apply if i bought another card the next day.
The cards are also non refundable.

    • The T&C's state maximum 1 transaction per day so you should be fine to go back tomorrow and buy more.

      • yes true but would the 20X points apply again or is once off - the supervisor said its probably once off as it sounds too good to be true lol

        • +2

You would still get 20X points. The T&C's are Max 10 cards per transaction, Max 1 transaction per day. If someone really wanted to, they could theoretically (but probably not in practice) purchase $35k worth for this promotion!

    • +1

THIS ^^^^^^ I was told the same in NSW. You only get 20x points upto $1000 - One transaction per day. If you plan to buy greater than $1,000 - either use another EDR account or buy the next day.

      • The $1000 limit is the maximum a regular employee can process in one transaction. I've had a manager approve a $2000 Apple Gift Card purchase in the past. It helps to use the register attached to the Service Desk when paying, but YMMV.

        • I went to the service desk. 20x points and approval limits are 2 different things. You can buy any $ amount of GC and the manager will approve. But from what I was told that anything above $1k won't get 20 x points. I argued that T&C's says 10 GC but they were adamant. Kind of mix message from Woolworths but it might help someone.

          • @X Man: I would trust what the catalogue says over what staff say, as the staff aren't usually across every current promotion. If the bonus points don't get allocated as they should, just contact Everyday Rewards and they should fix it.

      • I was able to get $2200 fine last time for the Ultimate Gift Cards (went straight to JB & preordered my iPhone 14 Pro). In theory you can get $5000 a day (10 x $500 gift cards). Thinking back however, the service desk couldn't do more than $2000 in one transaction for me and spilt it into 2 but I still received my $220 rewards (the woman at the service desk was so friendly and made sure the points applied - otherwise she said she would cancel the transaction).

      • Got told something similar this morning from the manager at my local store in VIC - they can only approve $1000 worth of Apple gift cards in a single transaction. I told them it defeats the purpose of the promo and the limitations - up to 10 gift cards per transaction but one transaction per day per rewards member. No luck though, was told to come back tomorrow or use another account.

  • +1

just purchased $500 * 10 from my local woolies store, not points show up on the receipts or EDR app, the staff told me I have to wait a while to let it update, it is normal? I remember it was showing instantly last year.

    • +1

Same here. No bonus points during checkout or receipt. Also nothing in my app.

They must’ve changed the way it works

    • +1

      Same here.
I just called the Everyday Rewards Team but the operator said I have to wait for 14 business days if it doesn’t automatically goes through at check out point.

She said there’s another team responsible for manually adding points and if I don’t receive the points in 14 business days, I call them again to manually add the points into my account.

      Hopefully this really happens.

      • +1

Unfortunately my experiences with woolworths 20x point promos is that I always have to follow up the missing points. I believe it is because you don't get any everyday reward points on gift cards, so 0 points x 20 is still 0. It always works fine at Coles because they actually give you points on gift card purchases (don't believe that it should be awarded though as per their flybuys T&Cs). However, woolworths are quite good as crediting the points, and I always use the everyday rewards Facebook page because then you can reply at your own pace.

In the previous 20x point promo, I didn't get my 3000 points and they did credit it after I messaged them. I asked them for some extra points for the inconvenience and they gave me an extra 500 points, so it is worth asking the question but YMMV. Unfortunately, you will have to wait the arbitrary 14 days before they'll even do anything though

        • Honestly I have purchased $10k of apple gift card from Woolie and never experienced any issue. This is the first time I don’t get points instantly.

          • +1

@clao: When was the last time you purchased them? They've changed something recently on their system which has screwed with their 20x point gift card promos

            • +1

@nicholasv: I personally purchased Apple gift card in Dec 2021.
I had purchased Airbnb in Sep 2022 and Ultimate gift cards in Mar 2022.
My friend also purchased Apple gift card in Aug/Jul 2022.
All bonus points had been appeared in our accounts instantly.
Really have no idea why this is not the case this time.

              • @clao: Hmm yeh strange. The last 2 20x gift card promos I have done I had to chase up the points. Frustrating as to follow it up, but they're pretty prompt as long as you wait the 14 days first!

    • Mine were instant today. I had a pop up message appear on the register when I scanned my everyday rewards card and they were in the app also (as I checked as I was leaving the store). For reference I used the self serve registers.

  • +1

Anyone having trouble with checking out via Coles Mastercard? Just tried & doesn’t seem to be working.

    • Just paid $1000 using it. Had to ask the check out lady to split the transaction in $250 x 4, was happy to do so.

      • Were you able to confirm you received the points? The T&Cs say 1 transaction per day, per member.

        • Its one transaction but split payments. No points there yet.

        • +1

Split payments will be fine as long as it was one transaction (one receipt)

    • I was able to buy 2500$ and 1200$ using the Coles Mastercard Prepaid cards with split payment by 5*250$ cards (1 MC card left with 50$ balance after transaction)

  • Called Woolies twice (waiting time was close to an hour both times) to chase missing points on their last x20 points on TCN gift cards deal. First time they told me to wait until 14 business days was up, so I did but the points never came through. Second time I had to call to get the points manually added in…

    • +3

      Sounds like a clusterfk.

The way they did it previously (automatic addition of points BEFORE checkout and showing points in receipt) was much clearer and easier.

      • It's not like you can return a gift card back to Woolies (or anywhere I'm assuming) so not sure why they didnt keep it this way ^

        • I would say it's a system issue that they haven't fixed yet. The points are meant to automatically go to your account within 14 days, so they make you wait that time in case it does go through.

Eg if you messaged them today and they credited the points, then you might still end up getting the automatic points and 'double dip' unintentionally.

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say it is something wrong with their system rather than them hoping that customers forget to follow up the points

      • Mine was instant today and appeared on the register screen right after my scanned my EDR card. Also was in my app instantly

    • Ditto for myself.

  • I haven't received points yet as others have pointed out.

    My situation:

    • Activated the booster 2 hours before (saw it in the app at ungodly hours of the morning)
    • I bought $1000 (2x$500)
    • Nothing in App

I will wait a day and see what happens and go from there.

    • +1

You'll have to wait 14 days as per T&Cs. Everyday rewards won't help you until 14 days have lapsed. Seems unlikely that they will automatically go through, but in 2 weeks time then just message everyday rewards on Facebook and they'll credit the points. Annoying, but it's an easy fix. Don't waste your time chasing it up until 14 days though, just set a reminder on your phone and chase it up then

  • I just bought $500 and it shows 0 point for the transaction in the reward app.

And then I saw that the offer is listed in the reward app but you need click on “Boost” to activate it?

    Any idea?

  • Where are these gift cards normally found in store (at/near staffed checkouts for security I’m guessing)?

    • +1

They are usually at the end of an aisle opposite the registers. There is no need for the cards to be secured as they have no value loaded onto them until they go through the register. Example

      • +1

Thanks! I’ve probably walked by them a hundred times before but know what to look out for now.

  • The Woolworths manager suggested to split my transaction into 3x $500 gift cards as paying for them in one transaction didn’t work.

I just realised that the terms and conditions state one transaction per day. Does anyone have any experience in this and whether they got points for multiple transactions in a day? Or if I have a case to argue if I only receive points on the first transaction?

    • I have done this in the past but only because the manager was not in the store to approve the transaction above the store limit of $2000 (apparently this is a limit for any transaction in store, nothing to do with the giftcards) and I saw the points in the screen before paying. Now with the amount of people not getting the points straight away (including myself), I wouldn't risk. Just tell the manager to approve the transaction.
